Stinkin' Nicotine

It is the smell that makes me wonder. Since I've been doing this awhile and I tend to go through quite a bit, I usually have a liter, in reserve, in the freezer. So nearly everything I mix is using nicotine that is a few months old, or older.

Having a slight tint is typical, but only once did I ever have any that had a smell. (Thankfully I only had a small quantity of that batch and have never used that vendor again.) But it is tough to get a good taste out of your juice when you have nic with a wang to it.

Is it possible to put the remainder in reserve to only be used in the most dire of future times?

My concerns exactly.....Nicotine is not that expensive to warrant using sub-par flavor liquid, IMHO. If it's not any good now it will only get worse with time. Keeping it would mean you would have to suffer through roughly 46 X 30ml bottles at 18mg per ml., not worth it to me.

Maybe you did make this clear, but I have been up all night so my perception is not 100%... it is all the bottles (split from the big bottle) that have this smell, not just the one you are currently using?

I have a new bottle on the way. I thought I'd get it today but didn't, so maybe tomorrow. Anyway, I plan on sticking what's left of the stinky stuff back in the freezer for emergencies only. It was a 500 ml bottle and I divided it up into smaller bottles and froze it. I take one bottle out at a time and keep it refrigerated when I'm not mixing. All the other bottles from that batch were fine. It's this last one that has developed the bad odor and that's happened in the past 2-3 weeks. It gets worse each time I use it. I've been doctoring it up with lemon juice and vinegar when I mix so I'm not dealing with a real bad taste, (yet) but my juices definitely are suffering a bit. My main reason for posting was to find out if there was a possible danger when it goes south like this has. It smells like dirty socks or fishy like. Kinda hard to describe. None of the other bottles from that batch did this, that's what has me befuddled.

It usually means oxidation and that isn't harmful. Just tastes like penny's covered on sardine juice with a hint of pepper background. Or something like that.

You described it to a tee Hoosier! Maybe I need to down size my storage bottles.

The smaller the headspace, the slower that happens. Glass is suppose to help too.
