TT, you need to realize it might take some time to get used to the CPAP and sleep through the night with. They call it being compliant. The pressure (somewhere between 4-18 generally) you will need depends on your test results and if it is a higher than 10 or 12 you may take a while to get used to it. When i first went on CPAP i was at 16 (the machines only went to 18) and it was very hard to get used to the pressure blowing in my nose and out my mouth. I use nasal pillow type masks since at that pressure the other types wouldn't stay sealed and being a mouth breather caused torrents of air to come out of my mouth while using the CPAP. I used a neoprene strap to keep my mouth shut till i slept with my mouth closed naturally. The masks have come a long way since i started using them around 1998. THIS IS NOT meant to be discouraging but to let you know if you have problems it is normal. I sleep so much better with my CPAP and i'm 100% compliant, but it took me a while before i stopped taking it off in the middle of the night. I feel myself relax when i put the mask on and still end up sleeping on my stomach a lot of the time.

We still tell people who do smoke that its okay to smoke in the house and we want them to be comfortable, but if the truth were known, I'd just as soon they went outside and smoked. I never thought I would be one of those cranky ex-smokers but I guess I am. And I think ex-smokers are the worst of the bunch! LOL

TT

No, if that's your preference TT, it is your house, your rules. I don't consider it inconsiderate at all, particularly now that you've got a documented health issue and don't need the exposure. I've been an outside smoker for 15 + years. On occasion, I made exceptions for friends who were visiting and allowed them to indulge their habit in my home and I always regretted it, even when I was still smoking cigarettes and sat right beside them breaking my own rule - happy as hell not to be freezing or sweating my azz off outside for a change.

Notice I still consider myself a smoker, not an ex-smoker. Just because I've laid cigarettes to the side in favor of vaping hasn't changed that for me - it is a mindset, a personality trait. Many will disagree with my observation; I see their side of it as well and don't argue it either way as it is a personal opinion and one that I only hold true for myself. However, it could be said that I am cranky and I'd have to agree with that, regardless of the other label! :)

Pokey, I guess I still consider myself a smoker too, even though it is vaping. Someone asked me yesterday if I was using the PV to quit smoking and I told them no, just a different way to smoke! I am glad it is healthier and less stinky, but I guess once a smoker, always a smoker until I can give it up completely. I still go outside to vape! Once the weather is bad, I tend to stay in, but usually I am outside for the dogs.

"If you are afraid to seem rude pull the old I have emphysema and can't do second hand smoke card "

Far better than having sign on door-"No smoking, Oxygen in Use"-believe me!

LOL My sister has a sign on her door "Please Remove Shoes" :) I think it is acceptable to expect guests to abide by our own house rules. If not they don't have to visit which is OK too IMO LOL!

Yup, Padre, to me it is just a different way to smoke. Unlike a lot of people who plan on giving up vaping as well, I have no intentions of doing so at this point in my life nor in the forseeable future. Vaping is/was a means to get away from cigs and still enjoy the act of smoking and cater to my dependence on Lady Nicotine.

But that's just me. :)

You know I wish that we had kept vaping outside like we smoked outside. I am sure that we would vape much less. I think it just felt so good not to have to go outside that we just didn't. We still do not vape in the same room with our parrots though. I know it is thought to be safe but I am taking no chances with their sensitive respiratory system :)

As much stuff I have stockpiled at home, I can't quit anytime soon! Maybe I will revisit the thought of quitting vaping in 2013!

LOL, I'm actually looking forward to the CPAP and like everything else I do, I guess I just make up my mind about it and then do it. The day I received my first vaping gear I was already determined I was going to make it work one way or the other. I put the cigarettes down that day and never picked them up again. I'll just do the same with the CPAP.

Getting sufficient oxygen to my body and organs is important to me because there is too much I still want to do. A little inconvenience or getting used to that device will be easy.

LOL, I liked salems comment about removing shoes! We never wear shoes in the house and I think it makes people uncomfortable to the point that they want to take theirs off too. But we don't make them do it.

And we have very few people who come here that smoke so its not a big issue to us. We like people too much to do or say anything that would make them uncomfortable. Its nicer just having them here.

Morning all! Well, it's still technically morning for me anyway...
All this talk of smoking indoors~when I was smoking, I would never feel right smoking in someone's home, even if they said it was OK. But, I always felt some extra love for hosts who had a big can or ashtray outside by the door, so that I knew I had a place to go!
Now that I vape, I feel fine vaping indoors, but I always tell my host to let me know if they can smell it or anything, and I'll go outside. So far, no problem. I am real sick of people who nag me & say I haven't "really" quit. I just blow vape in their face and smirk.
Which, by the way, leads me to my new word of the day: "sneeriously". I will find several ways to use that today so watch out!

We don't wear shoes in our house either and as soon as I go to someones house i'll take them off. Its helps with keeping the carpet clean and my son plays on the floor all the time so I like to keep it clean for him.

See and if I were to visit you I would not be at all offended :)

I remember when I had those shoe covers like the doctors wear and they are blue lol I used to be .... about it but normally when people see no one in the house wearing shoes they just slide them off. I would want everyone to feel comfortable coming over and kicking back. You wouldn't offend me salem, not at all....I am a tough cookie lol
