Just got mine yesterday - LOVE this little guy. Feels so damn good in the hand. This is actually my first "decent" VW mod - was a strict mech-only user, and longtime GG lover, but recently have been lured over to VW because I was sick of changing batteries all day from sagging after an hour of use. Picked up a Hana-style clone mod at a local shop, but hated how boxy it was, and also didn't trust the chip - at lower settings it seemed WAY overpowered and burned out several atties within a couple clicks. So I took the plunge on this beauty

This is from a newer batch (procured from www.Vapinart.com) with flat 510 pin, and I must say, I'm not seeing any of the machining quality issues described in early reviews (e.g. no noticeable lip between black and silver, battery tube straight, 510 pin is dead center). Really impressive quality for a Chinese mod.

Awesome news, my mini is alive again :rickroll:

Congrats on it coming back to life Nailz! Quick question for you though. When it happened originally, was it plugged into a computer, or USB-to-wall-socket? I can't abide by the idea of never charging this thing via USB, not when it cost 2 bills - but also don't want to be mysterious case #2. :/

Thanks, only didn't have it for 48 hours, but sure missed using it. I was charging USB into a wall socket, but as the firmware screen was staying up, I am more concerned it might of been the fire button.

The coating on my black mini is noticeably more coarse than my grey one. When I pulled my wrap off the black, the adhesive took tiny little flecks of the coating off with it, so be aware of this. The wrap on my logo'd grey one came off with no damage to the finish at all.

I'm currently shopping colors for a Plasti-Dip DIY on the black sleeve. It's going to happen, just a matter of when. :D

Yeah, I frequent Planet of the Vapes off Fair Oaks Blvd. in Carmichael, and their location of 65th Street, Sacramento. They have a location downtown on J Street, and one in Roseville.

There are a couple others that I've heard good things about, but POTV is my local B&M of choice.

Thanks Dems. I may be out there in the next month or two for a visit. BTW, I went to high school in Roseville...

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!! Yes!
I wonder if you can just buff these smooth, including the colored sleeve, or how he did that. Coolness!

(Looks like dirty work to do it though )

So my mini fire button did stick on again, don't tell Nikki, but I decided to open the bugger up, could not see anything to where they could tell you have opened it.

Sorry but got to a bit negative here, I was not impressed with the inside of this mod for the price point, as I feared, moisture is getting inside the mod, and from what I could tell, it is getting through the 510 connection, as that is where the most moisture was, but due to the moisture, all the screws on one side that hold the board onto the mod are rusted, and right where the screw holding on the fire button actual has corrosion around it. To me the unit should not let any moisture inside it.

Most alarming thing I found, is a black wire going from the battery tube to the board had a chunk of the protective cover missing, so the wire is exposed to touch anything, and it wasn't from me opening it either, not a expert on these things, but sure not good exposed wire that could touch the body though, and I doubt it, but could even be that wire causing my problems.

I covered up the wire and dried off the inside with cotton buds, and put back together and is now working again for the moment, I don't think be to hard to seal the sides of the case from moisture, but not sure be easy to do the same to the 510.

Still love the chip in this thing, and it is solid, but not same quality on the inside and surprised more people not having problems if not sealed from moisture getting in it, yes a tank shouldn't leak, but most mods will see some juice moisture at some time.

Anyway, back to seeing how long it will last this time :)

Just got my SX mini in the mail just now. LOVE this thing! It'll definitely take a bit of getting used to. I'm a DNA guy historically, so the menu might take me a bit to get acclimated with.

Like I noticed that when you get to the main screen, the up/down buttons adjust the soft/standard/powerful mode right off the bat. I'm so used to just pushing the up/down buttons to adjust the wattage right off the bat, so I'll just have to play around with it to get used to it.

I did notice that the mod seems easier to use if you utilize the preset power settings (M1-M5)....

But so far so good! Really loving the form factor and size! :)

 Don't encourage me and my excessive ways DP2Raja! I have considered making a customized wrap for mine, but I need to decide if I will get another one. I have no justification for another though, I received 4 new regulated devices this week alone .. but somehow I can't stop pining for a new one so I can wrap it

I agree that some new finishes would be great :)
i figured you would wait for the march model with tc to get another one? and then do a follow-up review on how a great mod is now even better? of course, i don't want to put words in your mouth and review or not i am going to get another at that time. forget the finish or the new board with tc or whatever else they come out with, it just fits my hand perfectly- better than anything else i have tried to date. i have fallen asleep in my chair and when my wife wakes me up it is still in my hand and hasn't hit the floor. no other mod has ever passed the nap test except the sx mini- my hands love it and that is good enough for me....

Awesome news, my mini is alive again :rickroll:

I think I scared it into working again, as just bought a IPV mini this morning to tie me over till I could get the sx mini sorted

I put a battery in the sx mini this morning, and same thing was stuck on the firmware screen, left the battery in and went and did a few things, came back to the mini and the screen was off (left battery in for hours since the problem and screen has just stayed on) so I press the fire button and nothing, so now I think it is really dead, but no it was just off, 5 clicks and it is kicking again, been vaping on it for the last 10 minutes and no problems so far :D

I am concerned the problem will come back, but no more usb charging for it anymore, it is a bit of a pain to get the batteries in and out and concerned of cross threading the battery cap, but still think it was the usb charging that messed it up, or the only thing other thing I can think of, is juice has got to the fire switch and made it stick, which I am hoping that is not the case, as always going to get a little bit of juice/condensation leakage at some point, been using the Aqua V2 on it and for me that atty does not leak, but time will tell.

that is awesome news- no, no , not about the sx mini but the fact your aqua v2 isn't leaking! i just use the dripping part now 'cause i haven't figured how to get the tank side to not leak.... but it is nice to hear your sx is working fine. the secret now is to get another so you have another if the problem comes up again. then they can take their time repairing it and you still have a great vape. hey, it worked with my wife(thankfully she doesn't read the forum). the third one in march is gonna require some creative thinking- any ideas before then would be welcome.....

I'm still getting use to what buttons do what. One thing I did do was set the 5 memory settings with the power option set to powerful on the two high settings for RDA's and the other three for the Silverplay, Subtanks and Atlantis on normal. As you said, they're very handy.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you this but try to hold out til March for the new chip. I'm hoping that the Rdna gets straightened out, I really want a Vapor Flask and the new Mini.

i know you are going to figure this out eventually but those aren't "presets". each is a memory you can set for different toppers you use. for example, m1 can be for a dripper- you can set the watts and mode and keep it in memory for whenever you use that dripper. m2 could be for a kayfun- again, set the watts and mode for how you like it when you use the kayfun. now instead of changing each time you put on a favorite topper you can have the settings ready for that topper and just switch to the corresponding memory. my favorite thing is the "auto" setting for the screen orientation- now instead of "left" or "right" put it in "auto" and it will automatically switch the screen whenever you switch hands without having to go in and do it manually. a simple, little software advancement that has me thinking "take that evolv"- nothing major but a welcome change. it is the major but also the minor things that make this a great mod.
eek!i have had this in the bathroom when i have taken some pretty hot , steamy showers and never thought about the moisture ruining this mod- guess it will have to stay outside and be thankful i read this thread....another disaster avoided.....
