It differs for every person. Some quit right away, while others taper off. Either way is OK. I quit right away and didn't have a problem after 40+ years smoking. I tried in vein all the other methods, gum, patches, "quit smoking drugs", but the only successful method I tried was vaping.

Don't be discouraged if you can't quit right off, I know you can do it!

So cal
After seeing a few of my long term smoker friends with the e cigs and really noticing how there was now smell made me start to think about switching. Then, on one of the normal routines of buying a carton, my smoke shop ran out of my brand. I was at the start of a cold. with knowing the throat pain smoking while sick i asked them if they had any e cigs for me to try out.

He handed me an eon smoke kit, and for less then $20 I walked out the door with a hope for a new life. I tried it for a day and half then went back and asked how long the refills should last (origional one still) much are the refills. Bout $10 for a 5 pack and the first one has already lasted over a day. From a pack a day smoker at 5.50 here to a $2 carto that was still going I was stoked. Then my friend told me about refilling them and I couldn't believe it.

After 2 days of vaping and not touching an analog I handed my half empty and full pack to my wife... It's been almost 3 months since then and I have no desire to go back. Truth be told, smelling an analog makes me feel sick to my stomach. I feel like such a hypocrite considering the past 15 years I was in that crowd. I just try and use that as my drive to stay off them.

I just need to find a "better" device now because when there is "those" days at work or home, I need a little more then my little eons can deliver. Hence why I am on the form.

When I got my first eGO kit I maybe still had 1 or two cigarettes a day, that was mostly due to being new and getting frustrated when it wasn't performing how I wanted, so I would go back to the quick and dirty analog way. After I found a juice I liked and figured out how to use my kits properly I haven't picked up an analog since. If I had found my sweet spot starting out I'm sure I wouldn't have fallen off the bandwagon, but being a new vaper you have to experiment with what is going to work best for you.

Cold turkey, I am on Day 7. Had a sore throat first three days but am feeling fine now. Never felt better really. I am really excited to have found/become part of this community online. I think vapes are such a positive thing to get into. Less than a month vaping and have already started getting family smokers to quite.

Does anyone else find this is a problem? I started vaping RY4 and Clove juice with an old 901 from china before it was a "thing" here in the states and quit cigarettes successfully on it for 6 months until I lost my 901. I went back to "analogs"... (is this the right word for tobacco cigs? I'm still new to the group.)

Now I'm looking to quit again and upgrade, the lady in me really wants a slim style or 510 but I think moving up to a clearomizer(?) with Ego-type battery is a better choice as it is farther away from the look and feel of cigarettes and battery life is longer, Juice refill is slower. I just can't picture vaping "grape" or something like this all day.

I started vaping in October 2009 with an 808D-1 (Vapor4Life) and I never picked up another cigarette. (Former 1.5 PAD smoker for 37+ years.) Initially I did use tobacco flavors at a 36mg nic level and I quickly discovered that I preferred coffee, fruit and bakery-type flavors. This is pretty common because many people realize that they never really *liked* the taste of tobacco in the first place.

Nowadays I use the Ego Twist and 12-18mg juice. I see a lot of newbies angst over their nic levels and I think they should vape at whatever level keeps them off tobacco; focus on staying off the cigs, not lowering the nic level. Lowering nic levels too quickly is not necessarily a great idea.

By the way, you may find yourself vaping "grape" all day long and loving it! You never know.

It's good, but I keep thinking it good get better, so I have an eGo on the way to me in the mail. I'm down to just over a pack a day atm. I had no idea where to start with e-juice nicotine content, so I started with the 12mg, then went to 18mg, and today I got my first bottle of 24mg. The 24mg seems much more satisfying to me, and so far today I have only smoked 3 cigarettes since I juiced up the first cartomizer with it and started vaping.

I started at 36mg and stayed there for nearly a year because that's what I needed to stay off the analogs. Don't stress over the nic level - get the nicotine you need so you can focus on vaping instead of smoking. It works.

When my ecig came in the mail I opened, stared vapeing. After 25 years of smoking, I was DONE!! Like Emily I got curious about a week later I found an analog cig in my truck. Nasty, nasty, nasty. I had started tobacco flavors until some vapers from work turned me on to the varitable cornucopia of other flavors out there. Now I would never think of going back to analog cigarettes.

I went cold turkey one month ago. The day my pro smoke cigalike came in i was done. Over 2 packs a day for 13 or so years. Done. Its quite an accomplishment and im pretty darn proud of myself. Although within a few days i knew a cigalike was not going to cut it for me. Got my itaste vv and havent looked back. This online community of fellow vapers helped me so much. So thank you all. And now im steeping hhv aiv and gawr. My plan is to gain all the vaping knowledge i can and cut out the learning curve for my mom and make her transition as smooth as possible. GO VAPERS. lol. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

I know 3 people personally who have quit cold turkey without looking back by vaping! It is why I ordered my ecig starter kit today and can't wait until it arrives. I am finding vaping is a whole other world with a language all its own, but I am slowly learning. I just hope that the kit I chose (eGo-C Upgrade 1000mAh Pink Starter Kit) I will be happy with. I bought about 6 sample flavors and only one a tobacco flavor.

Accidental cold turkey. I started vaping just to see what it tasted like and realized only after that I hadn't needed a cigarette.....so I made the conscious decision to switch after the switch had occured I guess. Feeling perfectly fine now, 25 or so days in.... i have a day ticker on a french forum, as is the custom there, and without it I never remember how many days have elapsed, it so doesn't feel like "quitting" smoking or leaving something behind or anything scary or sad like that..... it feels better, tastes better, it's just great and unscary ^^
