Just picked up a couple of Trident V2 clones from FT to practice modding on.........Are the copper centers safe with all juices or will I be vaping copper eaten away by acidic juices?

There has been discussions lately and I think it was deemed unsafe to drill out copper posts...

Why?...they do add lead to "some" copper for machinability which would make it no different than brass, after you machine it, soak it overnight in a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide which gets rid of any surface lead exposed...it's all good

So the closer I look at the Magma the more interesting it gets:

Should be an easy mod. Straight shot with the drill press through that 510 pin.

And then there this mod a guy did over at FT to prevent juice splatter into the air hole. A little more work....

The Immortalizer is one RDA that I don't think is possible to bf...the way the air holes feed to a lower chamber under the ceramic deck...if you did manage to drill the center pin you'd just pump juice into that chamber, it'd be a gurgly, goopy mess...

Thanks, I was trying to figure out a way to do it and couldn't think of one. Hmmm I'll keep looking for something to mod. Atomic maybe.

Great pic's gdeal :toast:...this could be one of the easiest yet...

That anti-juice-splatter machining looks just a little (ok a lot, lol) beyond my skills and tools...looks cool though eh?

It should be pretty easy, the extra piece that gdeal was showing was a later add on to keep the posts from leaning in. (which has never been a problem on my clone, but I understand a number of people experienced.) But it really just looks like a straight drill job. I'm not sure how easy notching the insulator would be, but if you can drill through the middle of the screw, it would be a perfect squonk hole right in the middle of the bottom of the juice well.

No anti-splatter needed on bf mods.

The poster (sorry I dont have the link), said he did it with dremel diamond tips and it took him ~4 hours. :D Now that's dedication.

No anti-splatter needed on bf mods.
Some people have reported that juice splatter/condensation can collect on the air hole ledge and work its way to the air hole.

Another, more practical suggestion, was to slightly upsize the airhole opening and insert a hypotube...sorta like what the Taifun does to create a slight lip.

That's a good idea... I'll bet diamond tipped tool guy cried a little when he read that one...

I don't remember the exact reason and can't find the thread at the moment, but if memory serves me it had something to do with the copper leaching into the juice or something to that effect. When I find the thread and posts I will link them here also.

Well whatdaya know...I never even considered the suck-back clearing the lower chamber... another mod you could do would be bore a couple holes through the ceramic so you could drop your wick ends into the lower chamber (diamond tipped dremel burr tip will do it)...I guess another reason why I just dismissed the Immortalizer was because it relies on yet another contact connection (vdrop?)

... but if it works, good deal!

Waiting for my grand to get back from the spa where Rob milled it down to LP, I decided to give it a go with modding my new Atomic atomizer. I also chucked up the screws and filed the heads down on them as well as the sharp tips they had. Now they are more forgiving on capturing the wire. Not the prettiest modding job, but think it will be just fine. Can't wait to get this on it and vape the $&!# out of it... 27g 1/16" ID 14/15 wrap .79Ω
