This has nothing to do with the SX Mini M for those of you who just received your units. Use this link if you want to try the test version of the software.

http://www.yihisxmini.com/download/...-0957_V2.23-test-version-upgrade-firmware.rar

This is only for other units that have the SX350J chipset. Posting this in the SX Mini M group may confuse new owners of this unit.

Sorry Fabe,

I just wanted to highlight the fact you are pointing out. Otherwise people will shoot their foot off - Ouch!

Why would they put the update out when they know it doesn't work right. Why don't they work on making it better instead of putting it out to people who just have the chip to find that it doesn't work properly.

I thought it would save a few posts when newbies start asking why the firmware doesn't flash on their unit.

Yeah - when I figured out what was going on with that J update and I knew about the two different versions. It kind of worried me too. :thumb:

I just updated my sx350j mod, and the Ti mode seems to be more accurate then the SXMini M test firmware. So maybe Yihi has made some changes to the firmware vs. the previous test firmware for the SXMini M a month ago. I have an Origen Genesis v2 mkII running a dual coil .1 ohm coil and it is perfect at 420f, 31j, and a kayfun v4 at .5 410f, 17j. Hopefully the'll release an updated 2.23 for the SXMini M.

So now all us SXM owners that have been testing this firmware and giving them the feed back don't even get the rewards for it. HMMM. Well it took them a month to come out with the other test firmware maybe in a month we will have something better. For now it is Ni mode.

I wouldn't sweat it. If you look at the previous firmware upgrades for the SXM and the SX350J, you'll notice that the names and the functionality appear to be the same including the version numbers. This firmware 2.23 most likely is a release that was modified for SX350J chip users so they can get into the Ti game as well as provide additional input for Yihie.

Well 2legs, I had to suffer for a whole month because they didn't release the firmware for both versions at the same time. Which I felt was kinda odd. Considering people using the SX350J chip are probably more enthusiast oriented. It seems like having the test firmware for both the SXMini M and SX350J user base would have given them a larger pool of testers. Hmmm. Who knows. Maybe there will be a new test firmware for the SXMini M in a few days. I'm just happy to look at my temp reading and have it make sense. I did a cotton burn test on my Kayfun build and there was no scorching in the 420f to 430f range, but I started to smell the slight cotton burn at about 435f which leads me to believe the temp readings are fairly accurate. Well, as accurate as it can be we the tech. I didn't really delve to deeply into it though. I just know that now at 420f in Ti mode provides a nearly if not slightly better vape with my build then when I was running it in Ni at 260f. YMMV. All in all I'm quite pleased so far. Oh the build on the Origen Genesis is 26g Unkamen, and the Kayfun build is 28g Unkamen if anyone was curious as the the wirre being used.

Any reason why Yihi is segregating the M class and other SX350J chips by firmware upgrades? Aren't they all the same?

Seems like a strange business decision to me.

Krack,

The only reason I can think of is one is the chip manufacturer and the other is a Mod Builder company. Sometime it makes life easier to keep business segregated for all kinds of business reasons.

Besides YiHi wants there Logo on the chip only design and YiHimini wants their Logo on the complete product that they produce. :2c:

I notice the 2 updates have the same number but are not the same size. Could be the installer or they could've made some changes all I know is the SXM update doesn't work.
The SXM and the SX350J update have always been 2 separate updates. The difference are mainly due to the different logo's that appear on the screen for each of the 2 different products as I believe has been mentioned. Due to that difference you would expect the 2 updates to be different sizes and the uploader is able to detect if you are using the correct product version or not and will only allow the correct firmware to be used on the proper product.

Both firmware updates are stated to be the same version so unless it could be proved otherwise we would just have to assume they are the same in regards to the functionality of the SX350J chip programming.

As I write this and since the v2.23 test software was released, I have been using it successfully in Ti mode. Since they have been calling it "TEST" we are only to assume it to be as such. It may work well for some, and maybe not so well for others. Much of that may be due to the unlimited combinations of variables that we all use. For me it works fine and I like it better for Ti than the NI200 program for Ti wire. Others find the NI200 program to be better suited for their Ti needs. I have found it good enough for me to keep using the Ti mode with Ti and have not even used any NI200 on the NI200 program which works quite well IMHO since the v2.23 test firmware was released. At some point soon I would expect Yihi to release another version which I would expect to have more improvements.

I guess it just depends on if you want to set your TC high or low. The Ti firmware only worked for me with a coil above .4 and come out using what would be the normal temp for a good vape. I don't know if there are any health related problems of wrapping a contact coil but with the 26 that's the only way I could get a decent vape at a normal temp 420 .43coil. Seemed stable but the flavor was different. Still haven't tried doing it with a more familiar flavor it was a very easy coil to build just like using Kanthal except I was a 3mm instead of 2.5 to get that resistance. I am hoping they get it working so it works with any resistance and can use my 5 wrap spaced coil that I have come to like a lot. I know with that coil at 265-275 in Ni mode or 460-470 in Ti mode I must be around 400-410 that seems to be the vape I get. They are both fairly stable depending on the J setting.

One thing I will say without hesitation is that the Ti profile does require a temperature setting between 40-80F more than a similar build using NI200. The way I compensate for that is to find the temp setting that does the job that I would get with a similar NI200 build and then all is good. We just need to ignore the actual temperature number that is being used. It just isn't reality to the real temp. Hopefully it will get to be more accurate in future revisions. After all, Yihi is still calling it a TEST version but it seems to work to maintain temp on Ti wire for me therefore performing TC with Ti wire which is most important to me. The actual temp number is secondary but would be nice to have it be more accurate for sure.

I received my Sx Mini M class a couple of days ago v2.2 which seems to be latest version, although there are two versions of 2.2 so confusing for a 74 year old.
I plan on using Ti when it arrives in a few days.
So I assume that its ok to use Ti in TC mode without this upgrade, I spent last night trying to download with out success btw that was before I read the above post.

Edit: forgot to mention I tried using my Atlantis with ready made Ni coils vAir-t 0.25 Ohm, results were very disappointing to say the least I had the rotating air holes fully open but taste and vapour production very poor.
Any helpful comments welcome.

Try 25 Joules and around 475 degrees for starters. Kick up the joules until you find your sweet spot on the Atlantis
