I saw this article a while ago. It was an eye-opener for me. I typically cite it when new members complain about not getting enough nicotine and are on the verge of relapse. It's usually because they vape their devices just like when they smoked.

Compared to smoking one tobacco cigarette, the EC devices and liquid used in this study delivered one-third to one-fourth the amount of nicotine after 5 minutes of use.

Doesn't this kinda Jive with the fact that Vapers use a Much Larger amount of Nicotine per day than they did when they Smoked Cigarettes?

BTW - If all the Nicotine doesn't get Absorbed by an e-Cigarette User's body, where does it go?

Yes, I was having a hard time getting rid of my 1st smoke of the day, until I realized that when I'm half-asleep, I was trying to vape as if I was smoking, short puffs, straight down the lungs. Once I addressed that, that morning smoke wasn't hard to do without.

I'm not. I smoked roughly a pk a day, of 6mg cigarettes -- that's 120mg a day. I vape maybe 10ml (or less!) a day, of 6-8mg ejuice -- which is only, at most, 60-80mg per day. And if it's not absorbing as easily as smoke, then I may not be getting even that much. And no, I really can't vape any more than that; when I smoked, I had to do it periodically, running out to the porch every 30-60 minutes, but with vaping, I do it constantly, so if I vape any higher mg, I get nic sick FAST -- within 1 or 2 hrs.

I can tell I'm not getting nearly as much, because of the constipation problem -- always hit me when I tried to quit before, really badly, and even with 60-80mg a day, it's still cause to eat a lot of apple sauce, dbl fiber bread, and beans. With the extra water I'm drinking because of vaping, the additional fiber helps a lot, and keeps me more or less normal -- but it's a struggle.

I did recently start mixing my daytime ejuice to 9mg, to see if it helps; it's not causing any sick feelings, so maybe 9mg is ok for my constant vaping, but still considerably less than the 120+ mg I was getting from cigarettes.

Great find OP!!
I imagine that a cigarette delivers the entire strength of nicotine level mg because it it "boosted" with ammonia. If the smoke co didn't "boost" the 2.4mg, I imagine the body would show the same results as the eCig. (Half). A cigarette would last several hours, but a vape lasts only 15 minutes-ish. Unless we "boost" it or use the higher amount, we will vape more often until we accustom to the amount we are getting. Once that happens, we can cut it out completely if desired. A lot of Vapers start off with 24mg plus a side order of Swedish Snus or maybe even a patch. That's what makes the eCig so fascinating, it is extremely customizable to suit the individual as long as the individual knows the various ways to help.
Perhaps the "boosted" nic from a smoke reads only half too? Yet, all tests of SHS prove not much is exhaled at all. Perhaps Dr.F will explain it someday. Obviously it's eVaporette able. If we're going to worry about evaporated things still being in our face, then I do believe we've all breathed in outrageous amounts of more hazardous materials than little old nicotine. Gas, paint thinners, Shrek burps...

Wow... 6mg of Nicotine per Cigarette? Those are some Strong Cigarettes. What kind were they?

And Nicotine for an Analog is rated as the amount that the "Average" person absorbs into their Body. Where as Nicotine in a e-Liquid is Rated as to the Total Nicotine present in 1ml before it is Vaporized.

Two Completely Different Scales of Measuring Nicotine.

The various attys use various amounts of eLiquid. The more powerful the vapor, the more the Vaper dilutes their nicotine. I imagine that the nicotine is hitting more equivocally. But, the devil hates fluffy white clouds or anything resembling the heavens above, so we have to keep the white fluffy clouds to a minimum when we are around others. The smoke clouds pretty much stays consistent, some smoke more than others, but there is not a tremendous difference in amounts of output like with heavenly vapor. The devil loses that contest.

I have no idea what you're talking about. My cigarettes were ultra-lights; on the VA Slims website, it shows their nicotine content as 6mg.

The rest of that is somewhat irrelevant, as we can only measure by the scales we're given.

So when a Company HR Manager, who is deciding an e-Cigarette Use Policy, asks me where the Nicotine in a e-Cigarette goes what do I tell Him/Her?

That is goes "Where do all evaporated liquids go"?

Wouldn't it be Nice to be able to Provide them with something a Little More Scientific that that? And maybe a Link or Two?

Start with this, we paid for it.

I think the OP link overstates the nic factor. In the video by Lynn Dawkins

Electronic cigarettes: What we know so far - YouTube

.... she cites a study that found that 1st generation cigalikes didn't do it for some smokers whereas the 2nd generation - eGos, etc. did. And the reason was that the 2nd generation ecigs were more like cigarettes as far as nicotine absorption but no mention that it should be 50mgs. Just that the 18mg actually got to the blood stream better with eGos than with cigalikes.

So... to answer the question as to where the 'extra' nic goes - it goes to the vaper when using a 2nd generation and likely stays as gunk on the coil or in the coil wrap in a carto with cigalikes because of incomplete atomization..... :)
