They have told me they will do Titanium wire but didn't say it would be via a firmware upgrade. I assume it will be though because it's so easy to do. I just hope it's done quick because I've pretty much switched everything to Ti wire.

Duane

The only limitation I can see with supporting Ti is memory, but worst case scenario is likely that they release firmware for doing one or the other. Not perfect, but it would support most vaper's needs.

So do you have news about the sx?

Regards
Tony

I do. Well, not SXmini M, but still related. When I ordered my SXM from Varitube, I also got the SX350-J chip. The chip was DOA. The screen would not power up with either a digital power supply or a plain 18650. Varitube had me send it back so they could test it. They sent a working replacement without any further correspondence just a (business) day or two after they got the return. +1 for Varitube!

In SXmini news, my black/silver is three weeks old today. It's been used every day and still has all its black paint. I do see one minor scratch that does not expose the metal underneath, but even my satin Provari has those - and I'm not all that gentle with mods. I've place it in pockets with keys, coins, money clip, etc...

I sure hope I haven't jinxed it! :D

That's good to hear. Smart move, and strongly advised for all who buy ANY type of chip, to test prior to soldering. You'd have been SOL had you soldered that in to discover it was DOA.

BTW... it doesn't count as any less of a jinx is you use a smaller font. ;)

So with the DNA200 using upgradeable firmware, do you think the Evolv fanboys will admit that Evolv copied Yihi?

No, neither do I. ;)
The fanboys won't because yihi didn't invent firmware upgrading... The sx350 isn't the first chip that had upgradable firmware...
I think evolv would include it more so because it's learning from its mistake... They lost a lot of profit potential with the plethora of bad chips, most of which could have been saved by a simple firmware upgrade that could have been done by the end user...

Agreed, I was just mocking their tendency to claim that everyone copies Evolv. From what I've seen, this is mostly a catch up chip for Evolv - adding firmware upgradeable design, adding the ability to change the initial heat of the coil, adding TI - stuff YiHi or other competitors have already done.

Yeah doesn't sound very interesting...

Got a new SX Mini coming from Ginger Vaper with the fixed black paint. Not only did they ship it out 2 hours after I ordered it, they offered to flash the board to the latest version, and check it out after the upgrade to make sure it was 100%.

Fantastic service.
Yeah, GV is pretty awesome about their CS. Congrats on the new Mini, I can confirm the paint definitely is fixed on the new Blacks.

Dems,

Can you give a little description of what you find different about the new paint? Just curious.

I think Evolv using firmware updating in new products is a huge plus for vapers. There's no doubt Evolv was innovative and way ahead of the curve when the DNA40 was released and pretty much delivered temp limiting to the vaping mass market. With the addition of firmware updating I can forgive small issues that need to be fixed knowing there is a mechanism to address those issues without needing to buy a new product. Good for Evolv stepping up and seeing the need for this and hopefully delivering a new product that does this well.

It's always best for consumers when multiple manufacturers push each other with products having new and better features. While the manufacturers battle for market share with new and better products, vaping consumers win.

Yep, Evolv lost my money on this generation of chips. I don't gamble much, so I looked into the SX chips and I'm glad I did.

Who knows what the next round of innovation (from whom?) might bring us?

Exciting times in this industry. These are the days, my friend.

I have a very weird problem goiing on with one of my Kanger STM's. I am wrapping my normal coil I have checked all connections, taken it apart cleaned it well removed the positive post and checked the insulator but I keep getting a resistance of around .098 on the coil I normally get .083 on. Can't figure it out.

It's weird now it is reading correctly. Just going to leave it alone for now. At first I thought it was the SX but it is reading the same on both. Has anyone got the Silver with Black and hows the paint on them. The best I have gotten so far is the Grey. I am really disappointed with the black coming off in the one little spot, I can imagine how you guys feel about the paint coming off like I have seen. Who knows when I take the Jwrap off mine might be stripped. Not planning on it soon.

Are you cleaning the positive post on the RBA portion of the deck assembly as well as pulling the Brass positive pin from the lower portion and cleaning that as well? I'll push the Brass pin out every few builds and buff both ends of it where it contacts the RBA and where it contacts the device I'm attaching it to.

Man that Boxer mod is awfully tempting. I wonder when you upgrade if you use the one for the chip or the one for the SX.

Let me tempt you some more. BEST purchase I have EVER made.
