My husband decided last week that we needed to try to quit smoking (again). He is wanting to push himself for a Major bike race in Oct. And my health, which has been declining for years had gone from bad to worse in this last year and smoking was not helping. Even though I am close to a true diagnosis (hopefully) and was going to have to quit, I told him that i was going to refuse to quit this time. I would support him in anyway i could though, and he knew it.
After the last time we failed to quit, I had realized that in all honesty I enjoy smoking way too much to give it up. I couldn't even last a day without 3-5 (even while taking classes and medications). So i gave up, but would still support him while he tried.
A few days later a friend told me about the e-ciggs and their success rates, but they were stupidly expensive. Then we noticed laterthat day that Xhale O2 was selling them @ 7-11 for $20. After some light discussion, we went and bought two starter kits and I started the internet research on e-ciggs and came across your forum here. All the while hoping to eventually be able to replace smoking for vaping. After the first day i was down to 3 analogs. I was so impressed that i went crazy reading up on the forums here and even asked a stupid question in chat out of pure laziness. By day three I was lighting a smoke taking 1 drag and putting it out because of how aweful it was. I did that all day and never made it through the entire smoke. Today is Day 4 and I am officially smoke free with no desire. The e-ciggs have completely replaced analog ciggarettes.
(Obviously by the rambling on and on in this message I am dealing with some withdraw issues from a choice to take a decrease in Nicotine along with other harmful chems but honestly I am finding the strange mental status to be quite amusing.) I have enough medicines to take every day it is nice to be cleaning out the un-neccessary poisons.
ANYWAYS, during my research on these forums,I found some posts about madvapes.com and after checking it out and making calculations of smoke vs. vape and saw that vaping can easily cost 1/4 of what it costs per month in Ciggarettes after making the initial start-up purchases of supplies and liquids. So I placed my first order and bought an Esmoke 510 kit, some fun flavored juices, and a few extra pieces that will wear out. (it all arrived today and I must say we are extremely pleased with all of it). It is a very nice and simple set-up and will be more than adequate for my needs. I even discovered that an old glasses case makes a great place to cary the pieces needed for portability.
So as the title says, Thank you. All of you for making these forums what they are so that people like my husband and I can go learn the information, tips and tricks needed to be able to make an educated decision that is going to make our lives, and the lives of our children much better.

While I am not the one that created this forum I must say I am quite appreciative as well. This forum directed me to my eGo which is my favorite to this day. I also found instructions on here on how to build my own and now I am the proud owner of a home made 5v beast of a PV!!! These forums are great and have helped many of my friends as well. Couldn't be without them.

Congrats and welcome to ECF! I can completely understand what you're going through. I tried everything to quit smoking only to fail. I really thought I enjoyed smoking too much and I'd be a slave for cigarettes until they killed me. I've had my share of serious health issues and I'm still going through some. When I first started vaping I just wanted something I could use in the house instead of going in the garage or outside. I didn't intend on quitting and honestly, I didn't think it would get me to quit. I was so wrong! I quit smoking the day I got my Riva kit and became an "accidental quitter." It's been wonderful and my doctor's are ecstatic that I've quit!

Congrats and future hope you remain with it. The forums here are a great source of support and information. Some really good people here that is for sure. I wish you well in your other medical issues but know that you are kicking one that has caused so much and now doing it more healthy and hopefully it will be a chain reaction to assist in helping the other issues you are experiencing. Again welcome and good luck!

Hi Deadlichic, Welcome to the forum. I really relate to everything that you said. I tried to quit for the last 20 years of my 40 year smoking career, but I just loved smoking too much to go for very long without. I ordered my first e-cig just because it was one more 'new' thing to try and I always gave every quit smoking option at least one shot. When it arrived in the mail I really didn't think it would work, but from the moment I tried my 901 I knew that my life would never be the same. That was over a year ago, even as I write that it's hard for me to believe. I still feel like a smoker, still get all the satisfaction I got from cigarettes, but without all the negatives. My lungs have cleared up, I can taste and smell again. Life is a whole lot better.

I'm glad you gave this a try. If the withdrawal symptoms get strong you can try upping the nic mg's on your juice. Don't worry about vaping too much in the beginning, most of us do, it will level out with time. Madvapes is where I get most of my supplies, it's a good company. I did, however, get myself a Riva from Liberty Flights. The battery on the Riva lasts alot longer than the 510 and is only slightly larger. Best of luck, let us know how it goes.

My neighbor and a very close friend of mine who saw how well these were working and has also decided to try it. She started the way we did grabbing the kit from 7-11. Not surprisingly it is working for her as well. We ordered her the same kit I just got as well and I snagged some more e-juices to try. So far I am loving the three i picked from the first order, thought it might be fun to get a few more.
Also thank you all very much for the replies and support. It really does feel good that so many people can come together just to be able to support each other to start a healtheir life style.
