I'm about to take the plunge into DIY, since myfreedomsmokes is out of stock on the PG-blend Virginia; I've ordered some of their Virginia flavor, should be here Monday. It's a FlavourArt flavor, and I have no idea if it's a real tobacco or a synthetic flavor. Anyone know?

I believe it is a synthetic.

Ok, thanks, and I'm really glad to hear that, actually. I was following the "N.E.T" thread for a while, but those guys just lost me, with all their jabber about tobacco varietals. It's not that I don't WANT to know, it's just a case of, I smoked cigarettes, and god only knows what was in THOSE things! I guess there must have been some Virginia tobacco, since that's the flavor I love, but the other tobacco flavors just kinda gross me out. I'm thinking I just don't *really* like tobacco taste in general, EXCEPT for this mild smooth Virginia flavor. If I ever got the opportunity to try some actual N.E.T. Virginia, I'd probably try it, but those N.E.T.s seem a lot more expensive, and I have to watch every penny.

Ok, off that subject since we're discussing synthetics here -- I now have 3 other vape shops' version of Virginia, and I'm wondering, how long does Virginia usually need to age/steep, to be really good? Because although the Virginia I get from myfreedomsmokes is great right out of the mailbox, that is very much NOT the case with these other 3 -- though I haven't yet tried the 3rd, just got it today. I'll give it a taste tonight, after it's had a chance to air out a little; the first one I tried (from myvaporstore), as noted somewhere above, had a hideous chemical taste/smell, and I REALLY don't want a repeat of that experience.

Oh, and I should probably opine on the Hangsen's Virginia I got yesterday. It's actually not too bad, after a full day of breathing without its cap. It's not "The One," i.e., like MFS's version, but it's not a long way off, either. I think a bit of age might turn that one into quite an acceptable vape. It doesn't seem to have the aromatic notes of the MFS, but who knows, maybe they will emerge after sitting for a while. I got the Hangsen's from Caterpillar Vapes, and it's a lot cheaper than the others, just $2.99 for a 10ml, I think something like $7.19 for a 30ml.

I have been thinking that I should avoid most of thebudget juices simply because the old adage "get what ya pay for" keeps ringing in my head, then again I have tried some of the higher dollar juices and was totally unsatisfied as well. So I guess to preface my retort is to say, or ask, which are the most trustworthy and reliable low dollar synthetic tobacco juice makers out there? Hangsens and who else should I give a monetary nod to next time I am looking for a budget juice?

I like ECBlend, their 5ml size is only $2.50, and they have a LOT of flavors. They do make each one custom when you order it, so all their stuff seems to need some time to age a little, a week or two I'd guess, though longer might even be better.

Which reminds me, it's been almost a week since I got their Cinnamon Tobacco (and Cinnamon Apple) so I should probably give them another try pretty soon.

If you're looking for a tobacco flavor but not entirely satisfied with what you're finding, I would definitely recommend an ejuice from ECBlend called "Dirty Ashtray" -- just to add a drop or two to another tobacco; it gives that smoky sort of taste, and makes tobacco-flavored e-juice taste extremely realistic.

Depending on what you smoked, I wouldn't necessarily recommend vaping Dirty Ashtray "straight" -- it's EXTREMELY smoky, and yeah kinda dirty tasting; if you were a Marlboro smoker, you might enjoy it by itself, it has a bit of that kind of sweet taste, but it's more like a Marlboro that's been put out and put back in the pack for later. I only use it to put in a couple drops to my Virginia, if I'm feeling particularly severe pangs or cravings. It really seems to help, providing such a realistically "cigarette" taste; I strongly suspect that it has a good deal of Tobacco Absolute, perhaps too much since it's SO smoky and dirty tasting -- but one drop, or two, is like magic.

As mentioned, Caterpillar Vapes offers 10ml for $2.99, so that's another possibility. I haven't tried the Hangsen Virginia I got from them since my initial tasting, but of 3 different ones I ordered to try and substitute for the good Virginia I love, it came the closest; I gave all 3 another sniff yesterday, and the Hangsen still smells the most like the one I love, so it will probably be the first one back out of the drawer for a 2nd taste. I've also heard good things about other Hangsen flavors, and at 2.99 from Caterpillar, extremely cheap to try out.

I'm very limited on funds, so I always look for bargains -- oh, High Desert Vapes has a sale going on until Saturday, 15% off your total purchase if you buy at least one bottle of e-juice -- coupon code BDAY15. They're also very cool about making custom mixes; I ordered some stuff from them a while back, and although their order form only gives the option of 70/30, 50/50, or 30/70, in the comments section I inquired if it was possible to get them 100% PG -- and they did it. It took a bit longer than a regular order, about 5 day's processing time, but once it was shipped it came FAST. I hear they often offer good sales there.

Andria... I think I'm going to have to try that Dirty Ashtray, could be what I'm missing.

Could be; I find that if my normally-great regular vape Virginia seems weak or tasteless, if I just put in one or two drops of the Dirty Ashtray, it really gives it new life. If you use too much, it's pretty bad, IMO, just kinda dirty tasting, but it gives a little of that bitter edge, smoky/ashy kind of taste; really makes it seem realistic. Also I got the Dirty Ashtray one level higher in nic than my regular, so adding that drop or two gives the nic a tiny boost, which also might be really helpful if you're having cravings.

By itself... it's more like the fug that hangs in the air after many smokers have smoked in a room for many years. Also this one does improve after a week or three of "steeping," aging. Seems less obnoxious, is about the best description I can give it, but it's still very smoky.

Andria

PS: also... I know you're pretty new to vaping, and from my own experience I can tell you that after vaping regularly for a while, the taste of all vapes does seem to improve drastically; that was really why I finally just dropped the cigarettes, they tasted AWFUL compared to the vapes, just bitter as sin. At first, they nearly all taste quite sweet, but if you're not smoking cigarettes to compare them to, that perception of sweetness goes away. Although I still find any vape, first thing in the morning, very sweet; I addressed that by making a "morning mix" for myself that is much sweeter than what I normally vape -- if it's going to taste sweet anyway, it might as well actually be sweet. It seems to help!

I just ordered some in the extra double strength- I plan to dilute it and use it as a flavoring, going to get into DIY as soon as my WholeCig WTA gets here.

There was something smokey tasting about Fin disposables I tried, that could be one reason I liked them. Between the light, smokey taste and the PG hit- they tasted and felt like smoking light cigarettes.

My tobacco ADVs are Mountain Vapor: USA Mix (Rich with a TH bite,) USA Rich and Bacconut. The Flue Cured and Cherry Cured are good but just ocassionals for me as I ordered them in too high a nic strength. Having tried and been happy with all of these I would imagine all their tobaccos are good and it just depends on your flavor preference. I will say one more thing about them. They only come in 50/50 and are pretty high flavor. I prefer a milder flavor and 50% VG is too much for me. Consequently, I dilute them with PG plus I add a bit of premixed menthol (Mr E Liquids menthol) to the USA Mix. Semi-DIYn, my juice usually only contains 13-to-15% of the premixed MV tobacco. But if you like strong flavors and can do 50/50, I can't imagine any tobacco vaper not liking them "as is."

I'm interested in finding a burning/smokey taste to mix a little bit into some existing e-liquids to give those sweeter tobaccos a more realistic edge. Anyone tried anything like that that works? I've heard about ECBlend's Dirty Ashtray, but I'm afraid of it... I hear it tastes like soggy gym socks. I need something with a little bit of peppery bite or bitterness to it.

I would try Vaping Zone's Super Concentrated Real Cig.

Edit: Also read of someone wanting "smokey".... Oakwood or Vape Wizard... either one provides that.

How are the EC blends? I like the prices and the ability to customize or create liquids. I've got a couple of ideas in mind.
They are good I love 7 leaf blend. I got when I ordered Red bow witch I did not like but 7 leaf is great It's in my rotation daily. It's hard to describe it's a little sweet and a little sour very smooth my last purchase was a 4 oz bottle for only 35 bucks. My number 1 all day vape is USA REDS from the vapor room its great slightly sweet not a lot with a mild nuttiness kind of peanut buttery easy to vape all day. I never leave home without it.

Finally got my 30ml of Tribeca and a sampler of Longhorn from Halo (both 0 strength, of course).

I tried Longhorn fresh out of the bottle, and I know everyone says Halo needs to steep, but I'm finding that if I dislike something before steeping, I'm not going to like it after steeping-- I'll only dislike it less.

Longhorn-- Overall, I'm not impressed. The smell is very similar to a cavendish/honey pipe tobacco blend I have sitting on my dresser; it's very, very similar in smell, which was promising. The taste is almost identical to GoodEJuice's Bella Vita, except the honey taste is waaaay sweeter and it's got more of a perfumey aftertaste. Not the chemical soapy perfume that many tobacco juices have, but more of a musky cologne type of thing. Maybe even a licorice flavor, which is nice, actually-- but it's drowned out by the honey. Someone compared this to a Black and Mild, which I can faintly understand, but it lacks the harshness and smokiness that a B&M has. Overall my biggest criticism of this is that it's just too sweet and, well, TOO smooth. It tastes more like Good and Plenty candy than tobacco. If steeping reduces the honey flavor at all, I might find myself liking it, but I don't have my hopes up. I'm just really glad I ordered this with Tribeca so that I can switch to a juice I really enjoy.

my very first juice purchase was with halo and i got tribeca. torque56 and longhorn. i could not stand the longhorn but loved the tribeca. the torque56 falls somewhere in the middle. the tribeca was gone in a week and i still have most of the longhorn. every once in a while i will give longhorn another try but just don`t enjoy it.

Halo recommends you leave it open 24 -48 hours, then cap and shake well. It needs a couple of days sitting to come together.
