Yeah, a few of us have found that if you power on while holding the button to check the firmware, it locks the settings like that. Just turn it off or pull the battery and turn it back on and it will be back to normal.

Well, doing a "System Off" didn't do it, I tried that on my way home from dinner. Must have been by pulling the battery...

The only atty that sits flush on mine (grey no logo)is the atlantis, I've taken it apart already and found that mine only has 2mm of travel in the 510 pin.I ordered another from varitube to see if the newer stock is any better.

...My new black SX Mini from Varitube fits all my attys flush...guess my other one has issues...

Yeah the one on the left is quite a bit lower.
Ive noticed mine is "breaking in" and attys are sittinf flush much easier
Well, I've had the grey one apart, and the pin was soldered I'm place before it was screwed all the way into the brass ring/nut at the bottom of the 510, so it won't be getting any lower. I may dremel it down to remove the flathead groove so my attys sit a bit lower....or I'll just eBay it at a loss and get one with the new connector [emoji3]

Whose to say the new one will be any different? Have YiHi confirmed they are changing the 510 mech or just the brass screw to a non slotted one? All the mini's I have seen all atties sit flush.

Some atties are just junk with overly long 510 threading. Seen the same problems with Varitube and Fat daddy 510s.

The grey one I have is clearly assembled incorrectly, so if I'm going to replace it I may as well get the newer one. From what I've seen the insulator will be a silicone type material on the new version as well as a flat pin...that being said, I'm sure it will operate exactly the same.

Apologies for my radio silence glad you got this sorted I have zero confidence in most UK retailers and warranty claims but it is known as Rip off Britain!

That washer/insulator/gasket is the one that has gone to atlantis on mine :( rendering my mini unusable as it is nowhere to be found. I was going to get someone to make one of the same dimensions out of delrin/peek/nylon but that is going to be tricky.

After reading your post I may well just remove the 510 completely and retrofit a FDV V4 510 that way any probs later on will be easily fixed with avail spares.

The 510 is epoxied onto the aluminium chassis I have to say one of minis has been the mod from hell partly my fault and partly design and materials.

I will post back when I get my life back.

You can see the missing insulator/gasket Technonut has posted about in the PIC below.

Does anyone know a good way to remove epoxy resin will heating it up be the best way?

i'm on the same boat.. thanks for the pics..
i've temporally replaced the missing (broken) upper gasket with a silicone red o-ring of 1.6mm thickness. no spring (another o-ring instead).
that was the only workaround possible without removing the top cap. fixed 510, but it works at least

After having a chance to finally play with my new mini, I can agree that the 510 connector is this device's weak point. I love everything about the unit, except the 510 and the price. ;) Luckily I'm not too OCD and I've used a Vamo, so I can deal with the fact that some atties will always have a gap. I wish they would have cloned a Fat Daddy or Varitube 510 instead of trying to come up with their own.

Some sit flush, some not so much.

Thank you Nikki! I usually only have time to shoot these things at night on a kitchen counter with lousy lighting, and I'm too tired/lazy to break out the camera so I use the cell phone. For you and the mini I decided to make time to shoot them outside in the daylight. I also made sure to position them with only a very little green foliage showing in the background so you northern people wouldn't get too jealous. :D

This is the sweet spot wattage wise I think. I laugh every time I read threads about the 100+ watt mods and people saying they are future proof or even talking about going up from 100 watts because "it's not enough". It's really startling how some obviously don't understand the relationship between the coil ohm and power.
