IMO if Provape would build a device around this chip they would really have a winner and so would we. As far as build quality and service Provape again IMO can't be beat but they are falling behind. Right now according to my friend that works there they are more concerned with the idiotic legislation they are trying to jam through in this state. I know that they like to come up with their own stuff but they are falling behind and I know they could make a great device based on this chip.
I couldn't agree more!
Provape is a great company with customer service/support second to none, but at the end of the day (as I said before) they have a device & technology that's targeted at main stream users who want more than cigalikes offer. They have a loyal following because they earned it by focusing on safety, reliability, build quality and durability. It was a very deliberate design decision to stick with 20W and not visit TC in the current version of the P3.
While I'm sure there are noobs buying the SX, and some finding success, it's for a different audience. Perhaps with all the attention this device is getting, Provari will revisit their strategy and make a device for more sophisticated users. I doubt they would use any controller that wasn't designed in-house, as doing so would go against their whole philosophy based on Provari controlling every aspect of the device. If and when they decide to revisit their strategy and target the "pro-sumer" audience, and if they can deliver at a competitive price point, I'll probably be among the first to sign up.
I'd still recommend a P3 or a Classic to anyone looking for a first mod, or as an alternative to cigalikes to anyone getting started, or for anyone that doesn't have the desire/need, patience and aptitude- consider that most people don't want to think about ohms law when they light up a cigarette- they just want to light their cigarette.
