Hello Mike... Did you build or buy your Temperature Controller? I'm looking for a good controller.

Chuck

I built the unit.

An off the shelf 1/16th din Temp Controller, a SSD, a thermocouple jack, an ethernet jack for recording and programming, a few switches and power jacks, and a case.

Good looking unit. Been looking at the Solo Temp Controller. Noticed you have a Solo. If its not to much trouble would you have the wiring diagram and parts list?

Thanks
Chuck

Nice unit.....I bought one similar for my electric smoker...Auburins I think...controls heat element and box temp and makes a lazy but happy smoker out of an old man..:D

Oh gosh, I didnt do a wiring diagram or any of that. I just bought the stuff and hooked it up. The only thing I put on paper was the cutout dimensions for the faceplate.

The case was expensive, it was about $100, but I wanted a sturdy portable case with a carry handle. The rest of the parts werent that bad. The Solo is the next most expensive. If you really want to build one, I can help assuming you have some basic electrical skills, PM me and lets move it to email.

Kudos to Mike and the crew for a most impressive series of test. :) Your hard work and dedication is most appreciated by this mere mortal who got lousy grades in chemistry. /lol

You make me feel guilty for just lurking so the pic below is Bananas Foster from Ahlusion 50/50 PG/VG @ 6MG.

The remaining Taste testers should be recieving their samples tomorrow....

In the meantime I am waiting on some equipment from WL.

I have cooked all of the various samples.

I did some preliminary testing today, and if my results are repeated with the new equipment I am going to be eating a heavy helping of Crow......

I will publish the results once I get the more accurate equipment from WL and retest, but so far it looks like no loss even at 194F for 24 hours. I did 3 tests on each of the Control, the 150F at 24 hours, and the 194F at 24 hours. All 9 samples consumed either 10.5ml or 10.6ml of HCL, and the .1ml HCL variance was evenly distributed between the 3 bottles. This equates to 34.07mg to 34.39mg in all 3, from uncooked to 194F at 24hours.

I did discover a really stupid mistake I made in my first round of testing. I did not look close enough at the Burette I was using. It is a 10ml Burette, and I mistakenly thought that if I emptied the burette completely it had dispensed 10ml. WRONG. There is some space below the 10ml mark, and you have to stop it at the 10ml mark and then refill, or you wont know the true value. During the first round of testing I allowed the burette to empty completely and then I refilled it, counting the first fill as 10ml. Bottom line, the first test I did in my blog is totally invalid!

I hang my head in shame, but I will post the results upon retesting, using my newly acquired knowledge, and the new burette that WL is sending.

No shame at all. It's a learning experience and the knowledge gained is invaluable. Mike I am greatful that your even doing this. The testing you’re doing here will live in infamy here on ECF

OK, it arrived with UPS (I actually blamed the wrong carrier, oh well) about 10 minutes after my post.

I had to let the bottles cool down a bit. Almost summer down here....

Color: CS, A then B (lightest to darkest). Not much between them though.
I am using 3 identical Aspire mini nova 2 Ohm on a sigelei 20W.
First round of vaping.
CS is clearly harsher than the other 2. There is not much between A and B. Currently I think A is just a tad smoother.
I let my taste buds come to neutral and test again in about 30 minutes or so....

Cheers.

OK, now I am really lost....
I cannot find the post with the recipe in it to better pinpoint the flavor, nor the start, but I think the samples are now close to 3 weeks old?

I got my wife to jumble up the cartomizers and I held my eyes closed.
I could detect CS. But I could not detect A or B. This time I thought of B being "better".
I cannot really say this or that one has better/more flavor. All I can detect is the smoothness of the experience, if that makes any sense.
In short this is more a tie (for the moment) for me.

I will keep sampling/posting until somebody posts the winning ticket....
:)

So Cal
Mine are here too - and they're labeled 'doggie,' 'birdie,' 'kitten' ....LOLOL

Since my Reos all have coils with different resistances, I'm going to use new coil assemblies in Triton tanks on Halo batteries, as I have three of those.

Just charging up the last battery, and then I'll do my tests. I'm thinking that the real names are under the blue tape:D

OK Folks, got the flavorings and bottles on Monday, sorry but last 2 nights were already booked. Company dinner on Monday night and last night I had to box up an ECF Co-op for a bunch of DNA30s.

200 DNA30s boxed and ready to ship......

Nobody has given me a final recipe, please speak up! I intend to do this trial tomorrow evening and ship the results out on Friday.

If I dont hear anything I will make it like this:
(anything can be adjusted, just speak up)

50/50 PG/VG base
24 mg/l Nic
DRY4 7%
Caramel 2%
Cream 2%

Unless someone voices some other desire I will do the trial like this:
  • Mix a 100ml batch of the above recipe.
  • Put 30ml into 3 different glass bottles.
  • Steep one bottle in the Ultrasonic at 150f for 3 hours
  • Steep one bottle in the Crock Pot at 150f for 3 hours
  • Dispense results into 10ml plastic bottles labeled: Control Sample (unsteeped), Sample A, and Sample B.
  • Ship 3 sets of samples out the next day.

Still need the Postage and Addresses for the three samplers.........

The recipe!

So Cal
I always find juice to be muted in top coil tanks, and the Tritons are no exception. I've been going back and forth between the three for 10 minutes, with multiple glasses of water, and I'm having a very hard time differentiating between the three. Since the tanks are colored, I can't differentiate the color either, so while I have a vague idea that one may be the CS the difference is in fact pretty negligible at this stage.
