Buried in books
I'm so behind. Yes, I'm in the US.
I do have an iStick pico and a spare still in the box which uses 18650 batteries but my charger died so I've been using the isticks. Plus, the Zenith won't fit on that.

So now I need a charger (have good batteries), and a couple good mods, a few more tanks, and maybe some nic - though I frequently vape very low to zero nic now so will likely be ok. Been off the cigs for years now so nicotine is only necessary when life gets stressful. Oh - wait - things are a bit stressful everywhere at the moment!
What I'd like to do is get tanks that will use the same coils as I can't build. (bad eyesight) I've got lots of boxes for the Zenith. The Zlide takes the same coils, I assume (though I likely shouldn't). Do have a Nauti mini or two, but they are not nearly as nice a vape as the Ceros or the Zenith.

I don't need a tight draw I like some airflow. :2cool: Hoping to keep this simple as I can but not get caught vapeless in 5 years!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Between 10 -12 watts. Same with the Zenith. Depending on the coil. Usually using a 1.6 in the Zenith.
I'm gathering mech mods may need a lower ohm than my tanks can handle?

I'm surprised you can vape an Aspire BVC (non-nautilus) coil at 10-12W.

I'm gonna send you a PM soon but have to gather some links.

Also according to a couple of articles I read, the Zenith and the Zlide take the same exact coils

@Ed Brown I know your post is from Tuesday, but if you're looking for a great recent mech, I am very impressed with this Trishul mechanical mod by Hellvape. Very well built and a constant contact switch that really impresses me. I have the brass one, and am thinking about picking up a black version. Might give it a look.

Thanks I will check it out. I just received a Vapelyfe Arcless v2 copper edition with the black knurled finish and like it so much that I ordered another. They have a poly liner in the tube to protect against shorts and come with spare springs and other parts too. Nothing like getting in under the wire.

I've heard really good things about the Arcless. I never did pick up that one, I ended up with the Dejavu DJV mechanical mod which is very similar, but only an 18650...which is cool but have to adjust the build accordingly. That Arcless is getting pretty hard to find in the US now, looks like China is the only option for it now, I think.

If indeed the vape mail ban puts an end to this party, I'm wondering how people are approaching it. Obviously there is cheap hardware and expensive hardware, with the idea that the "good" stuff will last longer. I'm thinking especially of box mods. For example, DNA chips. Are they supposed to last longer than what you get in a $40 mod?

So, are you buying fewer good things, or more cheaper things? Are you saving the good stuff for some day in the future and using up the cheap stuff now? Or are you using the good stuff, thinking that it will last a long long time.

Myself, I don't have a strategy on this but am interested to hear what others have to say.
What I need to be doing is focusing on E Liquid what I seem to be doing is buying new atomizers and even new mods when I don't need any of those. I really need to buckle down and try to perfect my clone of my favorite e-juice but it hasn't been easy for being a pink lemonade it is really difficult because I'm just not the kind of person that can taste something and distinguish what it is in E Juice

I have successfully made it to 0mg until 5 or 6 hours before bedtime. So I am going on average, 10hrs before I switch to nicotine juice. In addition, I am only vaping home made 0.5mg juice once my 10hrs are up. Half a milligram per milliliter. It sounds crazy but that’s where I’m at right now. So my meager amount of nicotine in my freezer should last me a lifetime. I am noticing extreme fatigue in my evenings and, yes, I am extremely stressed, and feeling bipolar, between breakfast and my first hit of nicotine, to be honest... but it’s nothing I haven’t been through before and the brain has plasticity so here’s to hoping i start feeling better soon. I have amassed quite a collection of cheap garbage mods over the years and two handfuls of more expensive mods... to be honest, I don’t really like most of them which is why I use the ones I am using now, but, ehhhh... they’ll pull me through in a pinch.

to be honest with you all, I am not yet convinced things will ever be so bad that you won’t be able to purchase a new mod. Maybe they’ll be more expensive. Maybe juice will be a dollar a milliliter, who knows, but I doubt it’ll ever be impossible to vape. But don’t take my word for it. God only knows.

I only started stashing nic in Dec 2019 and my last purchase was in Dec 2020, so all my nic was bought within a 12 month period. In other words, my whole nic stash is roughly the same age, pretty much. When that year comes where the nic starts going bad, it's all gonna go bad at about the same time.
Unless it's all from the same batch, from the same vendor, I don't think that's a worry.

FWIW, I'm still mixing with and vaping nic I bought in 2014, and so far, it has all been "good as new".

Nic is not like milk, where it stays good for a certain amount of time and then spoils all of a sudden. That effect in milk is due to the exponential multiplication of microbes, which simply isn't a factor with nic base. If nic base has stayed "fresh" for a couple of years in whatever manner you are storing it, I believe it will probably stay fresh that way more-or-less indefinitely.

It has never been impossible to do any number of unspeakable (on ECF) things. The question is: What risk and expense are you willing to take in order to do a that thing?

If you haven't tried this "one shot" of it yet, from One Stop DIY Shop, you may want to. IMO, and that of several friends, too...it's a very good pink lemonade vape. The only thing some of us add to it...is a small amount of sweetener to suit our own tastes. It tastes like the real thing to all of us.

Your One Stop Shop for DIY Flavoring, Great Prices and Great Customer Service

They have an on-going 12% off coupon code, too, that's JFK or ECF...either one will work.

I just bought 2 noisy crickets (a v1 and a v2), 3 new tanks and a 12"×12" sheet of pure 24g copper to cut into internals for a few wood box mechs. I've made my own juice for the last 10 years and have enough nic to last at least that long if not longer in the deep freezer. That being said, anyone who's vaped as long as I have should be more than prepared.

I AM currently considering switching back to mechs full time (hence the pair of crickets) just because of the fiddlyness of regulated boxes. Even the ones with better chips seem to always have their quirks. Very few can really take a beating and survive. But I pulled out an 8 year old stingray mod today just for a nostalgia vape and it works like new.

Mech mods and diy juice. That's how you beat the ban hammer.

Bought a whole bunch of mid-range quality mods, tanks and more coils than I'll ever need and stuck them in a cabinet two years ago. Haven't thought about it much since then, even if 1/3 are broken I'm still fine.

Enough nic base to last me until about 90 years old stuck in the freezer.
