A spacer on the negative end of the bottom battery will probably be okay. There. I said it, heheh.

So, I just asked LoxyBear and he said a dime should work....I guess give that a go Sky...if that's a no go, please do PM me your address, I'll get you a couple of these spacers out. :)

Still watching you Tib...and when I sleep...the squirrel watches...be afraid, be very afraid. :p

sky, looks as if it is safe to try with a dime .....

see you all tomorrow!

lol - dh swore up and down that all the aggravation of getting things [cleaning atties, etc] to work kept me from smoking in the beginning .......

I think I was that way in the beginning, but not anymore. I just want the darn things to work.

*busts through the door with a rabid/drunk squirrel on her shoulder* What's going on in here????

A drunk and rabid squirrel? I think you may be in some danger there Chelle. Even I am leery of my squirrels when they get drunk. They don't seem to be able to handle their alcohol well.

OK, read up a little bit...I can def send some magnetic spacers to Sky to see if that will do it (put both at + end of top batt)...I don't know nothing bout no dimes in mods though. :p

Thank you Chelle. Are you sure you won't need them? I can maybe trade you something. I don't know that I trust dimes.

Magnetic Battery Spacers - Avid Vaper
That doesn't confirm what end, but it does say not to stack them in a mod...they have various sizes there though. The ones I have are about as thick as one dime.

I just went and looked and saw this:

Can be used on flat top cells to create a button for mods that require button top battery's and for stacked battery spacers and charging spacers.

What I have isn't considered a flat top battery is it?

No sky...they are talking about batteries that don't have a raised side at all. I forget the number of the flat ones, but that's not the ones we are using.

Okay............so a magnet is out? Or just the magnets they sell?

Are yours still working well cricket?

Well I finally got a charger for my batteries and stuck those babies in the thermo .. WOW is all I can say. 6v vaping is amazing! I'm using the recommended Tenergy RCR123A 3.0V 900mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery x 2 and they fit perfectly, and there's no problems with it firing or anything! I'm really happy with this thermo tube. I had to play around with the sp2 a lot before I found the right combo of top/bottom gaps to make it fire every time, but now that I've found it, it works great.

One thing though .. someone should have warned me that 6v vaping is so warm .. fruity vapes do not do particularly well in warm vapes. But on my coffees, chocolates, sweet stuff .. wowzers! I'm loving it.

I have not used magnets yet, but I'm pretty sure you can still use them even if your batteries have "nipples", lol. I think they are just more commonly used for the flat ones so they can be charged, etc.
Are yours still working well cricket?
Aggg...it's really touch and go. I started to respond to this and say there were working wonderfully(because they had been) and then I picked one up and couldn't get it to fire. I'm starting to think I should have just plopped down $150+ for a more dependable mod. :( Now my debate is...do I want to place an order for a set of caps so I can use all 4 at the same time? IDK yet. It seems like once you get them working good as long as you don't touch anything they work great. But if you make any slight changes you are fiddling with it for at LEAST 30 min....at the moment I'm ready to throw 2 of them accross the room again!! :-x

earth magnets can be used for flat top batteries or as spacers in general ....

could it be your connections need cleaning? i like blaze's idea of using a pencil eraser .....

and the more i read the more i'm convinced that all mods, no matter the price, have their moments, lol

I feel for you cricket I really do. It's really rather amazing that I haven't taken a hammer to these and turned them into what might be used as a spacer.

What is an earth magnet?

I really don't understand the issues some are having. This has to be one of most mechanically simple devices out there.

I have two of these in use; one thermo 3.7v for home use and the standard setup for on the go. Both work perfecly fine, taking routine maintenance into account.

People seem to be so caught up in their own ineptitude that they can't even digest simple common sense advise.

Sorry if I missed the OP on this. Here are my thoughts, if it matters.

Yeah, the 17670s come in slightly different sizes (lengths). I use a different one for the prodigy than I do the GG. However the GG came with the "spacer" if you want to use 2, 3v batteries (length) & vape at 6V.

The spark plug is ok if it's your only mod.Let's face it, $25 for a tube mod that you can essentially vape at 3.7 OR 6V with! (I got the deal with the thermo tube). I've lightly, and I mean very lightly used it (3 times for a few minutes each just to TRY it out) and had switch problems the 3rd & last time I used it. It's not the "switch" inside, it's the coil that gets jammed up. I believe early on in this thread Ghetto Cowgirl posted photos of disassembling hers & stretching the coil back out. However, even after stretching out my coil & reassembling the switch it got pushed back down AGAIN.........so I had to repeat the process.

Yeah, the dime is "the poor man's spacer". However I've only used it in a battery charger, not inside of a mod. Technically a spacer SHOULD work inside of the mod, because it'll be making contact. Do not use a dime inside of the Spark Plug though. This will cause a double negative & will ground itself out (non working mod). A spacer is actually sorta like a battery (meaning that it has an outside casing aka condenser- so it'll conduct & fire properly. You COULD put some tape around a dime & then it'll work as a spacer in a mod.

I would throw my Spark Plug across the room in a heartbeat...........& definitely drop the extra cash on a mod that is not gonna cause you heartache. Let's face it, nobody wants to fiddle with a new mod! The new mod should vape, vape & vape some more. Pick up a used Prodigy for $75, or a GGTB at COV for less than $100, maybe an infinity for less than $100.

I do like the idea of a pencil eraser for the spark plug. That may be a good fix. I haven't used the spark plug besides that one night I tried it out, but maybe i'll give it a shot again tonight (i'm almost positive the coil is gonna get smashed down & difficult to fire), so i'll just rip an eraser off one of the kids' pencils.

I hate it when people are having problems with their new mods, but I enjoy the thinking process that I have to go through in order to assist in making them work.

FYI, for future reference in case anyone needs it............if your mod is metal, the outside body is negative and the batteries inside are positive. Therefore when the switch is pressed, you are putting positive to negative to create the circuit. :)

Good Luck! You'll get this going!

It turns out that's just what it was. I had already cleaned the connections with an eraser (without taking the switch apart) and that didn't help. What worked was taking it completely apart and cleaning the insides. It has been working fine ever since. Matter of fact...last night I was vaping away a storm on 6v with my new IKV 801 HV atty. WoW...that thing ROCKS!! :vapor::vapor:
