Theres also the stubborn factor to consider.

My dad was raised in an era when meat was shipped in railroad cars with no or not very reliable refrigeration. To this day he still eats everything well done and so do both of my brothers.

Last family cookout my middle brother started trying to lecture me about how I shouldnt eat meat that isnt cooked and I busted out laughing right in his face.

Couldnt help myself, Ive worked in the restaurant business for 20 years.I think I know a thing or two about food and I'd sooner eat my boot than a well done filet.

Point is until he wants to quit or starts showing a more open mind youre just frustrating yourself. Be happy in the fact that you tried and it might work 6 months from now.

Did you tell them about cooking carcinogens? :)

NO..because I know by now it wont make any difference to them either way.

If youre going to eat a steak well done a filet is not the smartest choice in the world to begin with.....but hey what do I know? It was only my JOB for 20 years....lol

WRONG!!!! They don't have to want to quit to START vaping!!! Or try it here and there. Chit!!

It took me 3 months+ and a TON of different juices before my wife took it serious. And I'm still working on others

He11!! I didn't want to quit when I started vaping!!

...!

Hear, hear!!!

I would like to think that people are not all gone to hell in a hand basket and can't be influenced in any way. Sure, there are some tough nuts to crack but if you care, you'll at least keep trying to help when you can.

I loved smoking and now I vape almost exclusively. I didn't want to give up smoking either but my rational brain keeps telling me I cannot keep smoking and not have health issues. I gave up my first love - ciggies - when I found my second love that is almost as nice and in some ways nicer- vaping.

Have to careful especially in dealing with family that you dont across as a zealot. Its great that you want to help your family quit but some simply arent ready for it and pushing the issue with someone whos stubborn isnt helping.

I call it the bible pamphlet effect :)

I do have to agree with you that you don't want to come across as a zealot!!!!! It is a fine line to walk some days but I don't think that nobody ever changes their behavior. Sometimes they do and sometimes it is because of outside influences.

Yeah I try not to push it to much. Offer from time to time. This is my dad we are talking about. If it was anyone else I would drop it and leave it alone, but I fear he really doesn't have much time left.

Zapped the thing with the meat....my mom can take a great steak and just burn the heck out of it! On purpose! Whyyyy?!!!

I so tried to make people quit at work but got:

-I brought it to my parent`s house this weekend, forgot it there,my mom put it in the thrash
-I lost it (everything,charger,PCC,2 batteries,carts,bottle,the lot)

...or I get quotes from 2009 old gov propaganda (you know, the same we`ve all seen)

My target group is hopeless

They grats me on stopping cigs for 13 months but I still get the:"but you suck on this still"

Well in my case I have a stubborn "old" lady that I would love to give vaping a try. She is my best friend and has smoked for 50 years, she has COPD and has been trying to quit for 2 years with nicorette gum and now the lozenges. I had her try mine - and of course she coughed on the two tries - so she figures it won't work for her. I did tell her that she coughs when she smokes too :?:

I smoked for 46 years and just tried vaping - to see if I could cut down on the 1 & 1/2 PAD that I was smoking. Then once I got my eGo Twist and some better juice - I just quit smoking and didn't even plan to. Somehow I was really hoping that she would see how well it has worked for me and would also give it a try.

However, her response is "well I just don't need that - I only smoke 1/2 PAD and with the lozenges I am only smoking 3/4 a day" Which is true right now - but just a few weeks ago she was on holidays and had to go to a clinic twice while away because she was smoking too much and couldn't breathe.

Her most recent excuse is that her sister is coming to visit and she smokes - so it is too hard to try right now. I guessing that she will be in trouble again by the time her sister leaves. I just really wish she would realize that she could vape while others are smoking and it would be so much better for her. I just can't help but see her dragging around an oxygen tank in the very near future - just like her mother had to do. She knows she is headed to the same fate as her mom (who died in her early 70's) and she is 65 and headed down the same path.

So - because she is "older" than me - I know she figures she "knows" better than me - so all I can do is keep vaping (I go outside with her, she smokes and I vape) and hope that someday soon she will give this a try - before she has to be on oxygen all the time or worse :(

Some people are just too stubborn for their own good.

This has worked for me. . A friend just called me and asked what he needs to get started. . I put this on FB ;)

Some people ask me why I vape instead of smoke and they ask me why they should switch to vaping. . I ask them to look at their son, daughter, grandkid, wife, husband, best friend, "special someone". . Anyone who mean something to you and say this. . .

I will NO longer be in your life because I wouldn't stop smoking. . will never see you get married.. . Graduate. . See you in your prom dress/tux.. Get to tuck you in at night. . Teach you how to drive. . Tell you about the birds/bees. . Stay up all night and watch Spiderman with you. . Teaching them how to swim or fish.. etc, etc. I will never get to do that because I was the one whom insisted on smoking..

If you don't say it now you wont get the chance to say it later.

Stop and think about the last time you were proud of that someone and I ask you, would you have missed it? That touch down. . that winning run. . getting themselves dressed w/o help. . When they talk to you on the phone and say "I love you, poopie pants". . That look on their face as they see your RC car doing 70mph down the street. . The time they played in the leaves. . When you tucked them into bed and they say "lub you". . That time when they said "I did it myself, daddy". . When they made you breakfast/lunch/dinner. . Did the laundry for you. . Fixed your car.
What are you gona miss when you are gone.
Those few extra months/years can really make a difference in your loved ones lives

I don't smoke I vape because those few extra minutes with my wife, daughter and family mean more than puffing on a cigarette.

I am going to quit cold turkey....after this pack. How many of us have used this excuse? Well I have used it more times than I care to admitt or could even count! About four years ago a family member bought and overpriced piece of crap e cig off the radio. From what I hear it was quite the dissapointment. Tasted like burning cigarette butts ect. This thing made a very bad impression. For the past 4 months I have tried convincing these guys that not all e cigarettes are like that. Two days ago I dropped off one of my 808 kits with a brand new pack of cartomizers. "Thanks but I am going to quit cold turkey". Less than 24 hours later the ecig remains untouched and it's back to smoking. Then there is the whole thing where I hear "I don't trust e cigs". Oh just typing this is making me soooo mad bah! There is also the complete distrust of products from other countries. Can folks here please give me some advice? Good products things that have a reputation for being safe? Anything you can think of would be helpful from juice, juice delivery, and the device it's self. What would be the best setup for the most paranoid potential vaper? Links backing this would be greatly appreciated.
I've lost count for me and others. But one in a group of friends finally after seeing us vaping got a small kit. He still says I'm going to quit and my response was "have you smoked since you got that" " no " well in a sense you have your not smoking". Hie is at high Nic count right now which I bounce and back and forth on. It went from I'm guessing in this large group 20 or so smokers to now 5 are vapers now and not smoking at this point. Screw Chantex. Not heard a good thing about it yet. I didn't try any of that other stuff because it's more than Nicotine. It is an obsession of the mind and a physical craving. My brother quit dipping and smoking cold turkey and he has to be over 300 pounds and he is shorter than me like 5'10". So in 6 months when your still not smoking maybe they will get the hing cuz we just got a hard liner in our group to quit our way.
