A week or so ago, I noticed my nephew and niece "smoking" e-cigs. Both had (what I learned later) Ego CE4s, one will a 650 battery, the other with an 1100 battery. I was instantly intrigued. I have been a smoker for 40 years or so, but have wanted to quit...or at least slow it down a little...for, oh, 35 of those years. Anyway, I became so enamoured that I immediately searced for the Ego online, found a starter kit with two batts, two tanks, and a charger. I also ordered a couple of 15ml juices to try out. Well, the juices arrived a couple days ago, the Egos today. After charging one battery for the recommended 8 hour initital period, I am now sitting here enjoying my first vape and enjoying it immensely. While waiting for the equipment to arrive, I spent hours...HOURS!...watching videos on YT, trying to learn as much as I could about vaping. Thank you, GrimmGreen, BTW. I already am sure that after an itital foray into vaping using the Ego and experimenting with all the juices out there, I'll be upgrading my PV sometime in the future.

I can't say for sure that I'm quitting cigs cold turkey in favor of vaping. But I am fairly confident that I can at least cut back. To be honest, there's more to smoking that just the nicitine. There is the whole ritual of getting the cigs out of the pack, lighting up, the feel of the cig in your hand, etc., etc....almost all of which is absent in vaping. All those rituals may be difficult to break. Any suggestions?

Glad to be here. I want this all to work out and I'm gonna try real hard to make it so.

Congrats! I smoked at work while vaping at home for about a year and a half. Couldn't replace the break from work with any PV at the time. I would highly recommend looking into a joy tech eRoll. Almost as light as a cig and looks similar. You can hold it the same way as a regular cig. I tried taking my ego C to work but was getting strange looks from people and was asked to leave it at home due to the fact that our customers thought it was one if those illegal devices for vaporizing pot. Now everyone looks at me like its a normal cig and my mind thinks it is too and I've been cig free for 3 weeks.

Don't exactly give up the other rituals. I for a long time used my ashtray to keep my pv right where I would've kept my cigs. It would hold my juice, extra carto's, and miscellaneous pieces. Some still go outside to smoke. I keep mine in my front pocket when I can. Whatever you can find to make it seem like you haven't lost your best friend cause after sometime your new friend will be a lifesaver! Good luck on making the final switch but don't be hard on yourself if you can't do it all right away. I have and I've fallen and I just get back up. I'm hopefully on my 3 and final try.

The smoking ritual was hard for me to leave behind, no doubt about it. What got me was the taste of a cigarette a few days after I started vaping. TBH, it was kinda disgusting. All it took was that one drag and I knew that particular ritual was no longer something I was interested in.

It took a good solid three weeks for me to get over the mechanics of smoking. The feeling that something was missing, so odd. For instance, smoking a cig usually took about five minutes. That's five minutes of something to do. With vaping, it goes back into my pocket after a few drags. At first I was like, "ok, what do I do now?". Almost a panic, I'm ashamed to admit. After a while, it just seems normal. The vape is always there, no need to worry. I adapted.

A big deal for me was finding a flavor to go with my morning coffee. I knew that was a time of day that I don't like to be messed with. Just want to wake up, pour a cup, and not think about not smoking. Tip - coffee flavors are awesome.

There are, of course, the many advantages smoking cessation that quickly kick in. We are all familiar with what those are. They will amaze you when you experience them first hand. Check my cig, that little calculator deal. I love that thing. And being able to actually breath a full sigh of relief, well, that's just awesome.

Welcome to the hobby. Vaping has its own rituals that may come to replace the cig rituals for you in time. There is the ordering of the juice, waiting for it to arrive, letting it steep (if its made to order it may need to rest for a week & some people like to shake the bottles everyday), filling up a carto (or dripping), charging the batteries, and then the whole vaping technique. Then there is replacing parts of cartos (if you have that kind) or rebuilding them (if you are in to that).

Make sure you check out lots of different flavors at the beginning. I just started a few weeks ago and I'm still testing my initial order of 13 flavors. Try to find reviews written by someone with a similar flavor palate and device as you that vapes for reviews of juice. They taste different at different voltages and in different devices. I'd also recommend trying a few different strengths. I wasn't able to quit until I found 32mg juice, but my technique was all wrong. Now that I have better technique my next order will be a lower strength.

Welcome. It took me a little to finally switch. I was using blue cig for a while but kept going back I wasn't getting the satisfaction from the blue. Once I switched to my first real vape, ego battery with a vivi nova I never looked back. Been a month now. Smoke free. Best of luck!!!!!!

Congratulations! You made an excellent choice in your first kit, but I can understand the smoking rituals you're talking about. You might want to consider a disposable cigalike for the times when you really want to mimic smoking. From what I've read, the NJOY Kings are pretty close in size and feel (they have paper covering the battery and a soft tip) and they can be found in many stores throughout the US. Keep at it and do what works for you, even if that means you don't quit analogs right away.

The easiest way I have found to replace the "ritual of smoking" was to substitute it with fiddling with my e-cigs. At school I keep them in my backpack inside the ego case. Then I choose my flavor, usually have 2-3 setups + extras with me. I was motivated enough when I started vaping to 100% drop analogs as soon as I picked up my ego's. After a few weeks I decided to celebrate with an analog, and it was not good, at all haha

My suggestion is just to vape as much as you can, and let nature take it's course. Vaping has a way of sneaking up on you, taking over your life, and emptying your wallet. Most likely you will be assimilated, kinda a rule or law (who knew?). Welcome, congrats on joining the cool kids on your new team. Good luck, power up and vape on!

Congrats and welcome. Doesn't it absolutely feel life changing!!?

As far as "cold turkey" goes. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it easily, but after 2 days of learning my PV I decided to just take the plunge and try. If I wasn't ready yet that was OK. To my HUGE surprise, it was EASY even the first day! That just motivated me more and I'm at about 3 weeks of no analogs now!

The habit part can be a little weird, but in a lot of ways vaping is just so much more convenient and I'm getting a kick out of that (no more worrying you'll be out of smokes or constantly stopping for them!)
