I'm not going to switch to Ni200, so the TC is nothing I can use. Old school I guess. But when they put one out with a cell phone built in I guess I will need to upgrade.

I didn't really care for the Ni200 build and TP on the rDNA 40 .. the vape was flat and the vape had a metallicish taste to me. It wasn't horrible, but a little weird for me. I don't feel like I need TP for the way that I vape, but I am intrigued by the technology and am always curious as to whether it works well or not. But yeah, Ni200 is not my future in vaping, just my future review and analysis :)

i guess i am confused as to what temp control can do for me- i don't vape with runaway temps now and i don't vape to overheat my coil and wick. if it was that bad i would just turn it down. isn't that a simple and easy way to solve a problem that doesn't really exist? i really think it is a solution lokking for a problem. i prefer the yihi focus in their mode application- now here is technology that i can relate to and feel the benefits instantly as i adjust between the different modes to see which one works best for me. try as i might, i just don't see tc as a benefit when i will never use Ni200. i do use the modes on every vape and would like to see that develop even more- it is technology that works for me since it requires nothing more than pushing a button which is something even i can handle.....

What does TC help with? My limited understanding is that temperature control among other things prevents burning of the wick(if using cotton), formation of harmful formaldehydes etc by ensuring the temperature is controlled while applying power.

I hear a lot of "no more dry or burnt hit", but I don't have a problem with dry or burnt hits with my atomizers as it stands now. I agree that the current SX350 has all of the features that apply to how I vape at the moment, and I really don't need more than what it presently offers .. that being said, I will still be interested in new chip because "I gotta know" :)

If you are to believe the evolv fanbois TP is the new messiah ;) if you can get a DNA 40 that works [emoji14] (I have had 6 six faulty boards since there launch) seriously I have 2 40 mods never had the time to reinvent the wheel with tempered NI200 and twisted builds due to the softness and trickiness of NI200. I better get busy and try some builds some atties are just no go given the critical nature of NI200 coils those with post holes are said to be almost impossible to get working.

Here's a Finish (Finland) DNA 40 gripper box mod I have had a month and never built a nickel coil :(

Might have some time this week maybe to see if TP is for me and time to sell or upgrade the minis.

I am thinking of a Cerakote finish for one if its good for a Glock its good for me;)

appreciate the comment- now tell me why and educate me to the true ramifications of tc. if i am wrong tell me why i am wrong. what does tc do for me that i am not getting now? i am listening so please explain it in terms an end user who is not an engineer can understand. thank you....

I'll give it a try. I'm not a fanbois(if that's how it's spelt) so hopefully it'll be objective. TC is helpful so that you can figure out what temperature causes your wick to burn and then set it right below that to get no dry hits, regardless of how bad the flow is to your wick.

My understanding is that the dry hits is what also contributes to a lot of the concern, and flawed research papers that have shown that formaldehyde levels are 15 times more than what you would get from cigarettes. This is being researched and debated at the moment so obviously the jury is out.

I have used nickel builds and it certainly is different from kanthal. That being said, it is slightly more complicated to wrap than Kanthal.

If you guys are having difficulty with nickel builds, I've personally found it easier to build with a twisted wire as it gains a lot more stability and I learnt most of this from this forum(in the erlkonigan thread).

Hopefully this helps!

what a simple and elegant design! i think it is beautiful as it is - i would leave it alone , maybe a clear coat if such a thing is available?
the Scandinavians have such a beautiful and different approach when it comes to design- from furniture to audio equipment their approach is not for everyone but i love it. i still have my bang and olufsen cd changer and even though i hardly use it i love to look at it everyday. it is as much art as it is a piece of equipment. gorgeous!!

i was told i was wildly off the mark- but your explanation is exactly what i was talking about. i can figure out what temp is too high by the tried and true method of taste. it costs me one wick but it is easy and simple. when i reach too high i burn the wick, dial back, replace the wick, and happily vape on. why do i need tc ? it is a solution in search of a problem- a problem i don't have. it doesn't happen that often and when it does it is no big deal to do what i just outlined.....

I was just reading through another thread and there was a post from someone who just received their repaired device back and he said "guess fifth time is the charm"

I have chatted with someone on the other forum who received 3 faulty boards in a row as well. I can't complain, the rDNA that I had for a brief time worked fine, but argghh I hated that nickel wire. The stuff is like chewing gum

Peter, I am right with ya. I may be curious about the TC purely from a "advances in gaping" standpoint, but it has no practical advantage to me. First, you are going to get a "dry" hit before you get a burnt hit...adjust wicks or juice control, and/or wattage resolves this quickly. Trust me, you will have to do the same with TC in order to know the proper temp in order to avoid the very same things. Ni builds are just not worth the effort for me. I am so freaking happy with my builds and vape experience right now that I cannot see any reason to put out another $200 smackers just to "keep up" with the next 'best' thing. I rarely vape past 30W anyway so the formaldehyde issue is moot at this point. The SXmini has given me major control over my coils now and I am more than satisfied.

I will wait for Nikki to do the practical study!
