Hey,

Sorry about the poor quality pics.

This is as far as it will close.
deck.jpg deck 2.jpg

If I push down on it and close the ring it stays shut. When I rotate the ring it feels a bit "notchy" and has done for ages.

Sometimes when I try to open the ring the deck doesnt move and the ring just spins, other times it opens the deck and I can get to the end of the rotation.

But when closing all it does is spin without closing the deck, so the whole device feels a little wobbly.

I am currently bathing all the parts in some alcohol.

Cheers.

Cheers.

Try this and let us know what happens.

  1. Take the 510 screw out from the bottom assembly
  2. Then try turning the control ring and see if it catches the threads on the deck
  3. You should then be able to turn the control ring clock-wise ring until there's no gap left (like in your picture)
  4. If you can do that ....
  5. Then put the 510 screw back into the bottom assembly
  6. Turn the screw just until you feel it 'stop'
  7. Check that the control ring still turns easily in both directions
  8. If it doesn't loosen the 510 screw just a bit, then try turning the control in both directions again.

I would replace both A8 and B17. The threads mate to each other and if one's damaged, the other most likely is as well.

Kayfun v4 Replacement Parts - EVcigarettes.com

Parts are made by EHpro, one of the better clone makers. A8 is $6.49 and B17 is $8.99

Cheers, I am the Uk, so I'll wait on the parts from China first and see if they sort me out. If not I'll look at these US ones.

Since you're from the UK, maybe try to contact SM again, maybe send it in for them to look at it. Sad to hear about your problems. SM are really nice folks, just talk to them, let them sort you out. I've used an original K4 daily for the last 6 months, a tough workhorse it is. No issues whatsoever. Ok, minor ones..as I like to think now:)

I tried without the screw and still get the same problem. I had a reply from SvoeMesto and they suggested that the threads could be worn on either B17 or A8.

I am not sure if this would be covered under warranty.
To make matters worse I bought it from the Netherlands so a pain to get it sorted.

Cheers
Hi Beard, I have the same issue. I contacted SM, told them the issue, send picture, even send them video. When they ask B17 or A8, tell them both. They will post you both the parts.
This is what I received after 3 - 4 weeks.

Ever since removing the parallel and trying the titanium I'm just often unhappy with the KF4's performance.
Flavour seems muted (though it's possible it's my taste), vapour production often seems down, it sometimes gets a little flooded and gurgly at strange times, and it's just not particularly enjoyable. Almost same ohms at about 0.65 ish, same ID and surface area, same wicking.

Probably something to do with my titanium build, but it seems great except, of course, for the aforementioned performance. Might have to rebuild as of old and see what it's like, and consider replacing o rings if the issues continue.

Ti would be for TC mode, right? Around 0.1 Ohmish?

No TC Q. All mech. I wanted to try titanium because people commented about the great taste, and I'd be able to achieve low resistance, fast ramp up, and good surface area with a single 28g coil
Hmm. Then how could you achieve 0.65 Ohms? How many wraps - over what OD?

Titanium 1 28g (might technically be 0.34mm but I'm not going to worry about a 0.019mm difference) 9 wraps 3mm.
Q, titanium has much higher resistance than nickel. One of my current ti builds is 0.42ohm using 28g ti1, 6 wraps on 2.4mm diameter.
^ Hmm, didn't know that
