It really just depends on where you're at. Here in IL, there's one I know of. When I lived in southern california a few years ago, they acutally have a few. one has three screens! it was pretty cool, there'd be 6 movies (2 on each screen), and you could drive to another screen if you didn't want to see the one you were at.

I had at least 4 drive-ins most of my life. Only in the last 10 years have they closed two that I know of, one of which I absolutely adored. I don't get why they don't keep them open. Every time I went the place was packed with cars by the time the movie started. Two first-run movies (one after the other) for $20 a carload, or $7 each if per-person, most recently. It's now a large parking lot and one small office building. BOOO!

Between that and the avatar, I'm thinking we've all been having some wierd time travel conversation with someone back in the 50's!! Slim? What's the year in your town???

Well according to the date on my last post, it's 2011 here, but I do live in a home built in 1950, with mid-century furnishings, and we go on road trips in our 1966 Plymouth Fury, so you aren't too far off. It was a beautiful night at the drive-in tonight.

Our nearest drive-in movie theatre is 25 miles away, and then the next closest is a little over an hour's drive from where we live. That one only charges $2 per person for a double-feature of first run movies, and it still plays the old intermission trailers with the juggling popcorn and leaping hotdog. It's a beautiful sight. We go frequently during the season and even plan our road trips so we’ll be staying the night in towns with a drive-in.

A lot of people don't realize how close they live to a drive-in. If you are interested you can go to this link: Drive-ins.com - Drive-in Theater Database you can search by state or zip code for the “drive-in theatre nearest you”. I use the zip code search; be sure to click in the OPEN circle to only find the drive-ins currently in operation; in other words, the ones that have not closed for good (although they may be closed “for the season”). You can also look up ones that have closed by either searching for ALL, or just CLOSED ones. Each drive-in has its own page with contact information and they usually have a link to the theatre’s website. I use this site all the time.

Btw, if you go to one, be sure to visit the concession stand; that’s really the only way they make money to stay afloat. They hardly make any money from ticket sales because the movie studios take the majority of that. If we don’t want all the drive-ins to disappear, we have to go and support the concession stand. I love watching movies under the stars.

Frick, it's sad for me when I see drive-ins closed and abandoned. I’m not sure where you are in Ohio, but on our road trips we have been to at least the following 3 drive-ins in Ohio:
The Midway Twin in Ravenna; we were there before the original screen designed by Jack Vogel was damaged/lost due to a storm. We’ve also been to the Blue Sky in Wadsworth, Ohio and the South Drive-In in Columbus, Ohio. Another fun fact, our home was manufactured in Columbus, Ohio.

Pleeeeese, not Trojan. Don't we have enough of that terminology to deal with? Double protection: put a condom on the chubby and put it in a Trojan.

hahaaa love it!

OK, new info!!

The MaxxFusion clearomizers are through the prototype stage, and I will have samples first thing next week. I will keep you posted.

The NEW Bloog exclusive adjustable PCC however is still not even through the computer stage of the design. Our engineer was NOT satisfied with his assistant chief engineer's work on it, even after several attempts, and has promised to take over the project personally and have that stage done by the end of next week.

Great for newbies..How do i find updates? go plow through the ignore thread, its in there somewhere....

I am guessing this is what was meant:

VCC = Variable Charging Case

good one. easy to figure out, instead of some fancy name..

Each existing PCC will be designated with an "old" for each generation outdated it is.
It'd go something like this:

Fusion PCC = old-old PCC
Maxx Fusion PCC = old PCC
Mini PCC = newest PCC
mini pcc with adjustable 65-78 battery compartments = new-newest PCC
mini pcc style 78+ batteries = new-new-newest PCC
PCC fitting in an android phone with cold fusion generator and built in holodeck = new-new-new-newest PCC

Once the new-newest design is in stock, it becomes the newest, and everything drops down a tier. I know, I know, simple and concise to a fault. It's my greatest flaw.

just like with boyfriends!

The "go to first unread post" button isn't working. :( Makes it harder to ignore things when you don't know where you left off ignoring last time.
Didnt even know it existed till it was gone.....

This threads going to fast....cant keep up..

The closest one to me is in North Ridgeville, about 35 miles away. I don't care for it much, though. Small screens and it tends to be massively over-run with unsupervised children. It's too long of a drive to put up with the aggravation.

I sure miss my nice, old-fashioned drive-in. It was huge, and had the old speakers that largely didn't work, but you could still hear announcements and music echoing from them before the movies started. My step-kids used to love when they'd say "the concession stand closes in 10 minutes", so they could run there and get one more thing to eat. Fun times.
