I haven't tried ti on a mech because the resistance does go up when its heated, which is why tc works with ni and ti, but not yet with kanthal. However, if you don't mind your vape changing, my understanding is it will work on a mech.

Ti on a mech is going to perform terribly. A .5ohm coil will be over 1 ohm after a 3-4 second draw. You'll go from 30ish watts down to 15 by the end of your hit....or is that what you're looking for?
That's an extremely loaded and dangerous question to ask anywhere on this forum...I have a KF4 by ehpro, like it a lot. Has it's little issues. Wondering if the authentic is a better by a large amount, or just a small increment?
Thanks
Since you're from the UK, maybe try to contact SM again, maybe send it in for them to look at it. Sad to hear about your problems. SM are really nice folks, just talk to them, let them sort you out. I've used an original K4 daily for the last 6 months, a tough workhorse it is. No issues whatsoever. Ok, minor ones..as I like to think now

Calculate your wire length via the SteamTurners Calculator.I'm using 26g kanthal 5 wraps and I got .65 ohms... I'm trying to get .5 ohms but what's the best way to do that? .65 is too high for me and I'm using a poldiac...

Mine is kind of weepy at times, bit of rust showed up on logo, 510 pin likes to loosen, threads could be better, juice flow seems finicky at times. Little niggles that can add up to annoying. What issues are you having Off cigs?
Wouldn't 24g be best? I don't want to lose wrapsCalculate your wire length via the SteamTurners Calculator.
I have 2 Tobeco KF4's that are perfect. A lot of members have said the same thing. I bought a third one for only $10 bucks from VaporRange.Mine is kind of weepy at times, bit of rust showed up on logo, 510 pin likes to loosen, threads could be better, juice flow seems finicky at times. Unless you want a slow ramp up due to lung hits, don't bother with 24g. Personally I find 26g to be too slow for me. For some reason it always gunks up far more than 28g for me; I really object to dry burning when the wick is still totally fine, but the coil is so caked that the vape drops off within a single tank.I'm using 26g kanthal 5 wraps and I got .65 ohms... Great idea... I was reading about the parallel coil... is there a picture of your method?Unless you want a slow ramp up due to lung hits, don't bother with 24g. Try a 28g 3mm 4 wrap parallel (obviously 8 total wraps) for about 0.5ohms. I use a 5 wrap for about 0.065 and it's superb!
Just fold your normal 15 ish cm piece of 28g in half, straighten out if needed so that the pieces don't have a tendency to overlap when winding, and wrap 4 times. You'll probably need to pull on the ends to make them taut more than a single coil, but it's easy enough once you've done a couple. Use both post screws on each side for better grip and cut the loop that connects the 2 separate coils at one end only once they are securely held. Be careful when squeezing after heating so that you don't make the coils overlap too much.
I'll actually put a new parallel on last night, but I'll take a few pics of the process up to mounting the coil and post those up later tonight. Hopefully it will help. At the moment I'm unfortunately unwilling to remove the coil I have in there, as they're very difficult (at least for me) to remount as opposed to a single coil, and it's probably the best I've done so far.

So far this is what I've done but the flavor seems mute vs single coil

I will give yours a shot when my coil gets too darkThat dual coil looks really good! Never tried one so I cant really comment. All I could think if the flavour is lacking, is that the centre of the wick over the airflow may not be getting heated up as much as that inside the coil, and drawing on the KF gives you this lower temp vape diluting it.
