i love my sx mini, my only small concern is with yihi itself. having more than one device, i was curious where a person would send an sx mini if any work needed to be done, warranty or non-warranty. i went to their website and asked that question. i told them nothing was wrong now but i wanted to know where the device should be sent in case of any warranty work or non-warranty repair. i was expecting an address and that would be that- something to file away for future reference if any problem should occur. instead i got back a broken english cryptic answer from a very nice person named cherry. the customer cannot fix it by themselves have them contact me. maybe it is just me, but a real fixed address would be what i was looking for, not a "get a hold of us" message. sounds like they are doing things as they go instead of having a set repair location. what would be even better would be a U.S. address but surely they have a place where it would be sent and fixed? why not just have that info available ? my natural scepticism rises when i don't get the simple answer to my simple question. especially since yihi is new to most of us and, with this device, getting a foothold in the high-end mod market.
am i wrong to wonder why there is no address forthcoming? should i be worried or am i just being overly cautious? what does the forum think?......
I agree with everything that you have said here. While I am a fan of this device, I am not a fan of Yihi the company for several reasons .. We all know that Yihi makes good chips, but the reality is that making good chips is all that they know, even as they desperately want to become a "high end". There is nothing about Yihi's business structure, website, and overall presentation that reads "high end". Right now they still exist in a hustlers mentality, whether they want to admit that or not.
The way they handled the recent 510 pin issue is the same way all typical Chinese vendors would have handled it .. they avoid giving any type of return, exchange, or refund at all cost. If they can find a way to not honor a warranty, they will do it .. this is not how a true high end brand rolls. For all of the defects that we have seen with the new DNA 40 boards/devices, Evolv, Vapor Wall, Vapor Shark have done right by their customers who had an issue.
Now you have contacted them directly to find out how to properly handle any issues that fall under warranty, and you were given a typical Chinese response. Yihi needs to understand that it will take a whole lot more than a nice device in premium packaging to make them a legit high end brand. Their SXmini website is a bit of joke, and whoever they hired to compose their user manual in clear, and concise English, they should also hire to compose the content found on that website.
If Yihi wants to get away from the "typical Chinese" associations, then they need to stop conducting themselves like the typical Chinese do.

Evolv "earned" their status in this community, while Yihi thinks that they can force and manipulate their status by emulating what they "think" high end means. Yihi knows how to make a really good chip, but the are ignorant when it comes down to what it means to be a high end brand.
And that is what I think ;-)
