I agree, screw carts. The only way I use a 808 cartomizer now is if I rip the fill out and use it to direct drip. 901's and 510's IMO blow 808 cartys away. Especially if you rip the bridges out and direct drip. But what blows all them away is the good old be112 copper atty at 6v. Nothing beats dripping at high voltage. I go through alot of juice but I get satisfying hard tokes. I also cant understand why people would prefer V4L carts and dekang juices over direct dripping and great juices offered by many companies. Plus its cheaper!!!

Cartomizers didnt work for me...Im a new vaper and my first purchase was the KR808D-1 starter kit...

What I found was the cartomizers choked me to death (even after breaking them in), and even when I refilled with juice, they choked me out - so a local vaper sterilized a drip tip for me and let me try dripping using a 510 atty and adapter to fit my KR808 and wow what a difference. Even using the very same liquid I used to refill my cartomizer with which caused me to choke up a lung was just fine when I used it to drip. Dripping isnt really that hard, I got a stainless drip tip for $5 and now Im vaping just fine.

I think maybe some of us have a sensitivity to the polyfill or something. I also tried pulling the stuffing out of my cartos and just dripping onto them but that was short lived also, I think some people are just drippers by nature and you just have to do what works for you...

I think cartomizers have their place. Like in my truck, for instance. the atty/cart setup is a big enough pain in the kiester when I'm driving and the hold 6 to 8 drops. I can't imagine the hour drive to Ann Arbor (the nearest larger city to me) trying to drip at 3 to 4 drops each time. That wouldn't be too safe. There's no traffic lights most of the way there.

Yep I agree with cartos have thier place, mine are mostly in the car too. or if I dont want to look like a drug fiend in front of people LOL. I can imagine soon instead of no cell phone texting laws. They will have no dripping and driving LOL

Got to a point where they were dry or flooded, no middle ground. No vapor = unhappy lady! Blew them out and placed both on paper towel overnight, working fine today. I think using the "blue foam" that I purchased yesterday may have contributed to the problem. I feel like I am starting a new relationship, and the PV and I are still in the "getting to know you" stage. :p Feels like I have to constantly fiddle with it to get good results.
I'm gonna go look up cartomizers before I do anything else.

I want to thank you all again for the words of encouragement. It really does help to have a sounding board for my frustration.
I mostly use the 510 cartos now but I went through what you did with the dry/flooded 510s. It didn't bother me enough to even consider stopping vaping, but we're all different.

Highping's http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/70962-my-simple-cart-mod.html works well. I lean toward the straw mod, myself. If you add something such as a straw to the cart, you need to remove enough filler to make room for it. Otherwise the straw will pack the filler tighter in the space and nothing will get through. I snip off a smidge along one side and slide it back in with the straw. When you fill it, try to avoid dripping directly on the straw -- that's the path for the air in the cart to escape, making room for the liquid. Add a few drops, wait for it to sink in, add a few more, and so on. (Sometimes flicking the side with your nail encourages the air to escape and the liquid to soak in.) If you don't get it fully soaked, there won't actually be much liquid on the filler past the top layer. You'll vape that quickly and the cart will be dry.

If you cut off too much filler, there won't be anything to hold the liquid in place. As soon as you turn on your battery you've got a flood.

It can take a bit of fiddling but once you get the filling right on a cart, that cart becomes fiddle-free.

Hang in there, ms kat. If I can get off of those sap silly suckers, anybody can. I am 75 years old and began smoking when I was 18. At the height of my habit, I was burning up at least three packs a day and sometimes four. I didn't quit them because I wanted to. I quit because they were costing me more than 20 dollars a day. I doubt if I would go back to them now even if they were cheaper than e-cigarettes.

510 Mega Cartomizers! The best are from Nhaler.

I vaped and smoked, for almost two months. Got a mod, found cartomizers...I don't know what was frustrating me worse the atty/cartridge mess combo, trying to find the perfect solution-fillers dripping etc etc or the short battery life in the 510s.

I use 510 cartos now. I really like the new mega soft tips because I just pop off the tip, load up directly onto the filler till it pools over the fillers. Give it a quick shake, gently blow the excess out into a napkin and I am good to go. I don't even bother putting the little rubber tip back on, rather leave it open and if I start to drop off I just add about 4-6 drops. One carto lasts me about a week or two. I have several different ones going at the same time. They actually will last longer but by two weeks I just toss them.

It is definately a no fuss way to go if you are frustrated with all the fidding around. Dripping and filler mods are fine if you like to fiddle or are sitting at a desk vaping but if you are always mobile etc then it just isn't a good answer.

I really recommend this avenue for those trying to get over the hump. It is simple and fool proof and you can always dive back into the attys and fillers etc once you get over the need for smoking. The way I see it, the fiddling around replaces the smoking habit for alot of folks but for those who smoked as a secondary task, smoking while always doing something else, this is the answer. Fussing and fiddling will just lead to being frustrated for some people.

So, in short - whatever works for YOU is the 'best way'. Lots of good suggestions and tips (and opinions, ) and lots of ideas.
I'm a 510 dripper, have been for a loooong time now cos although I'm normally a patient person I found carts a lttle..trying lol.
Cartos suit many people, carts work great for many too and some us love that dripping :)
The great thing about PV versus cigs are the CHOICES imo; but DO stick with it, teething troubles are to be expected, and giving up cigs frm day one should not be your goal - just do what feels right. Took me 10 days to lay down my pack for good, and nary a guilty thought crossed the mind inside my little blonde head when I DID have one.

*insert long and admirable speech about 'brave new world' here*

What device are you using them on? I find with my ego (which only puts out an actual 3.1V) I have to suck my brains out with the mega carto's. They are higher resistance than regular 510 cartos, so I may just save them for when I get a 5V passthrough, but on the regular 510 batteries they suck.

That's an observation I have been thinking of for awhile now.

I never smoked while doing something else, so I never thought of that aspect.
For me cigarettes were actually a way to take a break from the world.

I think you definitely nailed some important factors there.

Hmm i kinda like the fiddling around part when i'm home but i can def. see the frustration when i'm traveling for work and i pretty much just want everything ready to go for extended periods of time with no fiddling.

Just out of curiosity are there any professional truck drivers on these forums? I would imagine they would need to be able to setup and be ready to vape all day without having to drip, refill, fiddle etc. (at least i hope they do).

Cigarettes were my friend LOL. I used them to occupy my non mousing hand. I used them with my morning coffee, dinner, basically before I did anything I smoked a cig. When I was finished with anything I smoked a cig.

Then I met my hubby who is an ex smoker , I was tossed out to the patio with my "friend". I moved to the garage when it was cold. I was never in the house, unless i was sleeping or cleaning with cig breaks in between. I had my laptop and my cigs . I told him finally I would be smoking in the office and I was not going to be put out any longer. But I felt guilty doing that.

Now I am sitting in my living room for the first time in 5 yrs vaping. I must drip because I am bored watching tv with him. If he wanted to see me he came outside. I didnt go in because cigs were more important to me than watching tv with my hubby. Kind of sad huh? Especially considering we have a great relationship in general. So I must drip while watching tv to fiddle because he thinks I am not paying attention to him if I have my laptop plopped in front of my face. What else is there to do while watching him flip back and forth.. Drip drip drip. Otherwise I use cartos for cooking with my pv hanging out of my mouth like the grandma in the scene in 16 candles. And driving LOL

Chucks, the 808 cartos at 3.7V and the mega 510 cartos at either 3.7 or 6V. I love my chucks, simple no adjusting, no fiddling.

Check the wrapper on the cartos you are using, some of them are wrapped to low and cover the holes. Just push up the wrapper or poke them out with a pin. The 510cartos kinda woops ...., vapes better at higher voltage than the regular mega cartos.

Mega 510 cartos must be a lot different than the regular 510 cartos. I tried a regular one at 6V yesterday and it lasted a whole 10 min.
Does anyone besides NHalers sell the megas? By another name maybe?
