Hello All!

OK, so I've fiddled with the dropper method of filling (a little messy and time consuming), the condom method (really messy, time consuming and wasteful), the Vapian Cartomizerfillinator method (way fun, but still a bit messy, a little wasteful and gear intense-ish). I've relegated my Cartomizerfillinator to a strictly cleaner/flusher role, which it is perfect for. I've also tried Vapian's Bottlefillinator, which is pretty cool. Overall, the jury is still out, while I explore other options.

So, I've started researching syringe filling. The videos make me want to yank my hair out at the roots. Everyone seems to do it differently. The most frustrating one was the guy that kept jamming and plunging, jamming and plunging, over and over, like he was basting a turkey! That just can't be good for the batting or the coil, right? Another guy jamed the needle straight down the air hole! Having destroyed one carto doing just that with a toothpick (to get the gunk out), I KNOW that can break the coil clean off! The one that made the most sense to me was a guy that filled directly from the bottle, gently ran the needle on the inside wall of the carto until he hit bottom and plunged. Simple, dimple.

What say you? Is this the easiest, most convenient, least wasteful, cleanest, etc... method? Is there a WRONG place to insert the needle, where I might damage the coil or otherwise destroy the carto? Trying to avoid noob mistakes. Reasonably, if I take care to maintain (clean and fill) the cartos, how many uses might they last? Your help is most appreciated. :)

1)Fill syringe.
2)Insert syringe on one side of the filler.
3)Push syringe to inject only half of the liquid.
4)Remove syringe.
5)Insert syringe on the opposite site of the filler.
6)Push syringe to inject the rest of the liquid.

Target the filler and not the coil.
Do not overflow.

You may start at the bottom and pull the syringe as you press.

Michael, Konstantine is in Greece; (diff time zone).
About filling cartos: I just drop the liquid in from the top, down the side-walls of the carto, usually from small (4.5ml) dropper bottles that I received with samples in them. I keep the bottom bootie on the carto and drop in 1ml/25-35 drops/4-5 droppers-full for a fresh, dry carto, and about 20 drops/2-3 droppers-full for a re-fill. Drop quantity may vary according to the viscosity of the liquid and the quantity of filler in the carto. Give fresh cartos at least 20-30 min to soak all the way thru before firing them up, and you're less likely to burn any lurking dry spots. Main piece of advice? Have fun with it. Don't stress.

i would recommend getting a tank to put over the carto. You will still need a syringe to fill it a bit at the start but thats it. IMO its the easiest to maintain and you can go all day with out having to refill it. Plus the taste is great and because your filling is always wet you will get a little longer life out of carto. There are some great tanks out there but i think mom and pops vapor shop has a great low cost tank thats great for people who are new to tanks. Plus it has a screw you remove to fill the tank and then screw it back in. Other tank designs are little more troublesome. The only thing you would need is what is called a saddle valve from Home Depot. This $6 tool allows you to punch a hole in a carto with ease.

I use the exact same method. It is easy and it works extremely well. I run my syringe down the metal of the carto. In most cases I am not even piercing the filler.

When I syringe fill I do it the same way as Konstantine and okcodemonkey do. I alternate between syringe filling and condom filling, but I think you get a better distributed filling with a syringe.

I have also filled by dripping, but I do it a little differently....put about twenty drops in through the hole in the threaded end of the carto and then finish filling from the top. This only works if you can drop a single drop at a time, wait til it disappears and keep repeating. If you have a steady hand and are careful there is no mess. If you don't do it right and get juice all over the end of the carto all is not lost, you can still clean it up, but then you have waste. As with any method of filling, when you're done gently blow it out to make sure the tube is clear.

Barb, as you've already learned the hard way, it's best not to stick anything through the hole where the coil is. Just dislodging it ever so slightly could make it touch and burn the filler, or break the very thin wires connecting it to the post (this I've learned the hard way). I don't syringe fill, but I would think that the best place to stick the needle would be between the metal wall and the filler, then maybe rotate the carto and slowly pull it out as you're filling to get even distribution (or reinsert like the others have said). When I fill, I try not to disturb the filler, because it's positioned in a way that it doesn't come in contact with the coil. Once it does, you get that burnt taste that will never go away (been through that too). This is why I wouldn't recommend poking at the filler (you could push it farther in or something).

...hang in there. Imagine's been hinting at some other new thing that they're playing with...maybe you won't have to worry about it for long...

Yes. :)

2)Insert syringe on one side of the filler.
3)Push syringe to inject only half of the liquid.
4)Remove syringe.

THIS. After putting a bootie on the bottom of the fresh carto, I usually draw about 1ml up into an 18-gauge blunt-tip syringe; insert it slightly down the inner metal side of the carto, and plunge about one-fourth of the juice in; I then Taryn Spin the carto inside a slender velvet battery bag; reinsert syringe again and plunge another quarter of the liquid; Taryn Spin again; and repeat until the syringe is empty.

Check the bootie for any leakage; this can be sucked up into the syringe and, if the top of your filler looks dry and white rather than slushy-but-not-wet, just "drip" this excess onto the top of the filler. If it's still not slushy, I drip a few drops straight out of the bottle until it looks just right.

I also usually let the freshly-filled carto stand vertically (top side up) for a few minutes, to let the juice fully soak into the entire filler.

What's that you say? Oh, here:

My refilling trick AKA The Taryn Spin
Impatient person that I am I wanted to try the chocolate right after it arrived so I started filling up my carto and wondered how can I force the juice throughout the batting inside without waiting for it to soak down. I tried an idea of mine, putting on the [bottom bootie], I popped it into one of those battery bags (top end up) and spun it in circles and the centrifugal force easily pushed the juice all the way into the batting, it looked dry as a bone when I opened it up again. . . Three times I dripped new juice inside and spun, I know I added at least thirty drops. After the last spin I added three drops on the top because it was well soaked in again.

I was able to vape it right away with fantastic flavor and tons of vapor and very long lasting. So far my cartos seem to thrive with that little helicopter spin!

Yeah, see? That doesn't sound easier to me than just dunking it into a "bootie..."
...and when I think about all the times I smacked myself doing the taryn spin thing...OUCH!

I guess it would be less messy/wasteful though...but since I only buy dirt-cheap liquids, and I'm scared to death of needles, I think I'll stick to losing the drop of liquid that I have to wipe off.

But like marlou says (below), try out the different methods and go with the one you like best! :)
