I always shied away after a bad leaking experience on an old ehpro Revel back in the day and then was vaguely amused when I saw those discussions about wicking exactly right, no more, no less or it leaks like a sieve.....LOL :D

I'm probably ready to give it another go.

By the way, forgot to say in my last post that i've seen advice saying to ignore the juice channels on the insider but can't remember the rest of....it involved the use of a washer to prevent the side wells from turning to far into the chimney. I'll see if I can find it...it was on my BB group on FB i think.
A lot of the newer RTAs have come a long way in regards to leaking/flooding.

That would be good, to see an anternative wicking method, thanks.

I'm hitting the hay now but will find it in the morning....good night from France.

Not much being mentioned here about the included Kanger rba head. Though I probably use the Insider more I find the Kanger rba does well also. The wicking is easier to get right the first time on the Kanger head but requires a coil with less wraps than can be put in the insider.
My gifted Bantam has left China a couple of days ago. While I have not seen one yet I suspect the key is a little bit longer on the Bantam than the BB.

You'll love it...if n+ot can I have first shout on your kit :D

I've got my third one coming and tbh I can't get away from the vapeshell because it's such a good flavour. I have the insider, MF bridge, A-tank, exocet and they are still waiting for testing as I love the vapeshell so much...i'm going to bite the bullet soon and get some other bridges going in my other BB's so at least I can try them...i'm a bit scared that the vapeshell is the pinnacle :)

I wonder how long before you put a second on your wishlist
Haha, yeah i'll make sure your the first to know if i don't like it haha.
I already have another on my wishlist, just waiting to make sure i like it before grabbing the other one. From the time i first started looking at these mods,i have really liked the bronze colored one,but everybody i could find is sold out,and it seems that color has been discontinued.Well,i found 1 place that says they still have a few of that color in stock in the 70 watt version,so that may well be my 2nd one, hopefully they are correct about having it in stock, otherwise i may just have to shell out the money to get an authentic in Dober, that is the color i like the most on these.

That's what I do. I don't go into the juice channels...just rest the cotton on it, and it wicks beautifully. When I do the tails and go into the channels it struggles to wick. Just rewicked it now as I feel like a NET.
2.5mm coil works well as it don't has as much cotton to deal with.

Incidentally this flat wire SS coil works wonderfully in the Insider. Not as much airflow as I would like ideally, but the flavor from it is on par with the EUC coil. Speaking of, this latest EUC one stays on the verge of flooding. Gets better when I use it continuously for a while, but every time I pick it up, the first few puffs is on the verge...
Yeah sometimes I like the Insider more, and other times I like the EUC more.
Either way its a lovely problem to have :D:D

I decided to load the Vapeshell again....to see what the fuss is about :p. It was ok when I used it a while ago, but found the Insider better. Seeing that i'm addicted to flat wire now, I put in a 0.5ohm Kanthal one. I decided to take out the big insert I had in there. I want max airflow, so in theory it made sense to remove it...
20190609_195136.jpg

...well that didn't really work out as I figured.
The airflow is weird...distorted and not flowing properly. Now I have to remove the damn coil again to get the insert back in again...
Ah well, as much as i dread building, dry burning and fiddling with RBA and RTAs lately, somehow I still get a kick out of playing with the BB :D

B.M. Try this link...choice of black or gold/nugget in the dna60.

SXK Billet Box V4 DNA60 Vape Full kits-$109 and Freeshipping|legendgadget

They're a really good supplier originally suggested by @BillW50 and the price is good although I think the FT option saves you another few € since they dropped the price....good luck.

Have a look at the text and the media here...

I couldn't load the video probably because it's from a closed group. But it shows the wicks being cut really short and level with the chimney housing/width of deck.

''Try to mount the coil placing the Insider with the posts looking at you and place the coil so that is half on the air flux. I use it quite high on the deck, a pair of millimeters. Pay attention in wicking that is the most important part: cut the cotton using the upper bell as measure and avoid to stuck it in the screwed part when you mount it''

  • I have to rebuild it because I used it a lot but this is my build made with 5 wraps of Ni80 Nembo Wire 24awg on point 2.5mm usually used at 24 watts
Hope this helps...and I hope the video loads also :)

I don't know why you're having problems. I use the vapeshell with no inserts and it's lovely. I cut the wicks level with each side of the deck and gently tuck (don't try and poke through the juice holes) The coil goes as low as you can and directly over the air intake.

EDIT. Each side of the deck means follow the right angle on the corner of each side so that you cut the wick into a sort of point.

Hope this makes sense :)

Sorry it's not mentioned but it is decent...the Kanger was the first BB RBA that I tried. Good flavour and works well when you use the old wicking method..... So mounting the uncut wick with the barrel on and cutting the wick level with the top of the barrel :)

For me the BB hasn't put a foot wrong.....touch wood :)

Nah the problem isn't with the wicking...that is a breeze on it.
Its because its a 2.5mm coil and its flat wire. The air opening (without the insert in) is wider (see pic) than the outside of the coil. That makes the air turbulent because the air has to much space to flow past the sides of the coil. Will try a 3.0mm coil later. Don't feel like dumping juice etc right now...

Yep, you've probably hit the nail on the head there as first thought when I looked was that the coil was a bit long and close wrapped so you're not getting much airflow actually running through the coil....maybe try spacing it a bit when you try the 3mm.

Please explain (without the insert in), what insert?

I could with round, but with the flat wire i'm crammed for space in there. That's why I went with a contact coil. I can go less wraps and space, but the resistance will be way to low then. I aim for 0.5ohm.

The Vapeshell comes with different sizes inserts that fits into the airhole for less or more air. I completely removed it to let more air through.
Well that explains my confusion, I thought you were posting about the Insider. I do see where they make one with a smaller air outlet (Insider) but it appears to be permanent for MTL Insider. My Insider is styled, I thought maybe I was missing something.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Yep agreed....maybe try the Ni80 wire I suggested to you recently...seriously good flavour.

I think what you're probably finding out here is that you can't use ribbon wire in the vapeshell. Any other gauges available?
