I smoked 2 analog on 1st day vaping,1 analog on 2nd day vaping and not even a drag until the 3rd week vaping where i tried to take 1 or 2 puffs from one of my analog friend. And that day i considered 1 of the bad day of my life. It felt yucky in my mouth and ive promised to myself to not even tried analog again! How glad i am to those who invented PV :vapor:

the day i started to vap was also the last time i touched a analog, it was very easy for me but i know other people have had a bit of hard time making the switch.

100% the same as me, I was a 30 a day smoker, tried so many times to stop, couldn't go 2 hours before I started again.
I picked up my kit at 2pm, so 1:45pm was my last smoke, and that was over 4 months back.

68 years old, smoked for 50 years. Almost two packs a day for the past 30 years. Whew..I know, I know. Thankfully, I never have had any health problems (that I know of!)

I've actually never wanted to quit. I've always enjoyed smoking. Didn't like the mess and smell of my habit, but did like smoking.

In all those years, I stopped three times, just for the heck of seeing if I could. Stopped cold turkey each of those times. Handled those first few days' cravings by taking a cheap BIC pen apart, cutting it to the length of a 100, and acting as if it were a cigarette. Sucking on that white BIC shell and going through the motions of "inhaling/exhaling" took care of the craving incredibly well. Amazing what the mind can do.

Each time, after anywhere from 3 - 6 months of not smoking, I'd simply decide to start again. Yeah, dumb to do that, but that's what I did. Maybe it's a control issue with me... "I chose to stop for no particular reason. I now choose to start again for no particular reason." Actually, I suppose nicotine had more hold on me than I realized, even though I thought all the craving was gone.

In the fall of 2012, I decided to stop again, but this time I decided it would be... no more ever again. Just too darn messy, stinky, expensive, and...it couldn't be good for me to keep smoking, no matter how good my current health was/is. I already knew I could quit cold turkey. But I also knew how much I've always liked the physical act of smoking. So....

I started researching e-cigs. I wanted to find the most popular e-cigarette forum to read what veteran e-cig users recommended for a beginner. I didn't care whether the device looked like a cigarette. I just wanted a long lasting, well made e-cig that was fairly easy to work with and would put out a ton of vapor.

With the help of the amazing amount of information on this forum, I got myself some Ego Twists, clearomizers; a Provari, IBTanked tanks, cartomizers; a variety of delicious AIV e-juices (11 or 12 mg nicotine level), pretty drip tips, a "slap yo mama" tool... quite a hobby this is turning into.

Seeing vapor (wow!) sure beats "pretend exhaling" with a cut-off BIC pen, hands down. Receiving nicotine ensures that I'll never be tempted to light up an analog cig again. Ever. I'll be happily vaping for the remainder of my life.

I transitioned slowly, for about 2.5 weeks, but that had more to do with waiting on cartridges to arrive after I went through the ones that came with my kit than anything else. If I'd bought extra cartridges with my kit, I probably would have quit when I ran out of cigs and been perfectly fine. I think I had maybe two days of difficulty with 3-4 total cravings, and that was it. They went away as soon as I started vaping. I had a hard time figuring out how often to vape, nic levels, etc., so if I'd started at a higher nic level, I probably would have only had one craving (I had one, on day one or two, that was worse than the others, so I think even with higher nic I would have had that one craving). Did that make sense lol? I'm sleep deprived, so I apologize if I made that more complicated than it needed to be.

The hardest part is getting used to them. They're not like smoking but you get as much nicotine or more if you want too. Just stick with it until you get used to it and ask anyone on the forum for tips or answers to any problems you might have. We all started at one time or another and have been through it. It's a lot easier than just quitting. My doc. sure is happy I did. Good Luck.

Yea i know. I've tried Blu before along with a few disposables (Blu & EON..i think)...they were all the same:
"hey this isnt bad i can do this"
(5 pulls later)
":glare:....this is ... where are my Marlboro smooths"

But I know in order to give this a real shot im gonna have to experiment for awhile so im starting with Halo, and yes I will have plenty of questions thats why I joined I havent even began and I love this forum lol. btw I picked up a V2 menthol disposable this morning (pure curiosity) Cant wait to get home to my kit though

I did a little of both. Had one pack left. Did both for a couple of days, then when I finished that pack, never smoked another cigarette again. One thing I've noticed, everyone I know who got tobacco flavors kept smoking. Everyone who got just anything besides tobacco transitioned over. Granted, that's a limited group of about 20, but it's held true for all.

Very interesting about the tobacco flavored juices.

When I started vaping, I finished the half pack I had in the house while transitioning and then knew I was done with cigarettes. 90% of my flavors are not tobacco.

I cold-turkeyed off a 30+ year 1 - 1.5 PAD habit.

My experience was pretty much the same as that of the OP. I also kept a few coffin nails around the house so I'd have the choice.
Coming up on a year since I've had a cigarette. Some very obvious health and financial benefits noted ;)

I really enjoy vaping and I'm always looking for things to try, but I find I'm vaping less and less as time goes on. Forgot my main PV at home the other day and went to work with four drops of 24 mg juice dripped in a 510 atomiser.

Wasn't a great hardship although I admit that atty was getting pretty dry by the end of the day, lol.

Most of my favourite e-juice is of the thick, dark, "tobacco-y" sort, btw.

Best regards to all,
BG

I was a 3 PAD smoker, and 4 years ago I went cold-turkey with an enormous amount of willpower and the consumption of a lot of NRT (patches, gum, lozenges etc). 4 years on, I was still using NRT, the cost of which was getting prohibitive, so about Christmas I gave vaping a try. That worked! and my pocket has benefitted greatly - I now spend about £20/month on juice (which I know I could reduce by shopping around, and going DIY)

I could have gone cold turkey, but smoked sparingly for the first 4 days. 4 the first day, 3 the 2nd, 4 the 3rd, and 2 on the and last day (didn't even finish those). I didn't crave the ones I smoked, and none of them tasted good, but I wanted to train myself to associate the actual ACT OF SMOKING with not having fun at all. So I smoked when I cleaned the litter box, or taking out the trash. All the times I had previously enjoyed smoking (after a meal, during breaks at work, etc.) I would vape. The ecig immediately took care of the physical side of my quit, but those 4 days broke the mental habit for me.

I'm a month in and still have yet to actually crave a cigarette. I started at 18mg nic and am now on 12mg with 8 at night. My next order will be for 6 mg juice and we'll see if I can get to 0.
