SK dont you belong to a group on facebook that promotes alot of facebook ecig contests? i know u have won a few facebook related ones. did u quit?

Lol! I thought so, but wasn't sure :p.

If you had read this post, you might understand a little more about how I feel about Facebook...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/490372-suppliers-please-stop-posting-facebook-contests-ecf-2.html#post11242722 (#19)

I used to post a lot of Contests in that group, but didn't enter all of them. I refuse to spam my own page and/or my friends' for a bottle of juice from a vendor I never heard of... :p

Plus a lot of the Contest Apps they are using now want WAY too much info, and I always tell the vendor what I think about it!! I even got banned from a page because I got into an argument with the owner about why contests requiring a purchase are against the law... LOL!!

When I have brought up the same subject to vendors here on the ECF, most of them Thank me for the info, and change their Contest Rules accordingly... :)

It seems that most, but not all, of the ones doing the FB contests here are newer vendors. They don't have the same sense of 'community' that the ones who have been here longer do... and that's really a shame!! (and it's their loss)

Well, the rules appear to be a bit swings and roundabouts. On one hand a contest promoted here is for ECF members only (which may promote extra contests), however they miss out on finding out about the suppliers other general entry contests.

That's what FB and newsletters are for. :)

What is with this "I don't like it, so it must stop!" mentality recently? Where the :censored: are you people getting your sense of entitlement from?

We each have our own preferences, but your rights end where mine begin, and don't tread on me.

A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand, and a kingdom divided against a kingdom will fall.

So, you didn't like it, and it must stop? ;)
What makes you entitled to rant about other peoples preferences? Thankfully, your rights to rant about it ends where other peoples right to share their dislikes start. Are we a kingdom divided, or are we simply having a difference of opinion? Who is this king guy anyway, and why did I not get the memo about how and what to think?

Not intended to be as offensive as it sounds. Just trying to point out the irony.

I really do not care what others do. Enter or don't enter.

I don't use FB much. Since my local computer repair shop makes a steady bread-and-butter profit on PCs brought in w/ viruses, malware, tracking software, and various and sundry things that will slow up your machine from FB, I use that site as little as possible.

(It's kinda easy to figure out what targets malware and virus writers are going to pick.....sites with large user base.....with lots of newbies and non-technical types.)

It was during some rather famous court trials where they were "mining" social data sites when previously you would have been paid to be part of a focus group..... I decided I did not want to be in anybody's "stable" and have really enjoyed my email inbox not being cluttered with unsolicited mail.

@dragonbone:

Anja, you seem to have 'accidentally' cut off the next sentence, but hey, if the shoe fits.....

The next sentence was just as insulting as the one I quoted, as it was based on the first.

. If some old fuddy duddies or paranoid peeps, or privacy challenged people dont want to be on Facebook, then they shouldn't. Or - if they just don't like it for whatever reason and don't want to use it, that is their choice too.

Or - if they (= old fuddy duddies or paranoid peeps, or privacy challenged people) just don't like it....

If you want to insult people for not sharing their life story and all their data with a big huge data-mining company, then that speaks about you. And you alone. Not about those whom you wish to insult with such childish means.

Fulgurant summed up very nicely the infatuation with Facebook, Twitter, Smart phones and considering oneself to be so important to the rest of the world that it seems to be of gigantic importance to share every thought, action, food consumed or whatever with the rest of the world. Many times a day. May I let you in on a secret? Most people do not give a flying fig what you or anybody else had for dinner :D

oh, and:
lol

.............
Back to topic:
I am glad that ECF sweepstakes are for ECF members. period.

To clarify...off site contest links are fine...like in PIF...those are contests posted by members as a heads up for what is out there - entirely different.

An ECF Supplier can not promote or link to a contest via another media, any contest they discuss here must be here for the members.

Suppliers can have all the Facebook contests they want...they just can't promote or link them here.

I guess I am still confused about this...

The links that are posted in the PIF Contest thread are not direct links to an outside Contest, which would belong in the Member's Contest thread, but links to a thread here on the ECF where the vendor has posted an announcement about their Contest... which happens to direct us to Facebook from there.

In otherwords, they are still promoting the FB contest here on the ECF, and we are just forwarding the info... (please don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger!!)

I just love that this thread has sparked all of this dialog... and there are actually 13 members viewing it ATM!! Plus a lot of the people responding are newer members whose names I don't recognize... :)

If the link in the PIF Contest thread goes to a Suppliers Contest thread on ECF it is just fine.

On ECF there is to be no ECF Supplier promoting or linking to a contest that is not on ECF.

Only contests held by members are permitted in Member's Contest Sub Forum...and those contests also must be held here on ECF.
There are to be no contest entries for example...subscribe to my You Tube Channel to enter...not permitted.
Also same with linking to whatever site you have to enter...not permitted.
