That sucks, though if something is going to go numb...could be worse
So I concede defeat on the one hand Mama Method...problem is, the Ehpro Atomic insulator is waaay better than I gave it credit. I gave up on the candle to heat the needle and went to a MAP gas torch...I just ended up destroying the needle...that insulator can take some serious heat...so I went back to drilling the insulator (pin in). It works fine but you need a pretty small drill bit...to speed up the process I chucked the pin vice with looks like a .5 mm bit (don't ask me what # size it is, it came with the pin vice set) then I chucked the pin vice in a battery drill...if you're gonna drill it by hand, pack a lunch...
bottom line is, attacking the insulator is just as good as slotting the pin, in fact, seeing as the hole(s) are vertical and right at the deck, suck back is about as good as you're going to get. Verdict, drilling down through the insulator with the pin still in, while time consuming (and you'll still need to buy a pin vice set) is about as easy as it's going to get...and it works pretty good (note: if you run 100% VG and you live in the arctic, you may want to drill 3-4 holes)...just one guys opinion...
