I will buy the authentic before I buy a clone. One of each. I want to show support to the original designer, which reminds me, does anyone know anything about ubertoots? I want an authentic, I have a clone. Then I'm gonna try out the gem, has anyone tried that yet, I ordered a clone from fasteck so should get it by February.

In my opinion - If less people bought clones, more people would buy 'authentics'. Higher production numbers would be required of the 'authentics' which would decrease the amount of R&D and lost intellectual property incorporated into the cost structure and price point of the authentic.

A higher production volume, usually equates to a lower cost per unit in manufacturing and most certainly packaging.

I have probably just alienated myself here, but the concept of clones bugs me. I am astounded that clones even have dedicated discussion threads on this great forum.

I don't have a lot of money but I won't ever buy stolen goods. The only way to slow or stop this crime is to stop supporting it and stop this mainstream acceptance of cloning as a normal and acceptable alternative.

I typically like to buy authentic stuff but it goes both ways. I would like stuff to be available for purchase at the time I want to buy it. Some companies simply won't or can't make enough to meet demand and you end up with a situation where it simply isn't available or very hard to get.

I remember a while back trying to get a hold of an authentic kayfun lite. Couldn't find it anywhere. Everyone out of stock, all the time. I wasn't about to play the sit and wait game of them to come in stock only to find out they would sell out within minutes. I ended up buying a clone that was easy to get a hold of from just about anywhere.

In 2012 when it was launched I purchased my first Kayfun, the 3.1ES. Liked it so much that I bought one more. Counterfeits were not yet introduced into the vaping circle. 2013 saw the introduction of its shorter variant, the Kayfun-LITE. I purchased one again on its launch. And ended up buying further 6 of the KFLs down the road. Counterfeits started surfacing ~ but it never crossed my mind to get one.

Last year followed the pattern again - purchased the Kayfun4 on launch. And then stopped at it. Eleven Kayfuns till now ~ all proudly genuine! And all of them gathering dust unfortunately. But a proud possession nonetheless, b'coz they completely changed the vaping scene. Everything thereafter was just a variant of the Kayfuns. They were the 'real' game changers!

O' yes, bought two clones too down the line - The Russian and the Russian 91%, straight from KEBOtech. But never a counterfeit.

I haven't been around here much of late, but just wanted to say that it's because the Kyfun V4 design has basically closed the endless hunt for me.

That and titanium wire on an 18650 Mod with Temp Control, like say a 50W KangXin VF Mini, though 25 watts has been more than enough.

On the juice front it's been all-VG lightly flavored, home-made using no more than 10% FlavourArt flavoring. A few drops of 151 Rum per 10 ml will thin it and make it wick perfectly.

Took me a while to taper down but I'm happier without the nicotine, not that nicotine's evil, but because I get cold hands & feet (Raynaud's syndrome) from it.

Nothing is perfect, juice will always seep a bit, but the V4 is good enough. Haven't seen anything that significantly improves on it. I still like playing with coils and RDAs of various types.

If there's a Kayfun V5, and a V6, I'd love to see 'em ;-)

I have to look twice to make sure I'm on the right thread. It does say SvoeMesto Kayfun 4 correct? I won't buy a clone to save money and I'm not against saving money. Clone makers and sellers of clones are thieves in my book. They make a living on companies who do all the R&D and design and produce a product of high quality using high quality material.

For those who purchase clones, they should thank those who purchase authentics.

I own Achilles clones (an RDA). They are titanium drippers and an outstanding dripper. I bought the clones only because the authentics were no longer available with no plans to make more. Some guy out of Ukraine who made them more as a hobby than a money making venture. I also understand those who tried to get authentics but always found them out of stock. It happens. I also bought a clone Plume Veil once (since gave it away as a PIF). I would never have bought an authentic Plume Veil. Just wasn't enough interest. But I spent $20 on a clone as a throw in while I was ordering other stuff. It was an afterthought more than a serious shopping event knowing I likely would not use it much (and I didn't). I can also appreciate those who bought an authentic and then subsequently purchased clones simply because it was all they could afford. As a blanket statement, I'm not against clones. But I also think patronizing the authentic makers should be a priority when possible.

That said, I am watching this clone discussion closely and as long as it stays civil I'm OK with it. If it starts getting ugly like it almost always does then I'm gonna have a mod shut it down. I get sick and tired of the clone/authentic wars getting out of hand. It's possible to state your feelings without infringing on other's beliefs. Sadly, that doesn't happen often in these discussions.

I am jealous of your power.
You can do the same thing as me. I've been down this road too many times to count. I get sick and tired of threads being hijacked by people who want to battle over the same topic over and over and over with no end or no solution. So do the mods and they are more than happy to clean up the mess. I was a mod at one time myself and didn't put up with it either. It gets old. I made a thread for those who want to fight about clones vs authentics if you're interested.

Bad idea. In which case much useful information also gets lost. It is wiser to request a mod to admonish the irritant members and 'delete' the unnecessary vociferous posts - but let the thread continue.

Q, I meant what you said. I'm gonna have the irritants shut down. Not the thread. You kno me better than that.

Having my Clone thread re-opened shortly. Threads get closed if inactive for three months.

A Mark Bugs GEM will change your mind about that!
I promise you!

You'll thoroughly enjoy the GEM!
True - unless it leaks! Which it does sometimes as though it's been shot a few hundred times!

Finicky but when you get it right, oh boy! Nothing comes close!

That's kinda how the Gennies were when they swept the vape world. Excellent flavor but very finicky.
