I made a dual coil build. 29g on a 2.4 mm drill bit that resulted in 0.6 ohms. Very warm vape at 17.7 watts with intense flavor and dense vapor. I'll play with it for a while but my initial impression is too hot and more TH than I'm used to. The ohm reading is flashing on my VS rDNA....wonder what that means?

yup Kiwi, DNA30. Does that flashing just to tell me that it's stepping down the voltage?

AH right. Welp nope.

So the dna30 doesn't have buck, aka it doesn't step down voltage.

So it is only able to regulate wattage output, down to as low as the inherent battery voltage is able to support.

Eg if your build is 1 ohm, and your battery voltage is 4V, the lowest wattage it can output is 16 watts. (Based on completely no voltage loss and battery sag)

In your case, you were using a low resistance build, but your battery's current voltage is too high to give you the wattage setting you've specified. So the chip simply dumps the battery voltage, a la mech mod kinda. When this happens, the resistance reading blinks.

Hope that helps!

ETA: when your resistance is blinking, the wattage you are ACTUALLY Vaping at is gonna be higher than what you've specified

I like 26g wire for my spaced coils because it holds up better to re-wicking with Rayon. I'll need 10 or 11 wraps with that at 3mm in order to bring it up into the 1.5 range for non-flashy ZNA ohm setting at lower watts. Am I getting this right?!

If your DNA30 has no step down then you are pumping ~ 30 watts on a fully charged battery. Normally this does not produce a hot vape for myself. I generally hit it at about 25-30 watts. Still cool. Open up the airflow. Once you start getting into dual coils you might want to drop your nicotine level to reduce that throat hit. If you're vaping 18mg, that will knock you on your azz. I vape about 3mg and any higher makes me nauseous.

good luck with that. I've been relegated to 28g and still struggle to keep it above 0.8ohms. But that's with duals. Are you talking about a single coil? Because then we're more in the range of what I consider to be possible given your above mentioned spec's.

I appreciate your help Waddle, but I'm going back to a single coil after this tank. My lungs are shot after 55 years of smoking. 15 watts seem to be my sweet spot. I didn't know that nic level had a direct effect on throat hit. My juices are already pretty low nic- about 3 mg.

What's your preferred watts tho?

Also bear in mind that a 1.5 ohm 26g vape will be quite different from say a 28ga vape at the same wattage [emoji51]

Pete, do you have another mod you can use? My istick 50W can step down. It uses pwm to do it, but its not like the pwm that was on the 20W. Its pretty darn accurate.

Hi roxy! Yes, I've got a SX Mini, a Cloupor brick and three ZNA's. I'll try this new Aqua2 on the sx mini. You were right about the Aqua; it's a great atty!

I usually run my KFLs in the 12 - 15 watt range. I think it will be better if I build the one on the ZNA with 28g.

Oh right. Building anything above 1.2 ohms will let you go 12 watts no prob even when fully charged on a dna30. Also if you're using a 3mm bit, you would probably wanna go with 26ga? Or else you'll have barely any wraps with the 28ga haha.

If using 28, I'd go with 3/32. I said 3mm because that would be the only way to use 26 and keep the wraps reasonable.

I'll aim for 1.2 - 1.5 with 28. ;)

Waddle is right , you're in mech mode on the ZNA , so you're pushing almost 30 watts , try it on the mini , still might not be for you though .
