Starter kit recommendations?

Hi, new member here and I'm looking for some recommendations for a starter kit that will suit me.

I gave up analogs 2 weeks ago and have been using the disposable e-cigs from the local smoke shops instead. Those disposables have proven to me that I will never again smoke analogs. I was a 1 to 1.5 PAD smoker for 25 years. Guess I'd like something that does not resemble a traditional cigarette, something that is not a big and suspicious looking.

The disposables I have used last me 2 days if that gives an idea on how much I use them.

Thanks for helping.

I started recently on the halo triton kit. Its great in every way I could imagine, very easy to use and has a cone to use w cartomizers to minimize the size and look for public use. Although I just use my tanks in public now at first the cone/cart combo was nice to keep it small until I was comfortable vaping everywhere and anywhere.

Hi Blue Beard,

When I started vaping I purchased a starter kit. In retrospect, it was a poor idea....a very very poor expensive waste of money of an idea :)

I suggest you take a look at some mods and skip the hassle of a starter kit: http://www.ecigarette-mods.com/info/browse-by-features/

It might be daunting at first given the different battery types and number of stylistic options, but you're better to research into a mod and take the plunge rather than buying a starter kit.

My recommendation: Get a mod that takes an 18650 battery type. It's the bigger of the batteries, but you don't want to have to buy tons of batteries. I use a SilverBullet (not a small mod) and it takes an 18650 but there are sleeker 18650 mods. I have two 18650 batteries and when I'm not using one, the other is charging. The charge is always done before I'm finished the battery I'm on, so I never am without a battery. Also, I've tried a number of battery brands, and the best is AW (black and red in colour). If you search, you can find them for a good price.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

I am reposting an earlier post because it's my answer to the exact same question another noob just asked. Sounds like you are ready for an entry level kit. The MyVaporStore kit mentioned previously is a good one. Here's my thoughts on entry level batteries and toppers. I do still like the eVod, as my favorite bottom coil Kanger product. Anyway, a preview:

Stick Batteries, known as eGo Style Batteries (entry level, backup, out and about, stealth, primary):
Trusted Vendors shown, but NOT selected based on pricing, you'll still need to shop around. You will need device specific battery chargers (which often come in kits) for these devices. Also, kits often provide two batteries allowing for simultaneous vaping while charging of the backup. Each of the eGo style batteries below have both 510 and eGo thread connections. As such, they are compatible with most toppers, including most Kanger products. Additionally, each of these devices has at least variable voltage, which allows you to adjust and regulate the battery output voltage, providing customizable vapor production, temperature, throat hit, and finding the "sweet spot" for your juices to suit your individual vaping preferences:

1. Innokin iTaste 3.0 vv/vw, usb passthrough, ohms reader, etc. - https://ivape.net/index.php/iTaste-V...rl-Chrome.html (variable power, LCD display, +/- buttons, Usb passthrough, 3.3 - 5.0 volts, 6.0 - 11.0 watts, 800mAh)
2. SLB KGO VV - KGO V.V. 650mAh (LCD display, +/- buttons, Usb passthrough, 3.0 - 6.0 volts, 650 - 1200mAh)
3. Vision Spinner - Vision Spinner VV eGo Battery 1300mAh (3.3 - 4.8 volts, 1300mAh)
4. Joyetech Twist - eGo Twist 1000 Mah Battery in Black (3.2 - 4.8 volts, 650 - 1000mAh)
5. Smoktech Winder - Smok eGo Winder 900mAh Variable Volt Battery (3.2 - 4.8 volts, 900 - 1100mAh)

Best Starter Combo kit out there, imho, provides two batteries, i.e., the twist and/or spinner, and two toppers, i.e., the eVod and/or MT3s, among others: http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_S...bo_p/vvs-c.htm. Recommend one eVod and one MT3s topper with one Spinner and one Twist to start. This way you get four different products with the kit and allowing you to experience four different setups, as you figure out your preferences and what works best for you. BTW, you can spend less and get a fixed voltage battery, but you'll have much less vape flexibility and it won't be long before you'll want to upgrade to variable voltage, more than likely, and the difference initially is only a few dollars per battery anyway.

Anyway, my two cents. Welcome to ECF, congrats on getting here, good luck and vape on!

Wow, I guess I wasn't prepared for all the different recommendations that would come my way. I know that everyone knows alot more than me about vaping but I just can't get over the feeling that some of these things are way overkill for me.

I saw those ego-c ones and thought they might be a good fit for me? Could one of those last me through the day? Keep in mind the disposables last me 2 days but I don't know how it compares.

I got the Halo Triton as well this week. It packs a punch! I'm very new to vaping it's my first real e cig (tried disposables before but thats it). It comes charged and ready to vape when you get it in the mail. Easy to assemble and use. Their juices are yummy too. I highly recommend the Midnight Apple.

But I know next to nothing of this world and if more senior members think you should go a different route their knowledge is probably more to be trusted than mine.

I bought an Ego starter kit with (2) 1100mah twists and (2) Kanger T3's for $70 shipped when I first began vaping. I have to agree with AdamM...wasted my money in hindsight. The kit got the job done, but it was almost immediately afterwards that I wanted something much better with more power/options and better battery capabilities especially. I always had to have one of the twists on the charger and it took literally forever for it to finish charging. I use those twists now just to sample juices with a carto on the end.

I should have bought 1 twist and a few cartos to drip and the Sigelei Zmax V3 and life would have been perfect from day one!

buy once cry once. with a APV like a variable voltage and variable wattage you can dial it down to act like a std ego or even your disposable ecigs. when you want to upgrade, no need to buy new gear, just push some buttons.

I started with an iTaste Express VV kit from ukecigstore and quickly discovered that the 800Mah battery wasn't enough for my needs; even with pass through.

So within two weeks I had upgraded to an iTaste MVP; perfect as it lasts me two days on one charge. I now only use my original iTaste Express for the pub and as a back up device etc.

same ol story started off with (insert your cheapo PV ) and ended up buying (insert your APV) so skip the step and get the APV.

Could not agree more. Six months ago started with the disposables, then got a a ego-c kit. I quit the analogs but the ego-c was lacking..so got a Vision Spinner and a ProVari mini. Wish I would have got those from the start. (Or find the e-cig forum first)

i think it's going to be hard to judge your vaping when comparing to disposables. At least for me, the battery would usually give out before the juice. Batteries hafta be more expensive than a couple mL of juice.

i'm pretty new to vaping as well. Everyone's telling you to skip a step and go up to something bigger (which seemed like overkill to me too), but you probably will quickly understand after you take the plunge. My first setup was just a Joyetech 510-Tank...pen-style and a small .5 mL tank with a 510-T atty. also, very small batteries (220-340 mAh). After about a week, and a LOT more research, i realized that i needed something better. Especially in the battery department. I'm now a month into vaping and waiting on my eGo spinners (1300 mAh) and a few different clearomizers (to find one i like: that's a whole other topic xD ).

My advice is to find a kit, or piece one together, with some eGo twists or spinners and try some different cartomizers/clearomizers. Whatever you get, you WILL upgrade in one way or another down the road. Possibly the eGo style PVs will be enough for you, maybe you want to jump up to a "bigger" APV like a ProVari. If you aren't comfortable plunging in with the eGo styles, by all means: get a cig-a-like "pen-style" like i did. It's how i learned; also how i let go of the "i gotta have a pen-style" thinking (which i did NOT forsee)...and at $40ish for the hardware it wasn't that big of a deal.

Good Luck BlueBeard!
