IMO if Provape would build a device around this chip they would really have a winner and so would we. As far as build quality and service Provape again IMO can't be beat but they are falling behind. Right now according to my friend that works there they are more concerned with the idiotic legislation they are trying to jam through in this state. I know that they like to come up with their own stuff but they are falling behind and I know they could make a great device based on this chip.

I couldn't agree more!

Provape is a great company with customer service/support second to none, but at the end of the day (as I said before) they have a device & technology that's targeted at main stream users who want more than cigalikes offer. They have a loyal following because they earned it by focusing on safety, reliability, build quality and durability. It was a very deliberate design decision to stick with 20W and not visit TC in the current version of the P3.

While I'm sure there are noobs buying the SX, and some finding success, it's for a different audience. Perhaps with all the attention this device is getting, Provari will revisit their strategy and make a device for more sophisticated users. I doubt they would use any controller that wasn't designed in-house, as doing so would go against their whole philosophy based on Provari controlling every aspect of the device. If and when they decide to revisit their strategy and target the "pro-sumer" audience, and if they can deliver at a competitive price point, I'll probably be among the first to sign up.

I'd still recommend a P3 or a Classic to anyone looking for a first mod, or as an alternative to cigalikes to anyone getting started, or for anyone that doesn't have the desire/need, patience and aptitude- consider that most people don't want to think about ohms law when they light up a cigarette- they just want to light their cigarette.

Dang man I feel for you. Definitely noticeable and I agree with you. For this price range you should expect better. That's not something that should make it out of QC. Guessing the diameter of the screws is just slightly smaller than the post holes in the circuit board to allow for that amount of skew.
Ya...bit dissapointing. Half of me just wants to say screw it, because its nothing that affects anything and the device is awesome. The other half is like, screw this you paid $200 for something that should have been looked at better. I will await on Varitube's response and see what my options are....will keep anyone updated if they want.

I get solid results from twisted 28 in my Lemo 2. 3.5 mm ID, 7 wraps, .072 (I think....07x, I can't remember and I'm at work.) Great flavor. I have yet to pull off a non-twisted build that I really like. Granted, I only have 28 and 30 gauge.
Thanks for takin your time out at work to reply. :) I'll try the twisted 28 on 3.5 and see what happens. Did you use the post holes or wrap the screw heads?

Also don't get me wrong I love the SX but I'm wondering what it will look like in a year. My Provari's still look like new.

That is definitely OFF! I'd be pretty bummed too if mine looked like that.
Nothing to do with screw holes. LOL. The display is attached to the same board as the USB port and it would not fit through the frame if that was so. They simply attached the display to the board crooked and it should never have made it into a unit.

Just an update on my paint situation- I sent some email off to yihi after my local B&M said yihi wouldn't replace it even though the paint was coming off with my finger nails. it took several days to get a reply but they asked for my serial number and where I bought it and they asked me to supply some pictures ... I gave them that information and 24 hours later they sent a note saying to bring the device back to where I bought it, and it would be replaced. Not sure I'm going to bother because it's inevitably going to get scuffed up over time, but its a good sign that they are offering to stand behind the product.

Yes, my screen is slightly askew as well. Not as bad as some, it would seem, and not enough to make me worry too much about it. But I understand the thought of wanting to get it resolved if it does bother you.

Anyone else have the resistance lock issue going on? I swear every time I do the resistance lock, I wait for the screen to disappear and then when I hit the fire button it comes back. Not a huge deal, but does get annoying as hell.

I think Pbusardo mentioned that as well in his video. And I've only had it happen maybe once or twice. Not sure what causes it if it's hitting the fire button to soon after setting resistance or just a bug. I have't really tried reproducing it since it's happened to me so infrequently.

Is it possible to put a sticky at the top of this massive thread with an updateable list of known/confirmed firmware bugs etc? It would be a good point of reference for yihi for example
when considering the content of future firmware updates...

Mine pretty much does it every time I do the set, whether I try and vape as soon as the screen disappears, or wait...and wait...and wait. Like I said though, not a huge deal, just annoying at times when I find myself forgetting and hit the button expecting yummy vapes to happen.

Sorry to interrupt. Just wanted to share with you this, since all you guys have helped me to make this decision.
Got it past Friday and, since then, Feeling happier than dog with two tails.
image.jpg

My first mod ever, coming from a Provari P3, so never went above 20w or below .8 ohms. As you can imagine, this is a whole new game for me. This is what I've experienced so far:
*my first ever ni200 build is a 26ga, 7wraps, 3mm at .09ohms in one of my two new Lemo 2. Temp seems to hover around 280F. Following tips I've read here, set it a 290F and found a great vape at 25J.
*juice is going fast. Not a big deal cause I'm a DIY'er (not really sure that's English, apologize if not). And, oh my!!!, I'm tasting the flavors like never before. Guess I'll have to bring down the nic from 6ml to 3ml to avoid the throat hit. Will give another try to all the recipes that were flavorless or muted.
* the two new VCT4 are giving me 21.5k to 22k Joules, which seems to be an acceptable range according other posts.

@PapaPro; I'm almost giving up with my KV4 too, it's my favorite RTA but not luck with TC so far. Waiting for a better spring to arrive. Used to think I will never quit tobacco, tried many methods and a lot of money without success. Smoke free for a year now, just don't give up.
@everybody; really happy I found this place and all of you. Sadly, my wife hates you and this place. I told her you MADE ME buy this. Sorry, was the first excuse I could think of.
Once again, THANKS A LOT for the help and incredible info posted. Keep it up.

Glad you are enjoying the setup. Man, I see another $200 going out the window as soon as I can find me one of those sexy black face units! Love that combo.

yes, it happens each time I do it. I wait for at least 10 seconds after the screen goes out before I hit the fire button, if I don't the resistance lock comes back on.

My screen stays on for over 1 minute after I hit the fire button to take a vape. Is there anyway to lesson the time? I notice when I was watching youtube video reviews, the reviewer would have to keep hitting the button to keep the screen on. I'm sure it's draining my battery quicker than I would like.
