In my very humble opinion the atomic @19.5-20mm across just looks the best on a grand . If all goes well there will be a pile of bf/afc cyclones in the classifieds. With the 2 more on the way from Germany I will be up to 6 with afc and 1 without. The good citizens of Reoville will get first shot.

I have a BF cyclone from Mountain Oaks how much better is the AFC? I would like to add the cap to mine but there out of stock every were and I don't want to pay over 100 for another cyclone with the AFC and then have to mod it to BF

It's a clone ( EH PRO) got it for 22 bucks and to my surprise the pin is SS :)

I have an original from a month or two ago and just got an EH Pro clone of the atomic yesterday .....

Its an amazing piece considering it was under 25 shipped to me. There isn't one piece that looks or feels cheaper than the original. I'm loving it.

Haven't bottom fed modified either yet ...... I got the clone because I was thinking I could mod the clone pin and not F'up the original. I was gonna put the clone pin in the original when done but really there is no reason to .... dam things are the same.

Cant wait to get a LP ...... now.

I couldn't agree more...I'm contemplating getting a 4th before the bossman at the Ehpro company figures out what's going on...at $22.99 to $25.99 to your door off ebay simply defines the old saying "a deal at twice the price". It's a solid, hefty, easy to build on unit with what could be the perfect sized chamber...do I sound like an Ehpro rep. yet?

I'm gonna climb up on my soap box for a couple mins...

I'm not bashing Cyclones (or any quality RDA) at all and I get how some have an aversion to clones but watching peeps run around trying to find stock and paying through the nose for it when you do is exactly why the clone producers are flourishing. Tell me that the folks at viscous ant couldn't load up their cnc lathe and grind these things out 24/7 (quality doesn't drop, machinery doesn't care if it makes 1 or 20 per hour, they'll be identical). All the suppliers would then have stock, then they'd start under cutting each other driving the price lower and lower...the price would eventually represent quality, not exclusivity and relative rareness.

Think about it, if Rob used this marketing model he should drop his production by 75% and charge $400 for a Grand...exchange "Cyclone w/afc cap" with "Grand" and is the same story...then enter the Asian machine shops, who see an outrageous demand and you know the rest...I refuse to be a party to these marketing tactics that "high end" e cig manufacturers have mastered...

There, all done, feel free to beat on me, agree with me, etc. but at the very least, think about value for money...we're all Reo owners so we got that part right, now it's time we expected the same from some of the RDA's makers.

And this is exactly why I decided to pick up a couple dirt cheap RDAs and mod them myself.

Personally, I would love to have a cyclone...or even dare I say a Chalice. But at the end of the day, I'm simply not willing to pay for it. I have paid for what I feel are top of the line devices. I have 5 Reos and 2 Provaris. The rest of my stash are clones except for the wood bf I made myself.

I love the rm2 and have 3 of them. If the cost of a shiny new bf Atty exceeds the cost of an RM2 I am more inclined to buy another one of them or a reomized IGO-S rather than the high priced Atty. I am practical and frugal if nothing else... Spending $100 or more on an Atty just doesn't make sense to me.

I hope you can see where I'm coming from. I'm sure the Cyclone or Chalice are great attys. I j7st don't know that they are that much better than an rm2 FOR ME.

Thanks
Geo

Indiana Jones faced the mother of all bowling balls, and crazy locals with poison arrows for a little gold monkey...

I get the allure of paying hard for something tough to get, but it's when they are tough to get by design is what drives me nuts...

What we didn't see in the movie was the little guy behind the stone wall with a crate of little gold monkeys laughing till he p%$#'d himself.

I will agree totally I don't have an AFC for my Cyclone it's just a stock BF one I think the RM2 works just as good there is the obvious brass construction of the RM2 verus the SS of the Cyclone and a 25 dollar difference in price is SS construction worth 25 extra to You?

TESTIFY!
I couldn't agree more. Why couldn't more companies follow the REO, Provari, Carmax bussiness model? Providing greatness for the masses at a fair (not nessessarily cheap) price. Give the people what they want at a price that remains profitable, how hard is that?

Keep in mind the smaller the bit the faster you should be spinning it ......

You actually create more heat by going at a slower RPM

You should go slow however when pushing the bit in ...... go in steps up and down and use a lube. Don't be afraid to stop and clear the chips.

Bits in the size range we are talking about should be spinning at 3000 RPMs for the most efficient cut. Most efficient means less heat being created.

http://www.fnal.gov/pub/takefive/pdfs/Drill_Press_Speed_Chart.pdf

So, I just tried this. Thanks for the tip Big Hitter. I drill a few 3/4" long SS screws now and again. Have been doing it at ~700 rpm. And that works. I read this and had to try it (curiosity and whatnot). 3100 rpm setting. Course I drilled one screw, not 15. So, grain of salt.

Results: both work fine. The real thing about drilling out about 3/4" of SS with a tiny bit* is clearing it often (pulling out and clearing shavings). And the clearing and lubing/cooling with cutting fluid is 2/3 of the time. So, 3K isn't faster. And you can feel what's happening better at 700. And the bit heated up about the same at either speed. (heating seems to have more to do with how long of a bite you take and with how much force.) But, the one hole I drilled came out the bottom perfectly on center. So it does indicate (with just one attempt) that the higher speed is cleaner and more accurate. In the end, I'd say going at slow speed is more forgiving for a one-time / first-time attempt (at least until your eyes, body and ears get a sense for what's happening); but I'm going to try the next batch of 15 at 3k.

*I use a #54 bit for BF modding atties
