Anyone have a problem with their SX Mini crashing and/or freezing when they try to put it in "link" mode?

Mine is doing this, which is preventing me from updating...
Check out these links posted by Vlad earlier today...
Are you saying the.063Ω will still not fire on the two devices you updated even after reverting to ver 1.4?

Also are you resetting the device after the update? And then Syncing the resistance? I see you said you were syncing just making sure you doing it after reset.

Couple links with some helpful info if you haven't read them yet.

Are you sure it is crashing?
I start the SXinstall program
I then plug my SX into the USB port my computer says unrecognized device (Windows 8.1)
Then I select link and turn it on the computer beep like a new USB device had been added and the screen goes black
Then I go to the SXinstall App and select connect - it connects
Then I go to the SXinstall App and select upgrade find the file you want to use and click do-it.
Then I sit and watch the green bar slither from zero to complete.
Then I terminate the SXinstall App and unplug my my SXmini.
Then make sure joules is selected.
Then make sure you lock in the atty resistance.

And you should be ready to go.

According to gingervaper.com, they are going to put up a Boxer DIY kit tomorrow. It should offer a substantial savings if you're willing to do your own assembly and soldering.
Who lives in CA and is capable at soldering...will pay you my gratitude.

Hi
I only recently joined this forum .
I had no end of problems with 'device not being recognised'
I followed what yihi suggested ie install the first file to downgrade then install the 2.1 version which I assume had been upgraded to repair the empty battery bug.
But it was just the same.
I emailed yihi and they sent me a new test file which I received this morning.
I followed your (Georges method above including turning off my av) and at last its now upgraded and battery fault gone.
I received the file from someone at yihi called fancy from here:
(fancy at yihisxmini dot com) initially contacting their service department.
Thank god its done, these upgrades I am sure could be made easier.

I looked at video review by Twisted420 about that tank. The 510 connection looks to be quite robust, but the wicking does have to run through some long juice channels. That might be the potential problem area, as too much wick may choke off supply, while too little wick won't supply enough juice to the coil. Have you tried running the RTA without the tank and chimney?

Yes, this is my second Erlkönigin in 7 months. I have had no problems wicking my first one, though many people felt there was a learning curve to it. They're both authentic, so I doubt it would be a machining difference between them. But yes, that is something I will check next chance I get. I want to put rayon back in there anyway.

Running it without the tank? Not sure how good of a test that will be. Sure, I test resistance and vape a bit prior to installing the tank and filling, but I never use it as a dripper - it's really not designed that way.

FWIW, I did nothing to the current build/wick and it fired just fine this morning after sitting all night. The tank is getting might low and I'll be checking out the innards some time later today or this evening. Still thinking it was user error here.

has anyone done this on a dual boot mac or emulator or whatever??

Apparently, yes. ↓

Virtual box or similar to emulate a different os.

Another alternative (using Linux) would be using wine to emulate just the libs and provide a direct link to the USB port.

Regards
Tony

Sent from my keyboard through my phone or something like that.

Tony, I use VirtualBox everyday on my Apple PC's. Works like a charm and free too!

If you remove the tank and chimney and you don't get dry hits unless the wick is dry, that would suggest a wicking problem and not a connection problem.

Has anyone done the update on XP? My main laptop is a Macbook, but it would be easier to do it on the PC!

Hi Amanda:

For reasons I will not go into my MS box is XP only.

I can tell you that the SX "msi" did install, but I did not yet try the upgrade. Likely once the final upgrade is released I will use XP. If you do, or attempt, or are successful with the SX upgrade with XP I'd be interested to hear.

Just to avoid FLAMES let me say I was a MS Win expert before switching to the MAC. ;) XP has the best low-level interfacing which was its raison d'etre. :)
