A man`s gonna do what man gonna do! I threw away some of my juices, I mean I threw away some of my money :( That is part of the reason I got into DIY. At least I`m gonna screw the juices myslef and not have to pay a ton of money for already screwed juices :D

I've got 50ml bottles! Perfect. I tried some of the juices I didn't like in the CE5's on the fixed voltage egos with the phoenix atty on the Vamo. It's actually nice to have something completely different to try and I enjoyed them, for a short time. I'm going to keep everything and rotate it through. I'm hoping I'll have a few more recipes that I can really get to like as well. Looking forward to trying the raspberry and the mango I ordered. Fruits have mostly been a disaster for me but I keep hoping I'll find something I really like.

Some time this weekend I am going to mix up 50ml batched of my cherry cigar and Light tobacco. I may tweek things slightly based on what I have learned about how these steep. Mainly, the adjunct flavourings in the light tobacco need to be tweeked upwards slightly because they go to the background a bit too much. I'll update the recipes when I'm done if this is the case.

I made a 50ml batch of my Light Tobacco. (I'll have to find a more catchy name, any suggestions?). It tastes exactly like the 30ml batch which was made a week ago, so no appreciable effects from steeping yet. I guess it's vaping it ALL DAY that is making the adjuct flavourings be a little muted. Drinking water does help and I've decided to not adjust the recipe any further at this stage.

I've just finished the last of the 30ml batch - the 50ml batch should last me much longer, especially if I start swapping it out a bit more. I should probably just make a second 50ml batch (100ml total!) but I'm very nervous. I guess the flavour is that light, that it's hard to go wrong really... and yes I've been vaping it all week and still like it very much. I'm still marvelling at how much my tastes have changed.

I'm also going to re-visit my Smoky Cherry Cigar. Will tone down the flavours considerably, and see how that works.

I'm still waiting for the next batch of flavours to arrive - should have been here Friday but they were not posted until a day later than I expected. Flavours I've got coming:

Absinthe
Almond Amaretto
Cola Double Concentrate
Graham Cracker Clear
Kentucky Bourbon
Mango
Raspberry

The fruit flavours are mostly Capella drops because I've heard great things about them. Originally I was going to order the sweet Strawberry as it seemed to be recommended but the Raspberry had a great review.

Mango - more curiosity than anything. Like... Really? Ditto Absinthe.

The Bourbon is is TFA, as is the absinthe, cola, graham cracker I think (memory is not good). I got the bourbon to try it in my light tobacco, which could be the extra little thing that I'm looking for.

The cola... Well, bourbon and cola? At work? Sounds naughty. :)

Also got an SR510 DCT coming with this order. Some of these flavours I've been avoiding up till now becasue they are plastic tank killers, and it's about time I tried a cartotank anyway. More DIY - punching cartos.

You do realize that is just crazy......lol. Start low with percents and work your way up....pretty simple

Welcome to the dark side of the forum.

Post here any uncommon, simple, easy, weird, complicated etc. method that u may have for mixing, diluting, creating your own e-liquids. As some of u may notice the "first part" of this thread is gone, so I`m bringing part 2 so we can continue our discussions.

Quick recap.:

1. Don-t use any percentaceg when first mixing liquids
2. Use your nose, smell and mayba taste the mixture. If it smells/tastes good look no more
3. Feel free to try anything in combination with everything. You never know what expect around the corner
4. Be prepared to fail and fail and then fail some more. Don`t get discouraged, you`ll get it, just keep going.
5. Test test test test
6. If u hit the jackpot reverse engineer it, find the percentages and replicate it.
7. Vape at least 5ML then see how it changes, if u still like it then we have a winner

Edit: Used to many "so" in sentences :D

ur all insane...my method is this: premixed base @ the mg u vape, start w/ 1-2 drops per ml of flavor, shake and smell after each flavor added and go from there however do not just "mix anything in combination with everything" - use ur common sense and apply any cooking skills u have ie flavor palate, etc. that's true ghetto jedi mixing - mixing like ur cooking. take only the first part if u want (premixed base) and go nuts w/ % and counting drops, etc but for me since my nose is very good and i used to be a bartender and cook almost everyday this is the best method - i replicate nothing cuz making new mixes is more fun...ok im out here's a link to my thread at nuvapor Super Easy DIY Method and my original thread here (first part w/e) is back up now but i'll be over at nuvapor mostly from now on.

This is a very simple method for those who dont have the time or will to learn about percentages or complicated stuff like exact measurments etc. It`s simpler as that and as long as you dont mix at an industrial scale it will work just fine.

Also, on the first page you will find percentages and ratios explained for those who do want to get into percentages or exact mixing :p

Aaaah! So 20 drops ISN'T a ml!!!!!!! No wonder my juices have been tasting flat!! - EUREKA!! *light bulb turns on*

- I just checked in a syringe & 20 drops is right at .6 ml. Wow.

I did some homework over the weekend as well, used a 1-ml drip syringe and counted the drops of several different concentrates as well as base. I came out between 42-46 drops per ml on everything. So I just set 46 to be the standard since I still like strong flavors it benefits me to make everything on the more liberal side of the measurement. :D

The Ghetto DIY Ninja rides again!

I got a swag of new flavours this week but I've been having trouble finding the time to test them. When I get home I'm just too tired, and truthfully my tastebuds are just about done in from the days vaping in any case.

No worries, the Super Easy DIY method came to the rescue. Today I took the Phoenix atty, the Vamo and a few flavours to work, along with 10ml bottles of nic base, VG, and PG, and a 5ml sample bottle that was freshly cleaned out.

As soon as I had a few minutes to spare, I dropped a 20 drop test into the sample bottle and started tasting just single flavours to find out what they did at various concentrations. I could put most of one test into the Phoenix atty and vape it a while, so it was a pretty good test of the flavours. The super easy method worked really well, and fit in fine with a very busy day at work thanks to the big bottom cup on the Phoenix. No worries about getting distracted and making an unfortunate mistake with the nicotine concentration, because I was only using fairly dilute base as per the Super Easy DIY method.

So, a successful day testing. Even though I've not had much luck so far with fruit flavours I think I've got a couple of recipes that are worth trying out in slightly larger batches: Raspberry Refresher, and Mango Fandango Pie!

LARGE BATCHES

Question for you guys - once you nail down a recipe with the 20 drop test and you want to make a large batch (say 240ml), do the ratios change on you at all?

A buddy of mine has a theory that when the batches get that large, the ratios can change. He gets this idea from food recipes for extremely large batches.

Given how quickly my tastes are changing, I don't think I'd be game to do one batch of 240ml. You'd have to be darn sure it's what you wanted.

The main reason ratios change with really large batches of food is because it can get harder to cook large batches exactly the same as a small one. The heat input is radically different and this will affect the flavour of some ingredients more than others.

If your friend is using any kind of drop measurement for adjunct flavourings in the small batches this is the mostly likely cause for problems - see above posts. Those items that were previously being done with drop measurements really need to be tested individually to find out how many drops to the ml you were previously getting. Different size droppers will affect the drop size as well.

Steeping will be different in larger batches as well, for those juices that need it. A common complaint for some juices is that they don't steep as quickly in a larger batches.

Well, I routinely make batches of 240, 480 and 720ml all the time. :) FYI, I vape about 10-12ml per day, wife vapes about 5-6ml and I sell some to my co-workers.

My friend doesn't DIY, he just had the theory and thought I might need to adjust my ratios. My big batches are almost all DK-Tab and I mix it at 10% flavor no matter how large the batch. Recently though, I've been having some issues with the flavor not being the same that it used to be, but I think PA changed their DK flavor base....kinda makes me angry because I just bought 3 120ml bottles of it! :(
