I know that Whiskey's thread was closed not too long ago but something has definitely changed with loading times. Things were going pretty well for a while after you initiated some of the tweaks but lately the forum is crawling again.
I don't know who's getting 3 second page load times but they are nonexistent for a lot of members. I see posts referring to time-outs in a lot of threads, and not only in the large ones I frequent.
The worst wait is for "My Posts" in my case.
Using XP Pro with FF 13 ........

I hesitate to even complain due to my molasses connection, but the 504's and other server timeouts have been very prevalent for those of us who already suffer the expected ISP lag. Since I have a long history on the forum to compare, I must tell you that this has recently gotten to be absolutely painful and is about to cause me give up my playtime on ECF.

P.S. I also participate in a couple of large (some image heavy) forums showing no noticeable change.

Lis, I'm no site developer, nor am I well versed in site performance, but does slower than 70% measure up to expectations?

That's Dallas Texas, i dont have the option to test Florida there but Amsterdam is giving me better time than new york

Do they welcome Texans in Amsterdam? I hear it's a very progressive country! But, howduz that help the majority of members who (from what I see) live in the good ol' USA?

i don't have much time - got company - but using pingdom to check dns servers indicates some problems

Pingdom Tools

warnings were given here:

Delegation

Superfluous name server listed at parent: ns4.e-cigarette-forum.com

A name server listed at the parent, but not at the child, was found. This is most likely an administrative error. You should update the parent to match the name servers at the child as soon as possible.

Too few name servers (1).

Only one name server was found for the zone. You should always have at least two name servers for a zone to be able to handle transient connectivity problems.
Nameserver
ns1.e-cigarette-forum.com.

Could not find reverse address for 72.52.242.207 (207.242.52.72.in-addr.arpa.).

PTR record(s) for the address could not be found in the .arpa-zone. (ip6.arpa. for IPv6 addresses and in-addr.arpa. for IPv4).

I tried the ping test that Lis linked...it showed 3-4 seconds for the main page to load. Meanwhile in another tab at the same time, i got a 504 gateway timeout on the 'response on threads' thread...(using chrome)

respond on threads is only available to members, it is password protected, they can't load that page
