Yes, the part with the coil screws was somewhat loose feeling, I pressed on it and out the whole piece popped. On the second fasttech, its base never separated but it leaked in the same manner. Neither had small leaks, these were big leaks, I mean whole tanks rather quickly. I finally stopped using juice and tried water, I was tired of the mess and the waste. It took me some time to discover this because I, too, focused on the chamber and wicks etc. It was pure accident that I found the leak. I was mystified and so was looking the base over closely with a magnifier and noticed a loose "feel" as I handled it under the glass; that feel caught my attention.
As I said, the HCigars were just fine. They are in use 80% of my time.

Do you mean that the two press-fit parts of the base had a leak in them? I could have overlooked that since my suspicion immediately fell on the chamber/collar and corresponding o-ring. If the leak was entirely in the base, how did you find it out?

Incidentally the clone I have is HCigar and there is not too much between it and the authentic, perhaps the quality of the stainless.

I have two authentic and two HCigar Clones, and I can't tell any significant difference, certainly not in the vape. I have two more from SlowTech on the way. I also have an original dripper, but I understand from friends that the $5.00 FT one is the same deal. I recently ordered 40 tanks from FT for the GT. I like both the mini and regular plastic tanks, and I'm tired of dropping and replacing my four original tanks (half and half). At a buck or less apiece, how can you go wrong. Who cares about drops, the wrong juice, etc. at those prices? My two cents.

I purchased my Taifun GT clone from Focalecig. It came with all three air tubes so I don't know who makes it, but it's a very well made clone. The threads are smooth and the unit does not leak. I've found I prefer folding the wick under instead of over as most seem to do then cutting the excess wick to a little nub once the top is on. Cutting the fold off seems to help wicking and folding under should free the the part of the wick that doesn't feed in to the coil to soak up juice that may have dripped in to the chamber. Also, since the top wick now feeds directly to the coil, it may be more exposed to the juice. That's my theory anyway. Whatever, it works very well this way.

Link is broken, just go here and locate it, they have at least two different ones.

I've been meaning to give this way a try but had forgot all about it. But I got to it this morning, all I had to do was make my cuts in a different place as I was making a folded over wick but cutting the top section short and running the bottom one out into the tank.

Just to be sure here is what I did, two wicks passing through the coil, one one top of the other. The bottom wick doesn't go though the slots in the sleeve but curves down and around to the deck. The wick on top goes out the slots into the tank.

I did it the opposite way. One cotton wick through the coil, fold it under after the slots, then cut the fold off. I'm dtill fairly new at the Taifun GT, but this method is working best for me so far. If I only have one wick through the slots, it floods.

I guess that I should have said that this is a tradition wrapped coil with 3 mm silica, I always had great results the way that I was doing it but this accomplices what I was after and more.

got my 3 GT's from focal and 2 are beautiful, the 3rd the bottom of the plastic tank seems like the tool that cut it was getting dull. its not something that bothers me since i can take a sharp knife and remove the burrs. built one with cotton, one with XC-116(readyXwick) and i tried one with SS mesh. the one with cotton functions flawlessly, so much so that if i fire it without taking a drag that you can watch a bubble come out of the wick hole. no leaking no flooding and no dry hits, just beautiful. the one with XC seems to leak a little but i didnt "fluff" the ends of the wick when i installed it so that might be why. it only leaks if it lays on its side so i just keep it upright. the 3rd, i had to give up on mesh, nothing buy hot legs so i put cotton in that one and it functions as well as the first one i built. i do believe i need to order more of these. they will replace my kayfuns, i think they are that good plus they are a perfect match to my sigelei 20w. i may try mesh again but it was such a pain i may not since i have 2 sat22 clones coming from a group buy on facebook. im glad i listened to you guys and ordered these.

Not sure this is a Taifun problem but hoping someone can relate and help me out. I have my Taifun on an Astro (18350 mode) and sometimes when I go to hit it all I get is air. I seem to hear a little bubbling (cracking whatever the noise is you hear when you hit the fire button and the juice is heating) but get just a cold air hit.
Anybody ever have this happen?

Anyone using the dripper setup? How does it preform?

Seems kind of silly to dedicate a tank base as a dripper?

But I guess I'm silly cuz I want one ;)

I have one and I use it to test juices. Really good in this application. As a dedicated dripper? Many better. As a dedicated juice tester? One of the best I've used.

I'm kind of on a dripper hunt (playing around and chasing the clouds), and I swear theres a new "IT" dripper every week (maybe every day!? ) tobh, mephisto, magma, veritas, zenith, god the list goes on and on.... I've got a helios and nimbus now, and just cant see why any 1 is any better than another? (on drippers anyway). But like dwcraig1 I have an extra base too, and was just going to order one of the clone fasttech jobs.... but figured I'd ask how they performed.

Thanks for the fast replies fellers. ;)
