My Steampunk sleeve came and it will DEF fix the battery door issue, and due to its rubbery surface I will be far less likely to drop it in any case, so it's all good. It's a pretty thick wrap, not the prettiest thing in the world, I tried to upload a photo but it's too large, so I'll have to fix that. It's not cheap, but I think it will protect the mod rather well.

It is a shame to cover over its beauty that said I can see it in my imagination any time I like... What I cannot do is prevent batteries from emptying right over my coffee cup causing one to fall in. I think that you could have what you wanted as far a sleeve by buying a whole one (about 8 bucks, and I think they're starting to make them cheaper) and with a judicious use of a razor blade and some decision making, you'd only need to cover the battery door. It might be fun to design the lower part of the sleeve so it's diagonal or some other prettier even, design 2/3 up the mod. I'd do it in clear though, if you can get that. The black is pretty... .intense. :)

How did you fix the door, Tonee N? Just in case, LOL. ;)

Mine came today too. I have the same opinion that you have. It is a nice item and does make the Steampunk feel secure in my hand. It certainly isn't as pretty with the sleeve on as it is with the sleeve off, but protection is good, I guess. The price is right too - $10.95 less $3.95 in Prime dollars. I do think I would prefer the opaque, but am not sorry at all that I paid $7 for this sleeve. I will post a photo once I take one.

Congrats PJ.And hey, i noticed by your signature that we've been vaping for just about the same amount of time. :toast:

Cheers, @Craybee. I changed my signature recently from one with more info. It looks like we have been vaping almost exactly the same amount of time. I started around Memorial Day in 2013 and went totally off analogs with my first decent mod - June 4th or thereabouts. I joined this forum, at the suggestion of a friend, for help in finding the best mod for me. I wish it was as easy for everyone as it was for me but I was highly motivated.

Just ordered the $11 black sleeve from Amazon, plan to take the exacto knife to it. Not had a problem with the door in my hand opening (I have large hands and my pinkey is always underneath the door) just when I've dropped it in my truck (so far only from console to rubber floor mats) or my work desk (onto carpet). The door has popped open on every drop so far though. Thought about what you said about a diagonal cut and looking how I hold it I might have an idea. Figure if it doesn't work I can cut more to just a door sleeve. Went with black instead of clear because all my tanks are black so there would be some balance.

I've screwed up things that cost a lot more than $11 so no worries if it doesn't work. Only hoping the design on the wrap maps exactly to the mod since my cutting will be based off the wrap.

Post a photo of your handiwork, please. I would love to see what you do.

Don't use it. Lol
J/k
I used a small wall picture anchor nail, trimmed off enough to fit, and tapped in the hinge.
Hasn't come off since but the door always opens on me.
I'm getting used to watching the Teslacig logo come on.[emoji2]

Got the sleeve, been using it since yesterday. Will be posting my thoughts soon and will be cutting soon, maybe this Sunday. Will probably be several posts over time, will make a few cuts/changes but at this point I'm thinking I'll end up with just the battery cover left.
