Hi Guys,

So, I took the plunge into making my own e-liquid.
Bought everything I needed...

I purchased a bottle of Bubblegum and a bottle of Strawberry from Decadent Vapors.

30ml bottle
6mg nicotine
15% Bubblegum
5% Strawberry
50/50 PG/VG mix.

Once I finished making it, I gave the bottle a good shake for about 2 minutes, popped into the microwave for 8 seconds, so it was lightly warm to touch - Gave it another shake for 2 minutes and let it sit in a dark cupboard at room temperature for 12 hours with the lid off.
I then replaced the lid and shook for another 2 minutes and it's been sitting in the cupboard for 3 days now. I took it out this morning to drop some of it into my rda but the taste was just.... "meh". Quite chemically tasting.

I get the bubblegum and strawberry, but only very light.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I've read people mention sweetener, but I'm pretty clueless so was hoping for some tips/advice on how to get the flavors to "burst"

Thanks for reading.

Good morning and welcome!

There are many variables in DIY which will effect the final product. Most likely in this case the flavoring percentage, although it could be the nic base as well. You will also need to tell us what brand flavorings you are using as there can be major differences between the same flavors from different companies.

Here's where I learned how to get the flavors I was looking for

E-Cigarette Forum - Str8V8ping - Blogs

And another

E-Cigarette Forum - Hoosier - Blogs

I would begin by reading these and, if you haven't yet, read all the stickies in the DIY forum.

Best of luck, enjoy the journey!

First question and the most important.

What did it taste like before the nuking and breathing?

Umm, it was quite harsh tasting,

Quick Update:
I've just put a 3ml into my Kanger Subtank, its 1000x better than on my RDA - The more I think about it, the bubblegum flavour is so intense its actually making the taste harsh.

Maybe I should have went for a 7.5% Bubblegum and a 2.5% Strawberry - Although, saying that, I cant really taste the Strawberry at all, so maybe 5% / 5% would have been better.

Gonna make up another a few 10ml bottles later on with less of each flavour, leave them for a week and see if I can get the flavoring right

I don't know....received 5 tobacco flavors from DV last Tuesday. Bottles suggest 10-25% usage. I tried at 15%, with barely any hints of flavor, at 25% the juices were actually distinguishable from one another, but so weak that I gave up.
at. lbs3.40 each one would expect something...flavor, at least.
Needless to say that with Shipping cost to the US at lbs.10.99 plus price of flavorless flavors I won't be venturing into their webpage again anytime soon.

OK, the American Red blend was actually tasty at 30%...but 10 ml bottle will only yield me 30 mls of juice. No bargain here!!

Interesting. Thanks for your response.
I've just ordered a load of flavours (Capella and TFA) from a local company, I'll give those a whirl and hopefully get some good results.

I've made up a batch of 5% / 5% of Bubblegum and strawberry which is currently steeping. I'll let you know how that comes out.
Also, the longer I'm vaping this original batch, the nicer it's getting. Maybe my taste buds mind.

All a learning curve I guess.

Thanks

Don't forget tobacco flavours really do need some steeping time.
Give them a week or two and try them again - I bet they'll have improved.
