Twisted lead parallels? Only me that I know of Bro

I've been searching and yes a number of people have wound them I found in the past. I just simply cannot locate where now, on what forum, stateside or abroad. But my purpose in adapting them was to incorporate tension, first in the center post wind, Matty's excellent contribution then to stabilize pairs. I cannot understand why more peeps haven't tried this, except for that fellow I think in the Phillipines that stepped up quickly and duped them on that other forum.

As parallels go they're easier to do because twisting the leads makes installation far and away easier. It locks in the parallel symmetry and you don't have to fiddle with distorting the leads as you mount and set.

Thanks for the nod E.

You have a great day and good luck.

Gotta build!

:D

I agree that one must match the wicking to the build and the device. I vape Taifun's day in and day out, and need the KGD to get the job done. Does it gunk up after a couple of days? Absolutely! I have to change my wicks every other day, though daily would be better. Anytime I feel like I'm not getting "my vape," I will either rewick or pick up another already built and wicked taifun backup. I mean instantly. I do have a tolerance, though, for a less than perfect vape, and can continue for some time after really needing to rewick or grab a new build. You can have my KGD at the same time as I give up my guns! :2c: :toast: :D

It is funny, how we all vape so different. When my KFL is empty, I break her down for a cleaning and rewicking. I have my 7 KFLs built, and ready to go. Building, is my nighttime chore. :)

They can never have my guns! :)

Mac, thanks for the link to the pin vises! I need a bigger one as mine had to be 'forced' to hold a 3/32" bit and I wanted to try 7/64"..
I'll have to grab the Tamiya vise, I use to love my Tamiya R/C cars back in junior high he he.

Love the Tamiya workin' thin wire. Got direct from the maker, good if a little pricey. The common "brass pin vise" on Amazon's the workhorse. Prolly comes from a hundred sources in RoC. Like the design for the narrow collet face taper. Let's ya get into very tight spaces with a good hand hold. Don't have one mono? I'd consider one. But WOW…see over the past coupl'a months the 5$ price tag has been goin' up! These days, 6-7$. Still a bargain…

Amazon.com: Buying Choices: SE - Pin Vise - Brass Body, Soft Touch, Professional

Since I use the face of the collet (jaws) to press up against the end turns, it helps to be able to get tight in. Wish the Tamiya were more like this cheap baby right here…

Good luck M.

Somewhere out there
www.youtube.com
Some out takes and production clips from my review on the "coil master" summed up into a video with one message: "Tension winds flat SPANK anything that'll ever come off a tool where the wire spins"

Here's the vid for my fellow tensioned micro coil freaks :)

I do in fact have one but its for micro drill bits for like jewelry and what not. A 1/16” bit was the biggest I could slide in before I had to start prying the chuck apart. My 3/32" is shoved in there, and when I tried to do a 7/64", I couldn't put the end on and tighten it down.. Gonna order one of these as soon as I get home!

My only issue with them is controlling tension, i think it's user error though

I've explained elsewhere, the first few I did were quite by accident tryin' to do supX's early close contact coils which were hot. I was skeptical I didn't think contact would do anything but get 'em super-hot. But E the darned things just kept cozyin' up to each other. So I said fine, let's make a few. Dang if I couldn't get it consistently for weeks after that. Reason? The tension I was applying was varying.

First, use the edge of the spool as a rest and a fulcrum point. It's the pulling with one hand slightly that actually applies the tension. Keep it constant with a thumb against the pin vise. Stabilize the other end of the bit with the other hand, thumb or index finger. Start out very slow to add just enough tension to form, increase tension gradually and you will see the point where they first start to adhere to each other. Just a bit beyond that and you get to "sticky"…where they're actually pulling in towards each other. That's where the magic happens.

Good luck ether.

:)

Thanks Mac, I think I've been doing it the hard way but I'll give that a try.

Bro, I think I sold you short. No better, more precise or eloquent description have I written than on Dec 16 last when I added this as one of the opening posts on this thread...Re: How to simply make a contact micro coil…get tensioned!

Tension or strain will allow you make a coil with turns that are as proximately close as nature will allow. It is that point in physics that opens the magic window to performance. This level of tightness I've defined in layman's terms as adhesion. To say tight is inadequate to describe it. So it's a measure of tightness. A point on the scale of tightness that we're seeking.

You can't say it often enough for me, my friend. Again, you nailed it, reminded us of it, and hopefully we all learn it, never forget it, adopt it, and allow our vape to go that magic performance level, of which you speak. I know I do! Well done, again, to you and Russ, and all that contribute here! There really is magic in these coils! :toast: :D

Yes, thanks for the link. :) I have some catching up to do. :)

I wrapped new coils for my KFLs today. I love my Gizmo! I will be moving to my new house soon. I need to find 'the perfect spot', for her in my new kitchen. :)

Deluxe Coiling Gizmo US PAT: 5,927,059. It was made by this company. Coiling Gizmo®

But, I don't think they make this one anymore? I got REALLY lucky. A jewelry maker, going out of business, was selling it. It was older, but new in the box. Rarely, am I lucky like that!

I love good tools! I love 'industrial'. She has made me a very happy coiler! I proudly, have her attached to my kitchen counter. Heck, I don't cook in there... Yes, I know I am a strange woman. :)
