Maybe the barrista was easily intimidated.
That's one thing I didn't contemplate and is a good point, I suppose I'm such an outspoken person I don't think that some might not be. But then this is also where it's good to know how to read a person.. If they look intimidated or freaked out a detailed explanation would be in order. Though I highly doubt that starbucks corporate would put in place a no vaping policy due to the complaint of one barrista.. if that were the case there would be a "no a*sholes" policy already.

Robert - "Also- No One here is a Sheepeele we have all broke from the heard! Calling anyone here a sheep is insulting.. We are all proud vapers who come from different situations and no one should be insulted by calling them names."

I have to say that I disagree, not about all people here but to say that there are NONE is an impossibility, there are always some that will break away from the herd in action only just to say they did but without the conviction they are just pretending... in all things.. not just this there will be those types of people. Just as a wolf dressed as a sheep is still a wolf, so a sheep dressed as a wolf is still a sheep. A sheep (in my use of the term) is someone who doesn't have the guts to be truely different, to stand up for themselves and instead looks to others to protect and take care of them. A wolf being one that will fight for what they want, what they believe in, no matter the opposition. There's nothing wrong with with either path but the two will never agree.

I'm done with this arguement, I had already said that I wouldn't go there again and have tried to keep my replies short and direct. I'm now simply going to avoid this thread in order to avoid the temptation of the argument. I love a good debate and a great argument/fight/disagreement will typically make my day, but there are a lot of people on this forum that I like and wouldn't want to offend by failing to use the proper words to express my exact POV.

Have a nice day

...Blowing smoke or vapor into someone's face...regardless of which, is rude. ...

Completely agree. Even when I used to smoke I didn't appreciate other smokers blowing smoke into my face and I don't like others blowing vapor into my face either. Common courtesy. Of course, if our encounter includes kissing, I will not mind the vapor...

Vape wherever and whenever you like. Don't blow it in someone's face an don't blow it in another person's food. But other than that, educate others and enjoy.

The last thing this world needs is for us to hide and scramble. Then they win. I had people in bars, restaurants, managers, all come up to me and say, "No smoking sir." Then I unscrew the atty and battery and they ask a few questions and leave me alone. Especially when they see how quick the "cloud" dissipates and how it doesn't smell at all like cigarette ....

Also, bigbob, have you ever taken Chemistry in HS or College? Remember Thermodynamics? Well the second law states the world is in increasing in entropy. And the first law states energy cannot be created nor destroyed. So since the world is becoming more chaotic, and the public has a negative energy towards vaping now because of the FDA, it is our duty for each one of us to change that energy into a more positive one with feedback and education.

Simply hiding in the dark is feedback inhibition for us which is good for the FDA.

Commendable, but would your refuse to stop if the manager asked you to?

Exactly my point, in your face diplomacy rarely works.
(No chemistry in my past but I understand the theory).
And I'm sure, if the guy behind the counter was a 6'5 biker guy, he would not have been so cocky about his vaping.

Don't want anyone to hide it either, but at the same time, intimidation is not good either, and when scared people make decisions about vaping they're not going to see vaping as a good thing, they're going to remember the rude guy with a negative connotation and his weird "smoking" gadget.

No. If asked I would put it away. Starbucks is a private place of business.

If they say you can't do that in here.. you can't. Period.

I can understand why they wouldn't want you to vape even if they understood the concept too. As not many people know about pv's it might be construed that you are indeed smoking from a far. Other customers would either 1) begin lighting up analogs or 2) leave because someone was "smoking" in the coffee shop.

This post is a really good point that I think is correct.

Vaping at this point seems to be about appearance. From the uneducated stand point, it looks like smoking therefore it IS smoking (even though we know better). At a public coffee shop people uneducated would be very uncomfortable, especially if "smoke" was blown in their face.

Hiding is not a good idea, we need more public awareness of the truths behind Vaping and how it is NOT smoking!
