That derlin piece has to be removed to replace the tiny o-rings. I normally use rubber wrapped needle nosed to do this although I have damaged 1 derlin. Although I dind I normally only have to use the pliers the first time I do it(with a new to me GG) since I only finger tighten it back in
You are right for some reason I read venting cap as connector cap. I was a bit tired when I posted lol. You are right short od a damaged piece I never remove this one. Although I have never damaged this piece either.
I thought i read some time ago, that putting vinegar, a little bit of salt with the detergent and water would be good for cleaning. Are we stopping that now? I don't want to risk the brass. Also some people make a paste with baking soda i think, is that bad too? What about Ketchup, it works great but because it is acidic. Now that's bad as well? Sorry too many questions but i always forget the cleaning procedure of Brass
So is it ok to just leave this plastic piece on for sonic cleaning?
I usually leave my derlin in yes but I only use simple dawn dish soap on parts with plastics in it.
+++10. Thumbs up on the dawn dish detergent. It's all I use and I never take my orings off. I do lube them after all is dried though and this has kept them in good shape.

Vinegar + salt is sometimes used to patina (oxidize) brass so I'm not sure why those ingredients would be good for cleaning brass.

Well you have me curious now. I don't know how the same ingredients can be used to produce opposite effects but I have some brass that's naturally oxidized so I will try cleaning with this and see what happens. I've been using toothpaste for normal weekly cleaning and polishing compound every couple of months or so.
I was at a restaurant the other day sitting at a copper table and I was using my lemon wedge from my tea to "clean" the copper when a co-worker told me to add salt to the lemon juice. It did speed up the cleaning process a lot once I added the salt...so I'm confused.
I guess if it works, none of this matters. Still curious though.

I'm a bit confused about everything you do and do not take apart in the GG now. So the Negative Axis (Venting Cap) you leave fully in tact but you take apart every last bit of the Collector Tank/Connection Post and clean it in the Sonic Cleaner? I honestly have not taken apart my GGTS completely as I don't have any spare bits and don't want to damage anything unintentionally. If anyone could link me to diagrams/etc of what and how to take everything apart it would be appreciated.
Don't be afraid to take everything apart Xylo. The only thing that needs a bit of caution is the floating center pin and it's tiny o-rings. Here are the diagrams that should be useful GGTS User Manual - E-Cigarette Wiki
It is all designed to be completely torn down as needed. Just be slow taking it apart so you can see where everything goed and be careful not to lose the o-rings.
