Hey, I just wanted to throw in my :2c:, for what it's worth.

I have a mid grade professional Eumax Ultrasonic w/ Heat & Timer $120, and the cheap $25 one. The good one is wonderful for cleaning investment out of freshly cast silver, but it DESTROYS ATTYS (it has literately vibrated a few of them apart). The cheap one is worthless for jewelry making, but is brilliant for cleaning attys and cartos.

The reason that they have cutoffs (3min for the cheap one, 30min for the good one) is that the 'motor' needs to cool down between cycles, as a rule of thumb let it rest for an equal amount of time as the cycle. Your cleaner will thank you by living a long and happy life.

The instructions for the good one say that it should not run more than 3 hours a day, for more than 3 hours you should look at 'industrial grade' starting at about £240 (here).

btw, thanks bobalex, GUCE is a brilliant idea, can't wait for WL to be stocked back up :D

I'm in!!

Just arrived today....threw in the DIY bottle of Desert Ship + tobacco Absolute juice I had in my pocket and it darkened to a nice amber color in about 45 minutes. Tasted smoother and richer too.

Then I made a fresh bottle of Dunhill - tastes pretty good after an hour but I will probably throw it in for another hour.

Very happy so far. Thanks for the great thread idea Bob!!

Now that's a serious Ultrasonic Cleaner!

Yeah, I like the industrial look of it. I perused eBay for a week or two just watching and I noticed that a nice clean used industrial unit would slip by cheap every once in a while, so I decided to jump on one.

This one went for about $80 and it seems to be in great shape, but I still put about an hour into cleaning it just to be safe.

I've used one (ultra-sonic cleaner) on several purchased juices. Haven't tried any DIY yet, but am sure it'll work the same. All except 2 came out perfect the first day right after coming out of the cleaner. Have they improved a little with aging? Perhaps a bit... It's a great tool and well worth the price (about $25US) you can get a small cleaner for. The 3 min cycle is a pain, but not that much of one if you're just putzing on the 'puter and can have the cleaner close enough to your workstation you can hear it shut off... ;)

I sat my cheap harbor freight one beside my computer. Since I spend more time on it, I can keep mine going for quite a while.

Thanks bobalex for the awesome inspiration......

After reading thorough your entire thread I decided to dive in head first. With the possibility of the FDA getting involved next month, DIY juice has become a very important concept to me. I feel the need to be self-sufficient. While I welcome "some" regulation, as in properly labeled ingredients and concentrations, I fear they will overstep that sensible goal like they do with so many other things. :glare:

Anyway, here is what I just ordered. I went for this model as it is popular in Dental Office applications so I am hoping it will hold up better than the $35 household ones. I also wanted something I could clean jewelry and other small parts with. It has a 30 minute timer which is hard to find in anything less that $100.

Will let you all know how it does on juice.

Thanks again for excellent idea.

Mike

First thanks for this thread! I have learned a lot. I'm knew to vaping (started about a month ago) and not being someone who only goes halfway I ordered some nic, flavorings PG and VG and have started mixing my e-juice. The basic flavors tasted pretty good but the tobacco flavors were bad. That's when I found this thread thank god! So I broke down and went to Harbor freight last night and pick-up a small $30.00 US and spent the night hitting the button every three min. lol and I hate it but I'm cheap so that's what I get. I threw some M-type, RY4 and a Desert Sands that had not steeped at all in and 4 hours later they were goooood. Now I'll be looking for a better unit with a 30 min timer lol.

Mine arrived yesterday and I am very pleased with it. It is quite sturdy, has a digital heater and timer up to 30 minutes. The link is in my post below.

I keep the bottle caps on to avoid any leakage possibilities.

This past week I started using a bigger glass bottle because of the weight of it so the juice isn't anywhere near the top resulting in no chance of leakage unless i drop it as I was picking it up

Have you ever tried it with the cap off? Did you notice any difference?

Thanks
