TT I have never been a morn person. In a few more years I won't be a morn person or an afternoon person!!!!

Yes the flooding is getting really bad. I was just reading about a guy that left for Drs appointment yesterday morn and by the time he started for home it was flooded so bad that he couldn't get to his house. He found his kids/wife/dog at local school. They had to leave town. Just terrible!!

We had a big flood here in 2007. One of those kind that only comes every 100yrs or so they say. I had never seen the water get that high here. Town built between two rivers with a creek running into one of those rivers from another direction-dams above both rivers. We happen to live outside of town on a hill. Could look in the bottom watch the water. Our road between the creek and river. Such devastation!!!!!

Darn, hoping the rain quits for some and starts for others. Is there a chance you will have to evacuate Padre? Stay safe on your way to work....

Thanks for the coffee this morn Pokey. Yes, you could have left that damn cup in the cabinet. So glad to see Pokey back and Perky!!!!

Pray those fire numbers are getting smaller TT and SC....

no evacuations and it looks like we are getting to the tail end of the storm system coming up. Hopefully it will start drying up. The biggest problem is the flash flooding because so much rain on saturated ground. We don't have a problem with rivers flooding too bad yet. I have never seen it rain so hard for such a long time as it did last night.

First an earthquake, then a hurricane, now flooding! what could possibly be next!

Yeah toto, I guess a person can find bad weather and weather events regardless of where he or she goes. I know Kansas can get some tremendous rains, but the tornadoes would worry me more than anything. We get them here, but not like in Kansas.

And that flooding is really bad too. Like a fire, it can ruin a lot of land as well as homes and lives.

Its amazing what we have to go through just to get through this life. But as bad as it can be, there are so many places in the world where it can even get worse and there is no help for an individual once something does go wrong.

But anyhow, there's not a lot of places a person can live where your not going to run into some kind of weather events.

Yeah Padre, I'd have to say you have had enough up that way!

TT The Osage Indians settled here and named the town which means "between two rivers". The story goes that protects it from tornadoes. As long as I have been here there has been strong winds but never a tornado hit in town. They have hit within a quarter of a mile of us before we moved here. In fact on the place where I lived as a kid.

Padre lets don't even think about what might be next. Just be prepared for anything..... I do hope the flooding doesn't get worse for you and that the storms do subside.

speaking of locusts..do you get the 17 year cicadas in your area?

they swarm, but at least they don't eat much

We get those every few years ... the cicadas .... but its the kids that come to visit that eat so darned much!

And Pokey, dear Pokey, that thing about the locusts was just absolutely toooooo funny!!!!!!! You are so bad!

And salem, I like your smiley face!

And toto, I'm glad you don't get tornadoes where you are. We had one go down the dirt road right out in front of our house one time!

Cicadas buzz around here all summer long - it's part of the background noise of the region. They're so loud that the silence is deafening when they quit come fall.

I don't know if they're 17 year or not??? I know their empty shells crunch loud underfoot, though. Lawd help if you step on them barefoot - Yechhh!

Good morning everyone! My hubs would think I am up to something if I had a smiley coffee cup. I was catching up and its unreal about the flooding in the east. I suppose anywhere one lives has a trade off. For me-living 12-15 miles West of Lake Michigan really sucks. We have 6 months of tolerable weather-the other 6 months cold. The snow storms/snow fall can be frustrating. The only positive thing is jobs. It was the main factor in our decision to move to Wisconsin back in 91/92.

I will be going soon. I have to go shopping. See you guys later and stay safe.

G'Morning weather watchers, coffee drinkers, cicada crunchers! I still need to read to catch up, but wanted to say hello before the work day carries me off. We're having a wee little heat wave now, and we really do need this sunshine! My flowers are all confused about what season it is...Now they're saying to prepare for an especially wet & cold winter. Jeez. Can't they just let us enjoy the illusion that summer may last more than a couple weeks around here!

Right techno as though we don't have enough confusion in our lives. One thing about it we can always have soemthing to talk about when TT isn't around with his stories-The Weather. We were in the 100's last week and it is 72 deg here now-below normal temps.

TT, We do not live in town between the rivers, so do pay attention when alerts for the T's are out....I probably should have shared that just south of town the rivers meet. To get into town. The town is built where you have to cross a river bridge from the east west or south.

Hate cold weather Sdh, wouldn't like it there at all, but I have seen some beautiful Wisconsin country....

LOL Toto the beautiful countrysides are an illusion. Come back in November through May. Soybean, corn and squash grows well in this environment. However, this year was strange. WE had a cold and wet spring, very hot/dry summer and now cool again. My squash are blooming now. They would not produce during the hot weather. They think it is spring. WTH? Anyway, I do have to go now...have fun!
