I've gone from a pack a day (25) to about a pack a week, maybe as low as 20 in a week.
That's most weeks, some have been better, some have been worse.

But I do take pride in knowing that's 150 cigarettes I didn't smoke this week.

The morning ciggy is a really tough thing to give up ! I'm waiting on some 24mg carts to arrive and hopefully those be the ideal thing to give me that morning hit. The rest of the day there is as much as possible an e-mister in my mouth or hands.

I think there is something about the nature of cigarette smoke that keeps me using it ...
I'm actually smoking a cig now to see if I can put my finger on it ...
There is something about the "weight" of the smoke I think, it seems to have a more satisfying feel in my mouth when I draw on the cig and the same when I inhale and also on the exhale. The nicotine hit also seems a bit more immediate than any e-mister I've tried yet. Although I seem to get a longer period of nicotine satisfaction from an e-mister than with a cigarette. Perhaps the immediacy of the rush effect from the cigarette is part of it ?

After I saw Dusty's vid review of his DSE901 from myecig.com and saw the great clouds of billowing mist that produced, I decided I had to get one. Unfortunately I couldn't get one from myecig, they aren't setup to cater for international ordering just yet. So I have one coming, due to arrive any day now, from the UK. That I'm hoping will be a better solution for me and help to further reduce my dependence on the evil weed.

What I can say is that I don't like the taste of cigarettes anymore, but I still do it.
I don't like now all the mess they make, I'm noticing it particularly around my desk
I don't like the smell of the smoke, and I really notice the smell of smokers now and in rooms were people have been smoking.

I guess I'm in a transition phase now, evil weed almost gone from my life. My aim is to be completely tobacco free in the longer term, whether that means I'll stop using my e-misters as well I can't say yet. As others have commented before, it's all the actions associated with smoking that can be just as addictive as the smoking action itself. That's even more so with a good cigar, the selection, the preparation, the drama of getting lit correctly, the preservation of the ash, even the removal of the ash all add immensely to the enjoyment of the act of smoking it. A pipe is the same, the act of filling a pipe, getting it lit correctly, and the joy of a well packed, even smoking pipe with a top notch cavendish is hard to beat.

No e-mister yet has come close to giving me the tactility of a cigar or a good pipe, those are the pleasures of smoking these things.

Messing about with dripping, topping off, refilling, squeezing, mixing batches are all great fun at the moment, but I wonder how long before the fascination with the hobby side of it wears a bit thin. Also the frustration of poorly or non functioning devices pays a big role in my reverting back to tobacco ... Tobacco is always there, it just needs a flame and for 99%+ of the time it performs it's function perfectly. With an e-mister there is always that wee nagging doubt in the back of your mind ... will this work ok this time, is today the day the atomiser is going to give out, is this the battery I charged last night, will this battery fail me today, have I got everything I need for the day ... 2 e-misters, 2 spare batteries, 2 spare carts, juice for top off, should I put my charger in my bag just in case, will my last atomiser keep going until the replacements arrive, I hope the replacements work when they do get here, have I remembered to post those busted ones back yet ?

Until those nagging doubts can be allayed and e-misting can become as thought-free a process as cigarettes are now it just not going to do it as a general use device.

We are the pioneers in this field and we are all here talking about it because we like the processes involved with this new thing we do, even all the frustrations and dramas we go through on a daily basis we all seem to mostly enjoy, and we also enjoy sharing our thoughts and experiences on it with other people.

But for mainstream use and acceptance it's got to be a lot simpler and way way more user friendly than it is now. Tobacco in all it's forms can be used by anyone no matter who or what they are, it has no age, intelligence, no physical limitations to it's use ... take it out of the pack, light it, suck on it, throw it away.

Just the technology behind an e-mister is going to be off putting to a large group of people, never mind the recharging of batteries, topping off of carts, refilling of carts, recognising the problem when it stops making mist ... battery or atomiser, empty cart. That's going to be beyond a lot of peoples care comfort zone, it will be too much hassle. How about the no electricity problem, bushmen smoke too, this wont work for them.

No there is still a long long way to go before these will replace the simplicity of cigarettes for me and I'd think for most people out there.

IMHO having 2 real cigs a day is even harder than not having any at all. Anytime that I have drastically cut back on smoking, my only focus throughout the day was the next time I could have a cigarette.

But, whatever works for you is what counts. You're doing great! :thumb:

You're probably quite right there spider.

On mornings I e-mist instead of smoke cigarettes, I tend to notice the stimulant effect of the mist more than I do from cigarette smoke. It's a different sensation to the rush hit I get from a cigarette, but the nicotine effect from the mist seems to last longer, it just doesn't give the same almost instant hit but tends to build up.

I attribute a lot of the rush hit effect to all the other crap in smoke, CO and CO2 being a big part of it

That was an excellent commentary, Michael (and Windblown is on-target with how hard it is to maintain 2 cigs a day). The thing is, you yourself pointed out two much-better ways to burn tobacco -- cigars and pipes. Do NOT inhale either. Just enjoy the experience and nicotine rush that comes on slowly and lasts a long time. They are a day's dessert, and should be used that way. Cigarettes are the druggie's injection of nicotine, straight to the lungs. You are correct to make every move you can away from that.

Good luck in the future. Just don't expect me to call this e-misting. I don't do that. :) I smoke e-cigarettes and write commentaries to the e-cigarette-forum (Coming Soon: The Portable Smoking Machine Forum).

;) I'll call it e-misting if I want to Bob ;)

The problem for me is that I enjoy inhaling the smoke from cigars and pipes as well, it just doesn't seem the same to me if I'm not puff, puff, puff, inhale, rest, puff, puff, puff, inhale ... etc with them.

Emp I think made the comment about snus pouches which is also the same for me ... if it goes in my mouth it gets chewed, that's why gum never worked out for me, that's supposed to sit in your cheek for long periods of time ... not in my mouth, my teeth are there for a purpose, chewing things.

I used to smoke about a pack a day, now I'm down to 2.

I really want a real cigarette in the morning with my cup of coffee.
Then I want a second one, sometimes I do smoke that one, sometimes not.
I try to make myself feel guilty, because I have spend a whole lot of money on these e-cig's.
Might as well use them.

Now I take a fresh cartridge and fully loaded battery, and start puffing.

As long as I maintain the puffing, I'm fine.

personally,i think its easier in the long run to just bite the bullet and abstain from ciggies totally.

ok,it isnt easy sometimes, but if you want to kick analogue smoking entirely, you have to break with old habits...sure,id like a cig with my tea occasionally,or after a meal...but as a CIGARETTE addict(its not just nicotine i found addictive about the act of smoking,if that makes sense)...thats a crutch i cant afford to use.

of course thats just me,im sure some are happy to just cut down...for me its all or nothing-it can be a slippery slope,i think.

ive come this far,and i dont intend to waste my efforts at this stage.
