Here's a weird one.

I was just refilling one of my TGTs that lives on my Poldiac clone (came from fasttech, been working flawlessly since I did some work on the button assembly) and now, NONE of my TGTs will screw in. They just spin in the Poldiac's 510 connection. I must have done something stupid. Or stupidly forgotten something.

I'm at a loss. The same TGT will fit in any number of my other mods, and everything else will fit the Poldiac's 510. Just not *any* of my TGTs work (as of just a few hours ago) with the Poldiac.

I'm sittin' here with a big derp-face goin' on.....

Are they screwing in too far, past where the threads stop on the TGT's 510 (too deep)

Forget that, not possible. I just removed the Poldiac top cap and screwed on a TGT, it was extremely loose fitting. Its' as if the female is a little bigger than spec and the male is a little smaller than spec.

Yes, exactly. Only, I had this combo working for months until this morning. I have no idea ... I was doing, or not doing.
But it just....won't thread now.
The mind. BOGGLES.

I think he meant what do you do besides just drilling the hole, which is to "tap it" to give it threads..... looks like Bill beat me (thanks Bill). Also countersink the hole (entry point) if the metal is thick enough, to allow the screw head to sink into the metal to give a flush look. See AMD, there actually a lot more to it than just drilling the hole.

Of course there is more to it:
1. Drill two holes 2.05mm at 15 degree angle.
2, Drill 3.5mm holes 3.0mm deep to hide the screw heads.
3. Tapper M2.5-0.45 pitch threads. Regular Plug Tap will work and you do not have to go too deep, just enough to house your screws.
4. Lathe the screw heads to 3.4mm diameter, because the ones I had were too big.
5. Put little O-Ring washers under the head of each screw.

I misunderstood. I thought he asked how to have it done without drilling and tapping.

I just received my 2nd type A TGT from Fasttech, my first type a from them I've had for quite some time. There is considerable differences between them.
The new one doesn't have that tiny o-ring on the 510 screw and the chimney tube/top cap is machined from one piece of metal (not press fitted).
This is the one I bought to "modify" I'll build it regular first.

And @ Bill, what's the number on that Eye.

Totally jealous of Eye owners. I wish I could put enough dough away to save up for one, but I keep incurring medical bills. I thought the removal of my stomach would be the END of my problems and the BEGINNING of real recovery. I didn't realize it was a nefarious plot to syphon my vape budget dry! Garrrr!!!!

Sorry to hear about your medical issues. I was lucky to get the Eye, with an unexpected dividend, and immediate order. Perhaps they will come down in price. I hope so. Just started using today. So far, so good. Will report back to everyone in a day or three.

This is my own modifications on the bottom base..took out the spring and O ring and replaced by insulator..been using coming to one month..no leak..no gurgling..no short..

I did a similar mod, I used a #4-40 brass screw. Mine was out of necessity because when I separated the deck I used too small of a punch and it hosed the threading up in the brass disk. So if anyone tries to punch the deck out, take the white insulator out and use the biggest one you can fit.

So better or worse on the latest round of TGT from Fasttech?

Sounds like maybe 700 of them in the wild now then, don't expect to ever run into anyone with one though, I've never seen another one. Only 3 ECF members claim to have one.

I to would love to own one, but can't justify the expense. If they come down in price (not likely), I'd jump on one. Or if I hit the lottery :)

My last TGT( type a) from Fasttech is the best quality one so far, considerably better than my first type a.
Better than the 4 b's (3 I sold)
I haven't tried the "cheap" version yet.

Welp. I received my FT B version a week back. Works like a charm. Only gripe is the o ring
holding the collapsible chimney section is too skinny, so screwing on the tank makes it rotate. I just wrapped 1 round of dental floss and have the o ring sit on it and now it works perfectly.

I also have the more expensive clone from focalecig. It has the narrow slit and pretty much blows. The only good thing about it is that it has a larger airhole. But yeah. I don't have a Dremel at home so I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. May just have to stick to a 1/16 coil and don't bring it above 15 watts, which is kinda pointless since I came back to the TGT specifically for higher wattage vaping.

ETA: if anyone is skilled enough to widen the slits with a Dremel, I would be thankful if I could ship it to you (and supply return postage of course)

Clever solution. Thanks for sharing. I would think you might want to eventually get some larger O-rings, as well. I had to. They do make a difference. Nothing like instantly flooding your RTA when the chimney spins, right? Good luck!
