Pfffttt. I will be too old for the party by the time I hit 5000 posts, LOL!
Lee was a brilliant leader, PI, but he couldn't match the north's manpower or equipment. Still, though, the Southern troops fought brilliantly, throughout the war. He made a big mistake at Gettysburg in overestimating his soldiers capabilities.Lee's strength was fighting a defensive battle and counterpunching. Both of his offensive incursions into the north didn't end well (Sharpsburg, Gettysburg).
What party are you two talking about? There is no party. lolBS.
Hang with me as I start to get my bounce back - we'll get you there before we're both too old for the party.
I hope.![]()

Didn't you get the Southern Belle's test? All you had to remember was that the South lost.
That's sad and uncalled for.Trust me, PI.
We are reminded every day or our lives one way or another.
I'm to bummed out to even leave a Gummy marker. hummm,,,,
Exactly, PI. Rifled muskets and artillery pieces rendered those tactics obsolete. Those same Napoleonic offensive tactics were still being used in WWI, with even more disastrous results.
I think that he was aware that the north would grind his armies down in a protracted war and that his best path to victory was to bring the war to the north.
