^Thanks, I've been waiting for someone to post a picture of that method of modding the atomic......Did you hand drill, drill press or chuck up a pin vice in a hand held?

I did it with a dremel. I think it was a #60 HS drill bit. As you can tell the bit may have been just a little big. It was actually pretty easy to do. Just took it nice and steady. Only time will tell how well it works. I should get my grand back probably Wed or Thurs.

A #60 is a little big if you just want to drill insulator only...I bough a new digital vernier caliper and mic'd the bit I used (that came with the pin vice set)...it's pretty close to a #68, may be tough to get at your local hardware store...but I checked an "on-line" drill bit chart and it's really close to a 1/32" bit which should be easier to get (apparently it's also known as a #0 pilot bit...learn something new every day?)

A single #68 is going to be a little tight for high vg juice isn't it? I use #53 on my Atomics and it feels great, I can tell a certain difference compared to the #54 in my Cyclones. I would imagine the difference between #53 and #68 would be huge. I haven't done the cross section calculations but I would think dual #68's would be close to a single #54.

Probably a little tight, yes...my one Atomic that I drilled the insulator has 4 holes in it (2 for each coil) works awesome, I run 50% VG and squonking is effortless...in theory, provided you are mindful of your spacing and did it on a decent drill press to assure a true vertical hole you could probably get 6 in there without too adversely effecting the insulator integrity...

I did take a little off the post as well, so yeah, #60 is probably a little too big. Not by much though. I think the perfect size would be more like a #65. I don't think I would've caught any of the post with that. I won't know for sure for a few days when my grand gets back from the spa as to how it will handle the 70/30 I vape. Will report back...

It does, it's kinda cool watching it, the deck just floods (the holes really aren't all that visible)...this isn't just a "do this if you don't have the tools to drill SS" method...this is a perfectly viable method, no more snapping bits drilling SS, no more beating the pin out to notch...it's a kitchen table project

Has anyone tried this on a Quasar? I got one a week or so ago and love it for its ridiculously huge drip well and flavor.

I haven't, but a guy from my B&M ordered a few extra pins and is having a guy mod them for bf. I'll report back when mine is ready and let you know how it works. Would be an awesome atty to have on a Reo!

Has anyone modded one of these?

I just ordered one. Think it would look sharp if I can do it. Looks like a challenge though.

Well guess what made its way home, a day early I might add. Original tracking showed it as a Thursday delivery. It's about time USPS did a good job for a change!!! Rob did a fantastic job milling it down to LP and the Atomic fits very well. Not sure if I am going to like the Atomic too well though. It is airy, for sure. Even with the smallest air holes. I will give it a couple days and see how it goes. I am soooooo glad to have my grand back, it seemed like it took a month, but was only 7 days!!! Here's a new pic of it...
