I use the bottles (plastic) they sell (4 in a pack) in drugstores to use for air travel. Y'know ... can't have more than 4 ounces of a liquid because you might combine it with more than 4 ounces of another liquid and then blow up.

The tops stay on during the ultrasonic vibration/heating cycles perfectly.

I fill three bottles with 70 mls each and cycle away. 210 mls of flavor.

I just did an interesting trial after reading up on industrial ultrasonic cleaners.

I made a 50ml batch of TFA Strawberry (with lemon juice and sweetener) in a 50/50 36mg base, a flavor that I know from past experience darkens as it ages. I put half in a 30ml plastic bottle, and the other half in a 30ml glass bottle. I put the lids on securely, and put them both in my ultrasonic at the same time for four 30 minute cycles (at temp of 60c) with a one hour rest in between each cycle.

End result was the juice in the glass bottle was significantly darker. I.e. it seemed to have steeped more.

I performed this test because I read that ultrasonic manufacturers advise against using plastic, and other soft materials, because they do not resonate as well and will actually deaden the ultrasonic energy in the bath.

This test seems to have confirmed that. In any event, I am going to use glass bottles in my bath from now on.

I read through about half of this thread, so if someone already mentioned it, sorry in advance. I just happen to come across this article on building you own ultrasonic cleaner with a vibrating sander. Seems like a cheap and fun experiment assuming you already have a sander.

Has anyone thought of use a LOW frequency? When I first started reading this I was reminded of a test tube shaker. You may have seen a show or a movie where a test tube is pressed into a machine with a rubber cup. And it shakes the bottom of the tube. Last night I mixed up something. After more that a hour in the US cleaner there still was a dark layer on top. Perhaps a hobbyist paint shaker! They have these intended to mix 7-30ml bottles of paint. And I have seen jig saws and other oscillating tool used a a DIY shaker.

I have seen posts about people using magnetic mixers for e-juice, but I've never heard of a test tube shaker before.

I've noticed a few members posting on the DIY Flavoring Thread - Part 2 use those hobby paint shakers.

Several members love these little $6 mixers:

Amazon.com: Norpro Cordless Mini Mixer, 5 Piece Set

I'm going to pick up one of those myself sometime, just to do an initial mix before GUCEing.

I believe the ultrasonics do something deeper than just a rough mix though. The prolonged high frequency exposure...I don't know, seems like it would work deep into the molecular level....quantum homeopathic voodoo or something.:) Just being mixed for hours instead of minutes should make a difference IMO.

I do want to get some good glass or crystal mixing bottles as mentioned earlier in this thread though. Makes perfect sense to me that a more resonant container would make a huge difference in an ultrasonic cleaner.

We just made a quick trip across the border to Bellingham WA and visited ecigexpress. Nice shop and lounge. I picked up a Mini Vivi Nova (works) and some 555 flavoring. Will be GUCE-ing tomorrow. Will report back.

It must be nice to live near enough to visit a big shop like that.

Have you tried any of the Hangsen Tobacco Essence DIY flavors from ECX yet? I haven't quite been able to get all the tobacco nuances I wanted from them yet, but their Desert Ship and Turkish Blend flavors were exactly the ones I was looking for.

It was the first time I've been to a brick and mortar e-cig store/lounge. I'm like all the vapers I know ... waiting for the mailman ... so it was fun making an "impulse" buy and getting my grabby hands on the item immediately. I'm used to a 10-13 day waiting in limbo. There are rumors there's going to be a store/lounge up here in the Vancouver area but I don't know how they're going to get around Health Canada's position on nicotine e-liquid.

It was about a year ago I bought a liter of 100mg nic, a gallon of PG, and 3 flavors from e-cig express (Desert Ship, Cowboy Blend, DK Tobacco Base). I've been pretty happy with the flavors and especially with the Desert Ship. That's the full extent of my DIY flavor continuum. I got a bunch of 555 from CigEasy.com at Christmas along with some Go-Go Premium tanks and added that particular 555 to my daily vapes. I'm hoping the ecig express 555 is as much fun but I need a little more coffee before I'm capable of entering the "lab" mode of fooling around with lethal stuff.

There's a very small vapor shop nearby...just the basics. I need to check out some of the closer big cities.

ecigexpress has three kinds of Dessert Ship flavors now. I have the two newest ones, the Hangsen Tobacco Essence and Tobacco Express super concentrated versions, and I much prefer the Hangsen, it's exactly the Desert Ship flavor I had in mind. I think you have the FlavourArt version of Desert Ship, which I have not tried yet.

The cool thing about the whole Hangsen Tobacco Essence line of flavors is that they already contain a real tobacco extract in addition to the regular flavoring, but I like to add a little bit more diluted Tobacco Absolute to mine.

You're right. FlavourArt's the one I have. At first I made it at 2% which was no fun. Following the directions (start at 1%) resulted in a great vape. But ... it's not like the Desert Ship I'd previously tried from CigEasy.

The 555 is tobaccoexpress made in China and I have high hopes it'll be close to the CigEasy 555.
