I just like vendors that provide really good products, prices and service and think that a good find should be shared. But the next time I find something good, I'll be happy to keep it to myself, if you prefer.

glad youre sharing good finds, once, twice, half dozen times...but 28 mentions seems excessive and makes me wonder if youre affiliated with the vendor and are an unregistered supplier.

Hi Magicmyst, when you increase the amount of wick in the well, do you stuff the wick in? Won't this block off the juice flow?

NO! NEVER STUFF! Gently tuck just enough to touch the bottom.

You know what Magicmyst? You're a life saver! I put the same amount of cotton in the coil but this time, I lengthened the tail and tuck them in a curve. And it worked!

Seems like there was not enough wick to soak up the liquid to feed to the coils and there I was thinking I overstuffed the coil causing it to be choked. This is very counterintuitive coming from a kayfun lite plus.

Thanks again!

Glad you're making progress! In my experience, wicking these K5 (and the KMV3) can be tricky. Too much wick in the well and you get a bottleneck and less flavor, too little and you get leaking and...well, you know...

I shared multiple times about this vendor because so many in various threads were complaining about lack of availability when in fact, they were available at this vendor. Not affiliated and not a supplier, so don't get your knickers in a bunch.

Newbie post: Just did my second (ever) build this morning, and the K5 is hitting much better now. My first build was 24g Kanthal w/ 9 wraps @ 3mm (.9Ω), which worked decent but took forever to ramp up to temp. This new build is still 24g Kanthal, but w/ 5 warps @ 2.5mm (.41Ω), and the ramp up time (at the lower wattage I use) is much better. It still takes about 1.5 seconds to ramp up, but for me that works, and it keeps the temp of the vapor a bit cooler (at the lower wattage).

The other thing I did was to remove the outer layers of the organic cotton pad before wicking the coil (saw it done on YouTube), and the flavor appears to be a bit more pure. The nic delivery on the K5 is much stronger that it is on my Nautilus coils, which I'm sure is probably true of all RTAs (but this is my first), so I'm going to either have to reduce the nic in the mix or hit it much less often. With the air flow wide open, I'm able to get slightly restricted DL hits with great flavor and vapor production.

I've got some 28g & 30g Kanthal and Nichrome coming in the mail this week to try some other builds (like a twisted coil), and so far I'm really liking the rebuild-able lifestyle. Yesterday, my 521 tab and magnifying lamp arrived, so I don't have to strain my eyes doing builds, which is always a plus. I'll probably pick up a KFM v3 at some point in the near future, and maybe a KFL+, since their product quality is so outstanding.

How far down the rabbit hole will I go? (we'll just have to wait and see) :D

Been vaping for 5 years but still forgot the fundamentals of building a microcoil. Squeezing them together. Stroking them alone is not enough.

Figured this when I realized it's always 1 side that is hotter than the other. Even though stroking the coils make them seem to glow evenly, I think squeezing them together makes sure that it's even heating when juice is added.

Yep. I used to torch them, but read that it's not a good idea, so now I just pulse fire and squeeze. ( :) That sound naughty, doesn't it?)
